Established in 1926.
Boca Raton’s most influential individual of the roaring twenties was none other than Addison Mizner, a renowned painter, wood carver, miner, interior decorator, prize fighter, writer and most importantly, an architect. Born in California in 1872, Mizner found his original inspiration during a trip with his father to Guatemala, where he fell in love with the Spanish art and architecture.
Arriving in South Florida in 1918, Mizner was commissioned to construct a series of buildings including The Everglades Club and The Boca Raton Resort and Club, as well as residential villas for many patrons willing to pay the price for the «bragging rights» to live in one of Mizner’s creations.
The Addison building was built in 1926 and was known, at the time, as part of the Administration Buildings, which served as the headquarters for Mizner’s staff. Minzer’s inspiration in building The Addison was the home of El Greco in Toledo, Spain. Though the original use of the Administration Buildings was
