EXCEPT the delicious Paleo treats, everything in here is complete junk food /ingredients. I’m a coeliac & wouldn’t put 99% of what they sell /make in my body. Also, PLEASE put ingredients on your goods in the store. Super frustrating.

Although I think this is an amazing place to find all kinds of fresh baked gluten free products management leaves much to be desired. I happened to be at another place in the plaza so decided to swing in and see if I could find a yummy gluten free dessert since I hadn’t been to the bakery in a while. By the conclusion of my interaction with the owner, not only did I not buy anything, I will never go back again. I understand that he is passionate about gluten free living and when he asked me to sit down and talk for a minute I gladly did as I’m passionate about health myself. After 10 – 15 minutes of going on and on about the capitalist nature of the healthcare system and food industry, which I“m familiar with since I teach Sociology of Health at the university, I began to get impatient and spoke up to get the conversation moving along faster. I stated that I was familiar with these concepts and we could move the main point, to which I felt like he responded very condescendingly, as if he didn’t believe that I could possibly be as informed as he was. Additionally, when I explained that I had been gluten free, but didn’t see major results so had concluded I don’t have celiac disease, in essence, he told me that I must not have done it right and gluten must have been getting into my diet from other sources. I found this extremely condescending especially because I’m a certified health coach and feel I have a good understanding of what eating gluten free entails. Later when I didn’t demonstrate mastery of all the auto-immune diseases he stated, «I thought you were a health coach?» So, not only was I sucked into an awkward time absorbing conversation that is not really providing me any knew information, I’ve now been called a liar twice. I hadn’t intended on spending 30+ minutes in conversation when I entered the store and, now was awkwardly trying to figure out how to end, whatever this was, and get out of the store without appearing to be rude myself. I love to have good conversation and I believe everyone has something to teach me, but the way that the owner went about this was rude, condescending, and not approached in a positive way that would encourage others on their path to healthy living both on a physical and emotional level. Good intentions aside I will not support businesses that think it is appropriate to treat their customers this way.

Jake’s is the go-to spot for all things gluten free. Daily fresh baked bread, muffins, hamburger buns, etc. As well as, a host of other food options to stock your pantry. My favorites are their peasant bread and the cinnamon rolls. The pumpkin chocolate chip muffins are pretty amazing too. I also like using their pie crust and rolls for holiday baking. Many of their items are also dairy free, for those who need it. The staff here is very knowledgeable and very friendly. The owner, Clint, is a wealth of information and very passionate about a world without gluten. They always have items to sample, so you never have to feel you are taking a risk before buying their baked goods. Yes, the prices are a little high. But… anyone on a gf diet knows #1 gf is expensive no matter what #2 gf isn’t always truly gf, for sure here everything is #3 it’s a local small business with overhead costs. They are A-1 in my book and truly made cooking this holiday season, so much easier!

The baked goods here are delicious, and the owner is very very knowledgeable and teaches with humor. I’m not diagnosed with any intolerance to gluten, but the ingredients are less proccessed here, so you’ll certainly be eating better. Pretty expensive, but if you’re health requires you eat this strict diet, it’s a one stop shop. I like the shopping center, everything you need in one place, produce, meat, and Jake’s!

So my family has recently decided to adopt a gluten free lifestyle, not so much for a specific medical reason, but we experimented with it briefly and we were amazed at how much better we started to feel in general. It isn’t for everybody, and I would certainly say that it is something that should only be done if you are willing to stick with it. But if you come to that decision, Jake’s will be your new best friend. While I wouldn’t necessarily recommend doing all your«weekly grocery shopping» type stuff here, it is a godsend for specific situations that will really help you keep a gluten free lifestyle. The first big perk of Jake’s is that you know walking in the door that EVERYTHING on the shelves is gluten free. There’s no reading labels, there’s no guess work. If you absolutely, positively must know that something is GF, you never have to worry at Jake’s. That makes it great when you just need to pick up a specific item or two, like a dressing or a sauce, or some other kind of supplement to a meal. Rather than browsing the store for half an hour reading labels, at Jake’s you can just pick what sounds good and grab it. No guessing necessary. The second big perk of Jake’s is the bakery. Their GF baked goods are awesome. Whether you just need a loaf of bread, or you want a cupcake or cookies your kid can take with them to a party… Jake’s has you covered. I’ve sampled a lot of their baked goods already and you can’t go wrong. Frankly I could hardly tell the difference from more traditional baked goods. This is amazing for somebody like me who unfortunately still loves his carbs. I still need me a hunk of bread and a cookie now and then. The third big perk of Jake’s is their«take and bake» foods. They have GF pizza, pot pies, and other dishes that you can grab and take home for a quick and easy dinner. This is great when things just sort of fall apart on you and you need a fast dinner. We’ve all been there. And when you are trying to be GF, these can be the toughest days, because when things go wrong, all the typical«go-to’s» are out of the question for a GF diet. The only catch here is that Jake’s closes at 6pm, so if you typically eat late, you may still be out of luck. The bottom line is that Jake’s helps you stay the course. It provides a lot of simple solutions that encourage you to stick with the GF diet rather than abandon it. Whether it’s baked goods, take and bake meals, or a bottle of salad dressing… Jake’s stops you from«cheating,» and that to me is the biggest benefit. Supports like this are fundamental to any major lifestyle change, and Jake’s provides that in spades.

Very friendly staff! Delicious oat bread! Nice & soft, not crumbly & gross like Udi’s bread. This was our first visit & we were made to feel like we were old friends coming in for a visit. Tons of gf choices. I will be back for sure!

What a great place, friendly staff and tons of gluten free products! We stopped in on our way through Boise intending to just get a gf snack and ended up getting a bunch more. Gluten free or not their baked goods are amazing!

A five star rating needs to deliver on every aspect and Jakes does. Knowledgable employees, diverse product selection, awesome location next to a farmer’s market, and incredible baked goods. Seriously, the bread is a home run. Put it to the test against any gluten free bread(or wheat bread) and it will win. The cookies and muffins are delicious and don’t suffer from the usual, «good, but…» taste of other gluten free products. I am Celiac and this is a mandatory destination for anyone who wants to buy gluten free foods without having to read the label!

Jake’s has an unbeatable selection of gluten free, dairy free and every other allergy-specific food you can think of(although gluten free is their specialty). I’m a regular customer to Jake’s because three out of four in my family have a gluten intolerance. Jake’s has everything you can imagine from crackers, cereal, baking mixes, breads, frozen foods, you name it and they have it. Last year they started their own bakery in the store; everything I’ve tried is delicious! For Thanksgiving we had gluten free stuffing and rolls, pumpkin and berry pie. On a weekly basis we buy their french bread, muffins and our new favorite, vanilla cupcakes. Jake’s offers gluten free cooking classes and informational courses almost every month. The owners and their staff are very informative and helpful with any ingredient questions and they give excellent recommendations. Jake’s is definitely a gluten free heaven!
