Best salon in Boise. I have never felt more welcome and treated as kind and valuable as a client than here. They stay professional and educated, and make their clientele and integrity top priority. I recently started coming here after s terrible experience at another salon and having my hair completely ruined. Through horror and humiliation, they have made me so comfortable and and have gone above and beyond in working to salvage what is left on my head and the integrity of my hairs health. They are very open and honest and not part of the cattiness and non professional hair community that exists in Boise. 5 stars! Every person I have dealt with there has been amazing, especially Victoria, she is an incredible talent! Thank you! The new remodel looks great as well, they also carry the best products and will give honest suggestions for your needs!

The salon itself is nice enough,(it can get a bit loud) with the shampoo area set up to be a calm, quiet place in a separate room. However, the customers and stylist’s kept talking in that area the day I was there, so it’s not really used as it was designed to be. The neck massage and warm towel were 5 star though. What I didn’t like was the constant push/​upselling of products during my appointment. All in, the stylist tried to sell me over $ 250 worth of products and it caused constant interruption to my appointment. I came in with a picture of what I was looking for: blonde with blonde highlights and the stylist appeared to be listening during what I thought was a very clear 15 min. consultation. However, at the 4hr mark, after she finally blew my hair out, my hair was all over ash? My head was splitting from the 4hr nonstop chatter on the part of the stylist, and I left the place in tears. The stylist became defensive and did not apologize. When I got home, I noticed my hair was shorter on one side versus the other side. Poor haircut, poor color, 4 hrs in the chair and over $ 200 spent? I had a special event to go to so I was very upset. I did email the manager describing my experience with the picture I had shown the stylist and one showing what I left with requesting a full refund, which I received. That is the only reason I give this salon 2 stars. If you are a new client, be prepared that their business model includes pushing products throughout the appointment because the stylists work on commission. Also, either the manager or the stylist taking a moment to say «I’m sorry» sure would have gone a long way.

Not only is The atmosphere nice, and modern and clean, they give you healthy snacks and water upon arrival, and play current and upbeat music as well as complimentary head/​neck massages with the service .
The stylist I see (Bree) is so great with everything and highly recommended among the other ones too.

Kynlee is AWESOME! Don’t let her Junior Stylist status discourage you, she’s an absolute master of her craft!
I showed her a picture and described what I was thinking and I am more than satisfied! I’m a natural brunette and wanted to step away from highlights and do a soft balayage to transition into more of a blonde. She did exactly what I asked as well as added a creative touch of her own, and I’m glad I trusted her!

I was a little nervous since this is my first time with LF and I didn’t know what to expect. Tori was such a sweetheart. I showed her picture of the hairstyle I wanted, and she turned it into reality! At the end of my visit, she wrote down the products that she used. She also gave me some great suggestions about treating my hair type (fine & thin). The place was clean and modern. Parking was not an issue and I came on Saturday. It was a great experience!

It’s official, I love you LF! I’ve had my hair cut here 5 times now and I walk out of here with a consistently great haircut each and every time (thanks, Jessica!). Location is in the heart of downtown where parking can be a challenge, I just park in the pay lot where it’s free for the first hour and 2.50 for each additional hour (2.50 for two hours in a secure pay lot? that’s practically free in my book).
As for the salon, it’s a great, professional atmosphere without the pretension. Everyone is super friendly and knowledgeable, which I think speaks very highly of the establishment/​management. Prices will vary depending on service and stylist of course, but I always walk out of here feeling great and not feeling like I’ve overpaid for a shoddy haircut (something I’ve experienced in other area salons). Just an FYI — Jessica’s also quite adept at the brow wax, something I also avoided having done in the area for quite some time.

Moving from CA, I was skeptical I would find a high end salon with great products, techniques and stylists who have that above and beyond skill. Not only did I find it but for a much more reasonable price! I came in with muddy dark brassy blonde hair with a band of color darker than my light roots from a previously done, mismatched ombré. I wanted to go back to blonde. I did not think it would be possible to achieve a non brassy blonde in 1 visit but Bree pulled it off seamlessly! She was amazing! She took the extra time to use different volume bleaches throughout the weaving process to protect my hair and achieve the color needed in each section and added a baldy age to the remaining. She taught me things along the way and totally pampered my hair! I haven’t walked out of a salon truly satisfied and happy in a long time but Bree is the real deal… and honestly the salon was pretty full. Every stylist seemed to be doing a phenomenal job with their client and they will consult each other which makes you feel safe you have a team working on your hair! So happy I found a new stylist and salon!

