The Peregrine Fund World Center for Birds of Prey

Very small but worth the visit. A few birds to see outside and then a few exhibits inside. Short video and a live bird shown by a handler also. Very nice, short too. There is also a tour of the archive building twice each day, with a guide. This is NOT a zoo so don’t expect lots of birds! Adult admission is only $ 7.

You can see maybe 15 birds of prey here. Admission is fairly cheap, and the volunteers here are nice. We also got to see the falcon building also, and learned a lot about falconry.

This is a great place to see many different raptor birds up close. This was my first time seeing a bald eagle that wasn’t either in a photograph or stuffed by a taxidermist. I agree with others that it is for kids and it small. But I think that they have done an excellent good with the layout and the interior exhibits.

There were guided tours and bird presentations. Mostly, it is good for children. Its in the midde of no where though and its kind of small. They said they were adding an addition where they will have shows. There is okay parking but I bet that would be a problem if it was more popular. The staff were very nice. I have nothing bad to say about the staff.

We were running out of ways to entertain out of town guests so we went to the World Center for Birds of Prey out of desperation. Turns out, this place is awesome!!! There’s a good mix of indoor (museum, etc.) and outdoor (birds of prey!) exhibits. We were able to see a flight demonstration and afterwards view the birds up close and ask their handlers a lot of questions. Everyone learned a lot and had tons of fun!

This was such a surprise! A good one! We were in Boise for the first time and had an extra day to fill. We ended up here for several hours, chatted with the very knowledgeable staff and volunteers, saw birds of prey we’d never seen before, and learned a bit about the condor releases. We will go back… To see the library and archives, and if we are fortunate to get back in the fall, the bird flights.

This place is amazing! We put off going here for three years, but finally went when my mom was in town. UNBELIEVABLE! Waaaaaay better than going to the zoo. There were a few live bird demonstrations, including a very cool owl with lots of personality (someone already posted its picture). The bigger birds of prey, like some of the eagles, were amazing to see. If you go at the right time, you get to see them disgustingly tear apart fish and other small creatures. I’m never a fan of the signs and videos and stuffed creatures at exhibits like this, but these were relatively good. Plus, we got a pic of my wife dressed up as a bird (will post if she gives it and her permission to me).
Fun fact: What does a vulture do for self-​defense? Projectile vomit!

great place to take the family. many birds of prey to view and SO much information on the birds that are housed and bred there. We were given a tour of the falconry museum by Steve, the guide there. The tour was very interesting and the items they had there were beautiful, and from around the globe. I was very glad that we went there with the children, as there are many hands-​on parts of the center.

This is such a neat place and is very close to downtown Bosie (about 15 minute drive). The staff was so friendly and they brought out a hawk into the courtyard for a show and tell. The condor cliffs is also really cool to see these big birds up close. They have a fun kids activity area. Great tour and interesting displays. My wife and our 4 year old son absolutely loved it. If you are interested in birds of prey at all, this is a great place to visit.

I made a late fall trip here and it was a great visit. Steve (the Docent on duty while we were there) took us on the tour of the falconry and talked about the history of falconry and had lots of great knowledge on the history of the center, the items and photos in the falconry as well as current projects and breeding going on behind the scenes. Steve also showed us one of their Peregrine Falcons. I was impressed with the knowledge of the docents on staff and the facilities. Lots of enrichment in enclosures and great information on the signs. I look forward to seeing the facility in the spring or summer and catching a show with some of the birds in flight.

On an isolated hilltop overlooking the Boise valley is the World Center for Birds of Prey. We went there last week and got a tour with a knowledgeable docent. While not very large, the exhibit houses some beautiful specimens which appear to be very well cared for. Our American bald eagle is a beauty, and the condor enclosure is quite impressive. The tour was worthwhile and all the visitors’ questions were answered. This tour included an informative video about efforts to save the California condor. The tour continued to an adjacent building that is a library and museum of falconry. We didn’t find this part too interesting. If you plan to visit, try to go when they give live demonstrations of flying some of the birds. I believe this is on the weekends. We missed it, unfortunately, but we would recommend the Birds of Prey to anyone interested in wildlife.

