Went for the prime rib and«World famous» salad bar. It was early. Probably 6:00 on a Friday night and only a few diners. The service was pathetic. The wait staff was more interested in standing around the front door. The«famous» salad bar must be famous for being bad. Maybe 15 things on it. All tired and sad looking. But the worst was the prime rib. The meat tasted like it was rancid. I took 2 bites. Server never even asked about the food. It was awful. I had heard they had been revived. Let them die already.

I have had better steaks at Applebee’s it tasted more like a roast and I ordered the prime rib

The food was ok. Me being a steak guy judge steaks pretty hard. I tried the cowboy ribeye, prime rib, and filet. Each had good flavor from the aging process, but that is it. The texture for each cut of meat was mediocre and the 28 oz cowboy ribeye was more like 20 oz. We also tried their seafood specials which were nothing super special. Overall I don’t think we’ll go back but worth it just to say that we’ve tried the place. Oh and the jalapeño soup was uniquely delicious.

Called on a Friday night at 7:00PM to make a res. I asked did they have any prime rib? Was told plenty. Showed up at 8:00PM, and was seated. Our server showed up 15 minutes after we were set. I told her that my wife and myself wanted the prime rib. Was told there was only a couple of servings left, and they were well done. Long ways from the medium rare that we like. Asked why that was after talking to them 75 minutes earlier and was told plenty to have. Told her that was not going to work for us. She did not give a shit about it. Will never go back. Miss the old place on Emerald. Paid for my 4.50 soda and ended up at Quinn’s. Better service, lower cost, and had what we wanted. BTW, there were 3 tables in use at the time. Not like the place was packed and everyone ordered the prime rib. My .02 worth.

I will forever love LS&B. Amazing atmosphere with great food. I always opt for the barrel steak. Best part is the left overs I get to eat later. Salad bar is always great as well as the steamer clams or bacon wrapped scallops. Tonight they featured a local artist with live music in the bar area. This restaurant has been a staple in the area for years. Love it!

Our food was fantastic! Too bad our dining experience was ruined by the rudest waitress on the planet. If you want crappy service, be sure to sit in the bar on a Friday nite. You will be treated to the worst service possible.

Love this place! It’s so ld school meets modern steakhouse. Old school salad bar with delicious soups. The meat is fabulous and I especially love the potatoes au gratin.

When I pay $ 50 for a steak I have certain expectations. I shouldn’t have to drown my steak in salt and pepper to give it some flavor. High end Steak House price, with low end quality and taste. My wife and I were both very disappointed with our steaks and I will NEVER return. The service and atmosphere was nice… but the steak left a lot to be desired. Better off traveling the extra mile to Ruth’s Steak house… that’s what a $ 50 steak should taste like

We went to dinner there on Friday night. There was a one man band playing and the staff were friendly. They told us they didn’t have any seating inside the restaurant(although there were multiple open tables all night) so we sat at the bar. We split the bacon wrapped scallops and a prime rib steak. Both were very good. The price was adequate for a steak house and the wine was very good.

My favorite place in Boise. I can’t say enough about this place. I have hit lunch, happy hour, dinner and have picked up food here to go. It is always great. My favorite dish has to be the prime rib dinner. It comes with a salad bar, and love the options, including the soups. I order my prime rib medium rare with a baked potato, and they always come through on the food. The mean just melts in your mouth and the baked potato with everything adds to the meal. I have tried the horseradish mashed potatoes and au gratin potatoes, you really can’t go wrong. The sourdough rolls also are amazing! The wine selection here is also fantastic. I love grabbing a glass of Merlot from Argentina for dinner. I enjoy sitting in the bar, as there is always a game on or live music. In the winter, the fireplace is also just right. The restaurant is a wonderful place for a date, friends getting together or for a birthday!

Last evening I took one of my nearest and dearest friends out for dinner. I chose Lock Stock and Barrel, as she had never been there. I must tell you that, Kate, our waitress was absolutely wonderful. She had the patience of an angel. We started with crab cakes, delicious, as always. I had the black and blue ribeye, au gratin spuds. My friend had the sirloin tips. Both meals we re terrific. My steak was as rare as possible, just the way I like it. My fried had the sirloin tips. Again, terrific. How do I know? We sampled each other. I jokingly told our waitress that this was our first date. She was happy for us and wished us well. I can’t wait to go back for more.

