Czar Salon and Spa

C’zar is a very beautiful, trendy salon that offers much more than the average haircut. I was greeted by a very sweet and knowledgeable receptionist who offered me wine (!) and other beverages while I waited. My stylist, Liz, was incredible. She took the time to talk with me about my haircut vision and truly listened to what I wanted. Not many stylists do that. The luxurious shampoo and scalp massage were so relaxing, I almost fell asleep! Throughout my haircut Liz asked me how I was feeling about the length and style, she was such a professional. You can see by her techniques that she is very talented and my hair turned out so beautifully – exactly what I wanted! I can honestly say this is the best haircut I’ve ever gotten and I have finally found «my salon»! I love C’zar!

Very nice salon but they’re expensive. Aveda dye seems to fade faster than other dyes so that’s frustrating. I was always happy with the dye jobs and hair cuts but the styling was unimpressive. Had a partial up do done for a wedding. Stylist took all of 15 minutes to do it, it cost $ 50 and I took it out when I got home it looked so ridiculous. Overall a nice salon but definitely very pricey. I went to Colorific and found the dye lasts much longer but the quality of the cuts doesn’t compare. It’s annoying but I will be going to Czar for my hair cuts and Colorific to have my hair dyed.

I visited C’Zar for the first time last night. The salon is beautiful and cozy. It’s not one of those super-​sized, hustle & bustle type salons. My stylist was Stephanie (a senior stylist). She was easy to talk to but more importantly, she was very knowledgeable and passionate about hair. I showed her a few pictures and explained what bothered me about my most recent haircut. She used her arsenal of techniques to really create what I was looking for. She suggested a couple products that would work with my hair type as well. I definitely will be returning for haircuts and maybe even try color with Stephanie!

This location is like a little piece of heaven or an oasis in an unlikely location. I had used the downtown Naperville salon years ago and now they’ve relocated that one in to a cute house setting, but this one has lots of easy parking without the downtown Naperville hassle factor, the same quality of service and a selection of nice stores and restaurants right there in the Bolingbrook Promenade for coordinating other activities at the same time. It never seems to get crazy at this location either, and I love the Aveda hair products.

This place is amazing! Everything they do there is top notch! I HIGHLY recommend Liz! She is so talented… best haircut I’ve ever gotten.

I started seeing Gina about 6 years ago and my hair has completely transformed. She is always listening to what I want and I how I feel about my hair. Her goal with this salon is not only to keep her customers happy, but to keep their hair as healthy as she can. I have complicated hair, very frizzy and curly, but she always knows the way to help me keep it simple (the keratin treatment works wonders!!). We’ve done all different colors and cuts throughout the years, but my hair is even stronger and gorgeous than ever. I owe her big time :) Also, if you can’t book time with Gina– Stephanie and Rachel are amazing as well! They’ve both helped me out a lot in a pinch!

Great service, but expensive. Love the atmosphere! I came here once before and had great service. The only reason I found another stylist is because of the high prices. The stylist I found left to do something else, so I will come back here again for a color and cut.

I’ve had my hair done 3 times now at Czar; once a few years ago for a cut that I had to come back in for a ‘fix’ that makes twice. I thought I’d try them again for a color this past weekend.
Lindsey a senior stylist colored my hair. She did a great job and is a super sweet lady. However, after having a few days to really think about the fact that I had to blow dry my own hair I’ve decided to Unilocal about my feelings.
I have always been a higher end salon patron. Never have I had to blow dry my own hair after a cut or color service. The assistant/​apprentice that washed my hair asked me if I wanted to have towel dried hair or would I like for her to ‘grab’ me a blow dryer. I really didn’t want to spend $ 100 ($ 80 for color service and $ 20 tip) to walk out of a salon with dripping wet hair.
I did some searching on the web and found this to be somewhat of a money making trend, $ 30+ for an optional blow dry. This seems outrageous to me. If I’m spending $ 100+ on color & sometimes highlights, shouldn’t I walk out of there with a finished hairstyle? I feel like an idiot sitting there blow-​drying my own hair in the salon, but I also feel like an idiot paying $ 30+ to have it dried.
So needless to say I did lots of reading of reviews on high end salons in the Chicago suburbs, I have found a salon that states right in their pricing menu that «(Color Services include a blow dry and style).»
I will leave 2 stars because Lindsey is worth 5 stars.

Received a great wash, condition and blow dry by stylist Rachel.
She took me at my appointed time, was very professional and had lots of questions during our consultation to determine what I’d like to achieve with my naturally curly hair. I was in and out relatively quick (a definite plus). She is very welcoming and friendly. I loved her own short, sassy cut; a very nice look on her. I booked Rachel on a recommendation of a friend that gets her done by Rachel, and my friends hair is always gorgeous! We’ll have to work on trying different Aveeda products that work well for my hair type because I didn’t particularly like the finished style; it was limp and weighed down from product used to protect it from blowdrying… My friend suggests if I have favorite products that work well for me, I’m free to take them for use instead. All in all, $ 45 was well worth the great service I received from Rachel; and I’m willing visit her again and figure out what works best for my hair.

I started seeing Rachel about 3 years ago and it has been the best decision I have ever made. I have extremely thick, course, naturally curly hair that was a complete wreck. I was flat ironing it every day, mainly because it was too damanged to attempt to wear curly. She helped me nurse it to health and get to a point where it is so low maintenance, I barely have to do it. I have long beautiful waves that I get compliments on ALL the time. Will never go elsewhere :)

I’ve had my hair cut here quite a few times. All the ladies that do hair there are kind and good at what they do. The hair washer, Jo, is super friendly and totally relaxes you during the shampoo. I have a lot of texture done to my hair, I like having a pixie cut and Liz did it perfectly!
I’ve also had a couple of massages there and it was very relaxing both times.
The ambiance is relaxing as well.