I am incredibly picky when it comes to where I get my hair cut. I was very nervous about trying this place, as every other place I have gone to in Boise is so-​so. Upon arriving I was offered a beverage. I love good service like that. My stylist sat down and asked about my hair. I let her know my problems and that I am working on growing my pixie. She hatched out a plan and explained exactly what she was going to do. I love her! I will definitely be back.

Jenny did an amazing job saving my home dyed hair with an incredible baliage. Lunatic Fringe gave the best salon experience I have ever had! Jenny took her time to make sure she was giving me exactly what I wanted and even asked other staff to help make sure my hair was perfect. The atmosphere was fun and friendly and I am so greatly for my new more natural look. I would recommend Jenny to anyone looking to dye their hair, especially if you are wanting a natural ombré, she’s a magic working. Thanks Jenny!

Per the description of a two-​star rating, Meh, I’ve experienced better. While I’m not unhappy with my hair, I’m unhappy with my experiences at Lunatic Fringe. The salon is EXPENSIVE for Boise. I’m talking as much as double what other downtown salons charge. It seems that the salon encourages its stylists to sell as much product and makeup as possible – they always send you home with a list of what they used on you that day. I don’t like feeling pressure to purchase products, especially when the services are already so expensive.
Also, on more than one occasion my appointment was not started on time (for various reasons) and my appointment was also cancelled and rescheduled without my authorization.
One thought – as they are located in BoDo, they should really validate parking, but they do not.
Although I’m fairly happy with my hair, I’m not $ 200-​per-​visit happy.

I was recently married in Boise. My bridesmaids and I required flapper era hair and makeup for my 1920’s themed wedding. I was referred to Lunatic Fringe by my wedding planner and they exceeded all of our LA elitist expectations! Levi coordinated appointments for my five girlfriends, on site visit and run through for me and made paying for the group simple. The real treat came on the day of the wedding. My bridesmaids looked gorgeous! I couldn’t have been happier with their hair and makeup. And Jenny, the stylist who transformed me on the big day is my hero. She totally got the look I was going for and made me feel prettier than I’ve ever been. The whole team at Lunatic Fringe won my love and anytime I’m in Boise I will definitely visit for a bit of styling.

This is by far the best customer service I received while in Boise! It is worth the money to be completely pampered by their passionate team of stylists. You can just tell they have a strong culture of loving their craft. I felt my stylist, Jessica, got to know me personally and thoroughly enjoys her work. Lunatic Fringe is a modern salon with a trendy feel to it located in downtown BODO, the salon itself is bright with quite a few stations. Every time I have been there the service has been fantastic, from the owners to the assistants to my stylist. The main products they use & offer are Kerastase, Bumble & Bumble and Paul Mitchell.
Salons are all different but for me when I choose a salon really I am choosing a stylist that I will return to again and again. That stylist for me is Noelle, first off she is sweet as can be, laid back and easy to talk to. Secondly she does a terrific job at explaining what she is doing and consulting with you about what you want. She provides you with tips on how to manage your style or use the products. She is amazing at color, gives a great haircut and a fantastic neck & scalp massage.

Georgia is the best!
This is the best salon in Boise. I was actually really surprised to find a salon like this in Boise; it is very chic! Levi and his wife are great. The staff are wonderful; they are very professional and friendly. Georgia is the best hair stylist; she listens to what you want and adds a bit of her touch as well. She creates the most beautiful layers! Another bonus is this salon uses Kerastase products which are the best! If need be, an intern/​assistant will help the hair stylist blow out your hair; having two people blow out my hair always makes me feel so pampered!
Everything about this salon is wonderful; from the cute little «VOSS» water bottles they offer you when you walk in the door to Levi’s friendly face scheduling your next appt. Great salon!

In my experience it’s always been hard to find a great place to get my hair cut when moving to a new city. When I moved to Boise 3 years ago this wasn’t the case. Lunatic Fringe had just opened their doors down the street from where I worked in BoDo so I gave them a shot and I’ll never go anywhere else.
The staff is very professional, personable and everyone seems to really love what they do. I imagine it has something to do with the great people and a salon that has an excellent atmosphere.