This is a great place to see many times of birds of prey in one location. It’s a good sized museum and the volunteers are very helpful.
For $ 7 adult admission we were able to see many varieties of owls, falcons and eagles. They have some outdoor exhibits and some indoor exhibits.
We managed to time it just right to take the tour of the falconry which had many interesting artifacts. It’s located across the parking lot from the main museum and also houses their research library.
We were able to view a six month old owl with the aid of a handler up close. It was quite interesting.
This place will give you a whole new appreciate for birds. We spent about 2 ½ hours just going through the exhibits and taking the tours that were included with the admission fee. I also fell in love with the koi pond that was near the entrance to the museum.
This place is very kid friendly and it appears that they routinely have tours from the neighboring schools.
They also have the all important drinks and snacks in the gift shop. Check out the local Dream chocolate that they sell that all proceeds go to help conserve the birds of prey in nature.
I would completely recommend this place.

What a neat place to live! The Peregrine Foundation is close to downtown Boise on a windswept plateau. The entrance fee is just $ 7, well worth it to get to meet all the interesting birds of prey! There are a number of live bird demonstrations during the day (every two hours, if I remember correctly) and one of the educators brings out a resident bird to introduce him or her to visitors.
The Peregrine Foundation (aka World Center for Birds of Prey) also breeds (and releases!) California Condors. They have two captive-​bred condors currently in residence that lived on their own in the Grand Canyon for a while but came back to Boise when they wouldn’t stop trying to situate their nests near coyotes’ dens. Now, I love coyotes, but their den would not be the first location I’d select for a nest… Anyway, a great place to visit. They have a half dozen birds outside, then in the warm visitor’s center there are a number of interesting displays.
Also interesting was the twice-​daily tour of the archives, a building located across the parking lot that houses all sorts of birding arcana. The majority of the archives tour is devoted to falconry, and specifically, Middle Eastern falconry. The son of the deceased first leader of the UAE (Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan) donated a wing of the building as well as all sorts of intriguing artifacts of Middle Eastern falconry to the group.
Highly recommended, one of the most interesting tours I’ve been on in quite a while. Great for kids and adults. Now I’m going to build myself a kestrel nest box!

This place is incredible! If you have any interest in raptors (eagles, hawks, and condors) you must go here! These guys are taking care of a segment of the planet and are doing wonderful things. The specimens they have in the cages are unbelieveable! This place is so worth your time!

Oh my gosh, this was beyond what you would expect. A wonderful place for children and adults. For the squeamish, you might need to stay away from the live show in the Rainforest room. A bit far drive from Boise downtown but I was staying at the Hilton Garden Inn on Spectrum. We saw the wonderful turkey vulture– Lucy and the talented crow– Doca (it means «smart» in some other language). You soon learn that these birds are also quite smart in another way besides just those hunting birds. Great sense of smell and also quite loveable to Tricia who was the trainer/​keeper. Doca can recycle trash by picking up litter and placing it into the recycle bin. The bird can also collect $$ for this habitat which is a great cause. The library is just amazing and wonderful exhibit about how the ancient technique is used to train the birds of prey for hunting. With your admission, you get a live show and a library tour as well. I wanted to spend more time but had to catch the Lucky Peak State Park before heading to airport.

THIS PLACE IS SOOO COOL. i mean, if there is any reason whatsoever that you are ever near boise, you should check this place out. all of these birds could kill you and me easily. even those weird stuffed pygmy ones.
they have demos at particular times of the day (call in advanced to see when they happen!) where they show off one of their «for educational purposes only» birdies (they would die if they were released to the wild apparently) and make them eat frozen mice bits and fly around a showroom above your head. my boyfriend was freaking out… for good reason. that’s okay old man, you’re still punk to me.
adult admission = $ 7. although if you sneak into the falconry center (which, by the way is sponsored by the son of the founder of the united arab emirates… mad monies) and find a little flyer for the place, the flyer has a $ 1 off coupon on it.
the gift shop is craze.
overall…what’s not to like? birds of prey, man! just smoke a bowl and check it out.