I came here because of the Groupon and I was very impressed. Usually salons that offer a Groupon cut a lot of corners with their highlights but not this place! Jessica was very thorough with the consultation and her foils. I was so impressed with her talent, and then she told me they offer complimentary bang trims, so I will definitely return. They offer hours on Sunday and Monday, which makes this place even more attractive.
PS — they also offer a Unilocal discount and a discount for booking your next appointment. They are definitely customer service-​oriented. 10% is a very nice discount.

Went here out of desperation as I had a headache that lasted 5 days! I felt the only way it might go away was with a massage. Decided to get a 15 minute chair massage since I really just wanted my neck worked on to get rid of the headache. I sat down in the massage chair with the headache, and 15 minutes later it was gone. It is now 12 hrs after the massage and still no headache!!! FINALLY relief after 5 days. Laura was fantastic! She gave me a ton of tips, stretches, and advice after the massage on how to manage my symptoms later. I will definitely be going back to try a full 60 min massage with Laura. So happy I stopped in there today!

Before coming to Czars salon, I had only had a few facials and didn’t think they were anything too special. But then my then fiancé booked a facial for me a few weeks before our wedding shower at Czars, it was a game changer. Jackie is wonderful and makes you feel completely at ease, so much so that I am lucky if I don’t drift off to sleep during my treatments. I’ve been back to visit her regularly ever since.
Jackie is extremely knowledgable and really talks through both the condition of your skin and what treatments she will be applying. She also has provided samples of products for me to try out at home before buying a full bottle of something, which is extremely helpful. She works at both the Bolingbrook and Naperville salons, which is great for me because both are equally convenient for me.

I’ve been here a couple of times and used to see Jessica when she was there.
On my most recent visit, I dared to go with a jr. stylist… With my incredibly thick and wavy hair, I should have known better. After showing the girl the exact cut I wanted (photo of the cut Jessica gave me) and asking her to thin it out twice, I ended up with a bob cut that made me look like I was twelve. I went home, washed it, styled like I usually would and just couldn’t make it work.
The next morning, I called and asked if there was anything I could do that day to get it fixed (we were going to a huge work event that night). They offered to have the girl fix it for free, but I requested a senior stylist to fix it explaining that I had nothing against the girl but that I felt my hair just needed a bit more experience.
Luckily, Gina had an opening that morning and took me on. She took a look at the photo and worked with my hair for a minute or two while asking me a few questions. With about 30 minutes of magic, I had the cut I was looking for in the first place.
If you have a complicated hair-​type, don’t hesitate to book with Gina — she’s amazing and worth every penny.

I will never go back here. I had an appointment for 12:45 PM. I show up early for my appointment, when I go to check in the receptionist or whoever she was, tells me that they GAVE MY APPOINTMENT AWAY. The reason they did this is because when THEY were booking my appointment, they didn’t take my phone number. So when they couldn’t call me to confirm that I’d be coming… they just booked someone else in my appointment time. To make matters worse the woman was rude and unapologetic about THEIR mistake. I WILL NEVER RETURN.

I have seen several different stylists here and they are all good. No one stood out to me to be great but all my haircuts were decent. None of them cut it as short as I want but it’s not bad. I used to go to an amazing stylist in the city and so far no one compares.

A friend of mine recommended C’Zars Salon for a hair cut. She had been there about 8 weeks ago and is still loving her cut! So, I looked them up here, and took the advice of Amanda B. — I booked with Gina. Boy am I glad I did! Gina is amazing! I came in with a good idea of what I wanted, and I think that the cut I was envisioning was something that would work with my hair — but I honestly think she would have told me if it just wasn’t going to work too.
Gina took a solid hour to cut my hair. And when it came to styling — she asked me what products I have at home and use, and what size brush I have. She didn’t ‘push’ the Aveda products on me, and just used the equivalents to what I said I have. And, she used the same size brush — and said «I want to make sure this will work to style — I don’t want you to have to go out and get a new brush!» How often do you hear that from a stylist!
She also informed me that bang trims (and in my case since I don’t really have bangs, but a shorter cut) that any ‘quick trim’ is complementary (even on her busiest day), if it starts to get a little too thick or unruly between full haircuts! That made my day — and the hopes that I can get quite a bit more «wear» out of this $ 65 (including tip) haircut!
I’ve been to an Aveda salon before (out in Geneva) — and they’re all nice. This one has a nice ‘old world’ feel to it — with rich colors and tinted windows you feel like you’ve entered a castle and you forget that it’s blazing hot summer outside!
I will definitely be back!

**Update!** Amy is no longer with C’zar and has not been for quite some time. I now go to Rachel and she is just as amazing. She’s cute, friendly, and always nails exactly what I’m looking for! I have a bob now and she keeps it looking fabulous.

I agree with the previous review in regards to the recommended stylists. I would like to add that if you have straight hair or less texture Stephanie or Gina would be ideal. If you have a lot of texture try to get in with Jessica or Liz. All four do amazing with all hair to be honest but they really excel in those areas.
If you can not get in with one of those four I reccomend you change your schedule around. Unless it is the super rare occassion that an owner is in, the others (regardless of rank) are no where near as good as these four.
I have straight thin hair and can not say enough great things about both Stephanie and Gina. I have sent many friends and family members to them as well as Jessica and Liz, depending on their hair, and have received nothing but thanks.
