What a sweet spot! Fantastic service and truly delicious food. I felt like I was at the neighbors getting waited on. Truly a local feel and flavor. I met some friends that live in the neighborhood and I can see why it gets rave reviews.

Hidden gem! I wish I would’ve found this place sooner! I had the pretzel and red wine flight. Service was friendly.

***Update*** I have been here three or four times now since my first review and am super pleased to say it still rocks! Consistently amazing food, service, and overall experience. In fact I just went tonight and ate dare I say it, the best shrimp I’ve ever had in my life. Everything is just wonderful. If you haven’t been yet I seriously recommend picking a nice evening and sitting on the patio with a couple drinks & take your time sampling the awesome food!

What a fantastic little place! Found this while pursuing Unilocal reviews… SCORE! Felt welcome from the moment we walked in. Very courteous staff, open patio, didn’t feel cramped. Kate was an OUTSTANDING server with great brew and food suggestions. We had to try the pretzel and popcorn… the reviews have not let us down… both were fantastic! After samples of the Black bird Lager, O’Dell 90 Schilling and the Irish Stout(and liking them all) we went with the 90 schilling and Black bird… Yum. The satays were amazing. I preferred the beef, my husband the chicken… both were incredibly moist and flavorful. So no stopping us there… we each tried a taco… me the chicken(delish), my husband the pulled pork… both incredible with the slaw. Now for dessert… wait…did I mention Happy Hour??? Prices are great! Portions are PERFECT sizes! Oh! And Live Music… did I mention how perfect this experience has been? Kate was so attentive, water was refilled consistently… battery on phone is about to die… so let’s just say this… we will definitely be back on our next visit to Boise! Almost forgot… the brownie and homemade ice cream… man alive… amazing!

Yum! The food is fresh and delicious. I came in on a Tuesday with a friend and, unfortunately, just missed an acoustic guitar set. We decided to stay and ordered a salad. It was amazing. The lettuce was so tender and fresh that I felt like they must be growing it outside the restaurant. The dressing was light and perfect. We had a pretzel, too, and the sauces were wonderful. Wait staff was awesome. I love this place! I will most definitely be coming back soon.

We love this place! Great tapas style food that is top quality, with great beer and wine choices. It is truly a local place — they will learn your name and sit down to chat. No kids and no tv.

The place has great food, a good atmosphere and a decent beer list(could be bigger, but that’s my only complaint). The staff are quirky and awesome. The tacos are a must! Ask for corn tortillas and do the green salsa. The crostini are also amazing. This is a regular place for the wife and I and we have never been disappointed.

This has turned into one of our regular places to go, and we don’t eat out a lot. The pretzels are divine, and they usually have a nice, but small, rotating beer list. We’re excited that they are adding more food choices. The staff has always been really friendly and truly cares that you came in and chose them for your dining evening. A couple of times we’ve had larger parties and all we have to do is give them a call ahead of time and they are more than accommodating!

Rats! The cat is out of the Unilocal bag for folks finding out about this sweet little place. My hubby and I have been meeting friends here for some time. I posted photos earlier this year but we all agreed, we friends, that we were not writing reviews so that it could be ‘our little secret’. Yes. Sometimes I am a selfish person. There you go. But seeing others weighing in, I’ll do the same. No secret, The Local is discovered. LIBATIONS Uncomplicated wine list of good mid range options at very fair prices(@$ 6 — $ 10). Two Proseccos by the glass; yahoo! They offer a couple of flights of whites and reds that can be fun to try. Happy Hour is 3 – 6 weekdays with a little off wines and beer and some food items on special at Happy Hour sizes. EATS Limited food menu but pretty darned good, soup and salads are really good and the popcorn is splendid as that goes. In the last few months they’ve added daily specials to the list and we’ve had those good things from time to time. But you can’t lose with any of the soups or chili. SERVICE Service is always friendly, although perhaps slower than one might expect on some nights when the place isn’t very busy. We also like that there are several nights when it seems slower, less crowded, than others. It was a haven for us on some nights in the last stages of having a house built when we looked rode hard and put away wet and still always felt welcome there to refresh our bodies and spirits with vino and eats. VIBE No TV here and that is a full point of ‘hooray’ all by itself. Nice music and interesting, changing art work on walls. Our observation is the crowd here is older than some other places, by that I mean mid 30’s to 70 something. There are clearly folks who come in with family members(as in young adults with parents), and we like that too. We’ve also noticed that this seems to lean more toward being a female group, as in women in pairs or groups together, on our visits. A good single ladies gathering spot for the 30 something and up crowd.(For the flip side of that, try Capital Bar a bit further up on State Street which seems mostly men with a little snow on the roof.) This is not a hipster hangout, and at our age and stage of life we appreciate that too. IF I WEREQUEEN I’d change some table arrangement here as they have a table or two that is right inside the door on your path of travel into the main area and require ‘squeeze by’ that communicates ‘keep out’. I’d eliminate one of those tables to make a welcoming, spacious flow to get in. They have tables aplenty as it is. Sense of space communicates welcome vibe. Too dense seating and it becomes«I dare ya to enter» gauntlet. THIS N THAT: 1) Parking: Private lot. 2) Accessibility: Level in the door and throughout. Lots of standard height seating although entry spacing can make getting to it a challenge for some. Loo is accessible. Look for one accessible parking stall in front of strip mall. There are some at side but they lack a curb cut to get onto the sidewalk. 3) 21 and up: On several different evenings we’ve noted folks come in the door with tweens in ttow only to be turned away. The front door is posted 21 /no minors but the entry is so friendly I guess folks miss the sign. But it is adults only.

Love this place! I was so excited when I saw a place to grab drinks was opening up within walking distance to my house and am pleasantly surprised with what it has become. I’ve checked it out a couple of times now and it’s improved even since the first visit. This is the perfect place to go on a date, grab a drink with a girlfriend, or a group of friends. I love the ambiance– very relaxing, modern lounge — like feel. No tvs, sorry guys, I love it though, you have to pay attention to your date! Their menu has improved a lot and includes a good variety of appetizers and small plates. I had the chili today and it was so delicious, a southwestern style with a delicious pulled pork meat on top. I also love their drink selection, they always keep a great variety on hand including many local brews and wines. Their patio that opened this summer is a wonderful addition to the place! You have to check this place out! !

Decided to leave our East end comfort zone and try something new. What a great place. Friendly, nice atmosphere and the food was excellent. We started out with a glass of Presecco and an assortment of crostini. Then some red wine(excellent) a house salad which can feed 4 and a couple of street tacos. We will bring some friends next time.

Great little place to meet up with friends that’s not a bar scene. Just wish they would get a panini press! Love love love the cute gal with the long hair and shaved sides! Friendliest service ever.

Great little find! Sophisticated is what comes to mind with the atmosphere & food/drink. Great selection of beer, wine, & cocktails. Delish menu of light dishes to choose — food pairing and flavors you won’t find on any other menu. Really reasonable prices over all. Definitely returning again & again!

What a delicious experience to find so close to the Greenbelt! Hey, some people bike for fitness, I just want to feel righteous while looking for a place to eat and drink. The Local is a wonderful find! They don’t open until two, so you won’t be going there for lunch, but you should be going here! They have local brews rotating on taps, so it’ll be fun to come back again and again to see what’s new. They have a good selection of wines, wonderful ladies running the kitchen and bar, and a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. It’s only six months old, and we should make sure The Local is here for a loooooong time!
