A pal and I decided to give TB a try today for lunch. At first glance we thought the place might not have been open despite being 11:45. The waitress assured us that they were, in fact, open and barely said a word to us after that. As a general rule, if a restaurant serves hot wings I will order them. We did and they weren’t bad… sort of an «asian» sort of feel to them which was surprising since we were at the Texas Boogie. I have had better wings but I have had worse… they were just OK. We also tried the Jalapeño battered and fried«bottle caps». They were served with a sweet chili sauce and were nothing special. For the main course I had the pulled pork sando; which, like everything else, was unremarkable, bland and did nothing for me. The server seemed completely indifferent to us. She wasn’t rude but didn’t seem to care that we were 2 of 3 customers in the entire place. That’s right… lunch on a Tuesday and only 3 customers. Bottom line? Mediocre bland food and disinterested service. Save your money. With so many better options downtown I see no reason to return.

I went for lunch with friends, so that’s the caveated limitation on my review — haven’t done it for dinner or on a bar crawl. I had jambalaya — too bland, too watery. However, the gem that went with it was a fist-sized jalapeño cornbread muffin served in a deep ramekin — it was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. As an aside, the other three folks ordered various salads, all of which were very well-sized and which everyone had good praise for. Tho’ uncrowded, service was s l o o o o o w, and took far too long for a workday lunch(we were all late in getting back), especially in light of us ordering salads and the lunch special. No problems with waitstaff, tho — helpful, good banter… I’ll give it another go, probably for dinner & the bar crawl at some point, and, of course, will update as need be. Give it a try!
