If I were to rate Bogus on the skiing alone, it would be three stars. There is a good variety of terrain, but a lot of shorter runs and painfully long cat tracks. I guess they can’t help the amount of vertical they have to work with and I compare them to other places I’ve boarded such as Park City and Mt. Hood. There are several things I do love about Bogus, other than the fact it’s my home mountain. They have a terrain park with a variety of rails and some kickers(it varies). They have upgraded to 7 lifts, including 3 high speed quads and one triple. Three chairs are still doubles — two old ones and a newer beginner chair. They have two carpets and tubing hill, as well. The alpine skiers have two full-service lodges to use(one is mid-mountain) and there’s a full-service Nordic lodge with a host of trails. You can’t beat the $ 199 season pass sale, but the price is going up(like everything). You can also mountain bike here in the summer. There’s something for everyone up here in the winter. I wish the road was straighter, but it’s only 16 miles from the bottom. Looking forward to some future expansion!

Between Bogus Basin and the Boise River green belt, the city of Boise is the coolest place to live in the Northwest! Just last night I went night skiing at Bogus, and with a coupon spent a grand total of ten bucks! Sure it would’ve been twenty without said coupon(which you get by purchasing a pepsi at the Shell station at the bottom of the hill), but even so, WHAT A DEAL! Winter brings snow tubing, skiing and boarding right to Boise’s back door and when things heat up you’ve got hiking, biking and frisbee golf. This place is an outdoor enthusiast ‘s dream. Good hills for all levels, friendly staff and all around convenience make this a great spot. The only downside is, because of the relatively low elevation, the snow can sometimes be icy and intermittent, which can make for a short season some years. On a good Tuesday night in the middle of February though, it’s amazing.
