The décor is typical of the trend right now — an urban, industrial skeleton with artistic touches and implications of a greener lifestyle. In general, I really liked the décor and feel. As for the fashion? As my eyes skimmed the mens clothing, the things that registered made me cringe. Too much flash. Too much bling. Too much«look-at-me-I’m-trying-so-hard.» All in all, I didn’t pay much attention to the men’s clothes after that, so don’t take my word for it. Most of the women’s clothing was for going out. Maybe about 25% was casual wear. It looked like they had some really fun short dresses. They did have a lot of jeans, though the sizes seemed limited. I found a pair of simple, dark jeans(no rhinestones on the pockets for me) for $ 92 that I debated about for awhile. I fear that depressing, exhausting, maddening all-day jeans shopping outing that tends to arise every year or so. I’m proud to say that I’m finally learning that I should never pass up a pair of jeans that look good, are comfortable, and under $ 100. That, combined with the fact that the owner/guy working was really helpful and not at all pushy, solidified the sale. What else? The accessories were certainly not my style… I recall seeing variations of rhinestone encrusted crosses, skulls, etc. Surprisingly enough, a mere two feet away from that dazzling display of atrociousness, there appeared to be an array or western-inspired and beaded jewelry. Sorta like culture shock in the world of accessories, I guess… weird. Oh, and I noticed that their return policy is not so hot. There are no returns. Only exchanges, within 7 days, with the receipt. Also, I am very curious about the«free alterations» that Melissa T mentioned. I was clueless about it and as the guy rang me up I asked what he would recommend for hemming the jeans. He mentioned an alteration shop downtown, but said nothing about free, or in-store, or discount… hmmmmm…

I started out as a huge fan. But, as the ‘fashion show’ phenom start raging out of control, I lost some interest. Here are the pros: Cute clothes, good price point. Free alterations. Location in the Linen District(all 1 ½ blocks of it) is cool. Features events on 1st Thursday and local artists. Erica and Tom(owners) are very involved with their business and Tom is very helpful with clothing when you need it! Cons are as follows: Some clothes are better constructed then others. A close friend bought some EXPENSIVE jeans that came in that week… the following week on the rack they were priced WAYLOWER. Not cool, especially when it was supposed to be a ‘deal’. I personally got a bit of the runaround on a business end of an event. But, despite these things, Boise needs some well priced, trendy, cute clothes. So make your own decisions and happy shopping.

Foxtrot is great because it has cute stuff with a focus on local designers. They have a good range of «green» fashions, great accessories and fun art. Totally fun place that isn’t overpriced.
