Solid Grill and Bar

Really nice downtown bar and restaurant. Relaxing setting with seating inside and out. Background music at a comfortable level. Good service. Enchiladas, mini tacos, burgers are all good.

We were greeted right away when we came in.
We had our meal outside and it was wonderful.
Our server Johnny was awesome… He made sure we had everything we needed to make our meal perfect!
We highly recommend this restaurant !!

We just had a family event with 20 people to celebrate our daughter’s graduation from Boise State. They have a great private dining room just off the entrance. Jeremy was very quick to respond to our many questions via email. Brad our dedicated server/​bartender was awesome. No one waited more than a minute or two for drink refills or the next round from the bar. Brad is friendly, accommodating and makes it look easy. The food was great. We had appetizers preset. And then everyone ordered off a preset limited menu we put together with Jeremy.
FOOD:
Apps — The hummus was all the talk. Everyone loved it. Chips & Guac was good. The veggi platter was simple, but all fresh and good
Mains– Herb roasted chicken was delicious. Perfectly cooked and served with delicious vegis that were sautéed with a garlic sauce. The street tacos (both chicken and pork) were great. A little spicy so make sure you like that. The pulled pork sandwich and burger were also very good.

My husband and I ate here last night! We arrive around 9:45pm to grab a bite before calling it a night! We sat ourselves and within a few minutes our server greeted us. She explained that it happy hour and advised appetizers were $ 1.00 off. My hubby ordered the chicken quesadilla and I ordered Shrimp & Grits. Our meals arrived within a reasonable amount of time. I was so excited to taste their version of one of my favorite dishes. Well… the grits arrived in a ton of oil (not butter). There was a nice gravy of bacon and chorizo topped with marinated red onions a parsley. The shrimp were a decent size. The dish would have been very good if it wasn’t for the pond of oil it was drenched in! I mean I literally removed about 10 tablespoons of oil from the bowl! Once I remove the oil, I managed to eat a few more spoonfuls before I threw in the towel! I asked our server if this is how the dish is normally prepared and she said, «I don’t know because I never had Shrimp & Grits!» When received ur check, our server didn’t give us the $ 1 off our check! Don’t know if I will be back!

Chicken and waffles are as good as anything else on the menu. The staff will be very slow even during slow times. This place is open late so it is a great place to go after the bars close.

The food is great especially their late night menu. I recommend the tacos!!! Plus this guy Matt Bragg really makes it worth going to The Liquid for laughs. Plus you can get food from Solid delivered.

I went to solid for lunch with a group of friends. It was right when they opened at 11; service was very laid back seemed they don’t get much lunch business. I actually had to go to the bar to tell him tell our waiter we were ready to order. Service was very slow waited a while for our food considering the lack of business I don’t know why. I ordered the Mac and cheese with the weekly add-​in which was jalapeño popper. It came out bubbling and hot. The first thing I noticed was the small portion size. I was like this is an entrée? Lol plus I am paying $ 13 for this for lunch. That’s a little ridiculous for lunch not to mention it was small no salad or bread nothing. Everything else everyone ordered was pretty blah frozen fries and frozen onion rings. Simple sandwiches with frozen fries some meat and bread shouldn’t be $ 13 either. This restaurant isn’t trying very hard honestly there’s so many better lunch spots downtown that can actually cook not out of the bag are not overpriced and have fast excellent service we won’t be back nor should you give it a try.

I had been wanting to go to Solid forever, and I am so glad I finally did. We got seating in a perfect little secluded corner spot with a settee and pillows and we were so comfortable. The water comes in little mason jars with cucumbers & our server was really nice.
We started with the risotto croquets and they came with an amazing dipping sauce. We would definitely order that again.
I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap & if you like spicy this is the way to go! Yum!
My husband ordered the chicken cordon bleu with asparagus & garlic mashed. He ate his whole plate!
We can’t wait to come back! Great ambiance, servers & food!

Always consistently GOOD! The food is amazing. I like the Doc Holiday Burger. The Tacos are Fantastic. They make salads you might pay 3 times as much down the street. I am never disappointed. One of the few places with live music, they seem to always have some kind of entertainment going. 2 happy hours. Woo-​hoo I am there!

Thank you for being there on my Friday night when I might have drank an extra drink. I was tempted by the chicken and waffles (I hear they are great) I chose the burger, also great. Good, quick service, nothing to complain about. Great place to land after the happy hours!

Always friendly always good food. Stopped in today for a well deserved beer before the Boise State vs Hawaii game (GO BRONCOS) and we’re treated to some tasty beer on happy hour. Had good conversation with bartender and left feeling relaxed. Solid is just… well SOLID

This places deserves at least 4 stars. Love the live music on the patio! Great choices for vegan, vegetarian and gluten-​free. I had the GF and Vegetarian Sweet Potato Enchiladas. They were very good and slightly spicy.

Great location and a nice find. They had a really scenic outdoor space and I was surprised by the live music. The waiting staff was also quite personable and had a great understanding of the menu items.
The food there was very creative and I found my burger to be very well made. They also have the options for sweet potato fries which is always a win in my book. Their crème brûlée was creamy and freshly made.
I guess the only criticism I really had was that a few of the cocktails weren’t that well made. I had one of their signature drinks and it came out kind of sake and overly sweet. Overall however it was a great experience and I would recommend it.

Sat for 10 minutes no service. 2 wait staff walked past. Not one to wait for additional bad service. Left. Great downtown area. A lot of other choices. I’d look elsewhere

I usually hit up Solid before I go to either the Knitting Factory or Liquid. Solid is my pregame because, well, it’s solid. A great variety of taps and they are no strangers to the whiskey. I needed a tune up before I went and saw J Boog at the Knit so I got a Laughing Dog that was in excess of 8% ABV and a Jack Daniel’s side car. The wait staff was well dressed and classy. In and out and on with the night. Often times they have live music on the deck; a solo artist with an acoustic guitar. You can enjoy the tunes while you eat and drink or just while you walk by. I am quite fond of this place.

Food was excellent!!! Between the 5 of us we got the chicken quesadilla, slightly spicey and delish, risotto bites (not enough given. Ate them so fast!) pear Gorgonzola pizza (oh my goodness get this!!) and the hummus. Delicious!!! All of these items were awesome. Drinks were good and the service was top notch. Our server was super friendly!!! Brad was everything you want in a server!!! Love him!!! Will come again and ask for him!

Great food! My girlfriend and I ordered the risotto bites, some sort of bread thing with 3 different dips– SO good. Also ordered the portobello sandwich which was delicious. Would definitely return

I’ve teetered between a 3 or 4 star based on my last visit. Solid is a great spot downtown in a really good area. The ambiance is cool and laid back. Waitstaff are very helpful with excellent service. I would highly recommend the shrimp and grits which rival dishes I’ve had in Louisiana. The others in my party had good experiences with the steak. Sweet Potato Enchiladas and sandwiches were good, yet not as good as we had hoped.

Always great. Best late night breakfast in Boise. Great chicken fried steak.

Solid is one of my favorite places to eat downtown. It’s very casual with lots of seating and a creative menu. The risotto bites, and grilled halloumi are ridiculously good. The burgers and salads are also a safe bet, very fresh ingredients.
You can see live music here on the patio and that’s really cool. I was here today and our waitress was great! If you haven’t, definitely check it out.
Also I love the cucumber slices in the water!