Soup and salad bar was good. We tried the BBQ shrimp appetizer with risotto which was really good. We had the rack of lamb and dry aged New York strip. The meal was decent but didn’t knock my socks off. Can get the same quality food at Texas Roadhouse for half the price. The atmosphere was casual and for being busy it wasn’t extremely loud which was nice. Our server was friendly and did a good job.

Nice casual atmosphere. Salad and soup bar very nice. Wife’s filet was undercooked. She ordered medium. It came very rare. Sent it back and it came back rare. Waitress blamed the lighting… really? Ruined our anniversary dinner. Update: Manager comped steak. Gave dessert and gift card. We still think a steak house should be able to a filet mignon medium.

This place is great for steaks. High quality food and drinks, but with a very casual feel. We love going on Sundays for their prime rib special. My other favorite is the Oscar Filet. Great salad bar(with soup) and wine and beer selection. And try the horseradish mashed potatoes for your side — so good! We’ve always had excellent service and always feel like the staff truly love what they are doing. They make great recommendations and really take the time to make each person feel they are the only ones they are waiting on. I always want to try other things on the menu, and eventually I will, but so far I’ve found my favorites and can’t wait to go back.

From outlook of town and visited for the first time. Was greeted courteously, seated promptly, and asked for our drink order right away. We ordered steaks and prime rib, agrautin potatoes, and green beans on the side. Everything was excellent. The wine list was very good(and I own a winery). Selected the Gifford Hirlinger street line red which was excellent. Our server Kate was fantastic. What a gem!

I enjoyed the prime-rib here. It was soaked in the Au Jus, served with a side of creamy horseradish sauce. It was excellent. I posted a picture, so you too can drool over it. The green beans were excellent steamed and sauteed in butter. I took on the salad bar option because it sounded like it was first-timer thing and I’m glad I did. I wasn’t able to eat it all because I wanted to save room but I thought it was something fun and every first-timer should do it. I can’t speak to the other food items here, but if you are craving a prime rib, check out Lock Stock.

It’s average or a little less for top dollar. I was invited by friends u hadn’t been to LS&B in years and I hadn’t because I knew what was going to occur before I walked in the door, but was hopeful things had changed… they didn’t. My steak was over cooked and we waited at least 45 minutes, far more than we should have since there was just 4 tables. I had to send my meal back and wait for it again. When it came the steak was cooked right but it wasn’t nearly as hot as it should have been. I suspect they start with a frozen steak(but that’s a guess) The mushrooms seemed like they were canned. I hope someone from Lock Stock and Barrel reads this you should make sure your steak is cooked right, you should make your plates hot and everything should be sizzling when it arrives. Otherwise count the days until bankruptcy because Ruth Chris steak house is going eat your lunch and then your dinner. It’s too bad as I remember a day you had to wait an hour at the door to get into LS&B.

I’ve been coming to this place for a very long time. It never disappoints from the signature prime rib, barrel steaks to the fresh seafood. Always excellent. The ambiance is very old timer feeling but that’s what makes it great. The menus are thick wood and about as big as your car. Get the mud pie for dessert it’s a delectable treat!

Going to start with the positive: staff were extremely helpful, friendly, polite and absolutely deserve to be working in a great steakhouse. Otherwise, I was really hoping for a lot better. The ambience /décor is adequate, but nothing too special. It definitely strikes me as a fairly laid-back steakhouse, although the prices and dishes(in concept, not execution) are going for something nicer. We started with salads. My wife and I opted for salad bar, which was sort of like Sizzler, but with fewer options. There is also soup to be had, if you go for the salad bar, and the clam chowder was pretty much out of the can(or tasted a lot like it). My mother got the sandpiper tribute salad(bay shrimp, cashews, creamy garlic dressing) that sounded amazing, but tasted pretty weird. The dressing was unbelievably garlicy(and that’s coming from someone who eats it raw in his pesto, hummus, tzatziki, etc.) and the texture of hard cashews with soft shrimp was too odd(I hope the Sandpiper does it better). My mother got the ribeye, an end cut, that was so salty as to be almost unpalatable. I got the ribeye and it was the same story; totally overseasoned, especially on the salt. My wife had a cedar planked salmon with honey-soy glaze, but the salmon was fishy and the honey taste was waaaay overpowering. I think this place could make a few changes and could justify the prices they are charging for food. As for the overly-salted beef and overly-honeyed salmon, I hope this was a fluke occurence. I can’t understand all of the positive reviews on Unilocal when our food was so, so sub-par. I won’t return, as I know I could spend that money at Chandler’s, Ruth Chris or Tavern, and get a better tasting steak. Fork does ribeye much better.
