I was given 3 available dates for the truck to come load my home and make its way to my destination. I was told by Tony (Like a Lime Doritos chip — we talked about how he was from Brooklyn, NY/​neighboring area). I was given 3 dates — the last date (10/​29/​2015) was the very, very last day my items could be in my house and I told him it was pushing it. I was assured by Tony the truck would be at my house promptly @ 8:00 am 10÷29÷15 and the truck would be loaded/​leaving my house by 10:00 am.
By 8:15 am the truck was not at my house; Tony was going to call the driver and call me back — he didn’t call back. I called again at 9:00 — 9:15 am asking where the truck was, Tony: «they are really close to your house» I asked «where are they specifically?» — Tony couldn’t give me an answer. By 10:15 — 10:30 am the truck still was not at my home. I called Tony and got his voice mail. I got a call from the truck driver (Jose) whom was with a sub-​contracting company Silver Van Lines. Jose (the driver) told me he was close to my house; where are you I asked — he stated at the weight station off the 880 freeway in Fremont, CA. They had a flat tire on a new truck??? This location is at least 2 hours from my house; the truck was to be loaded and leaving my house by 10:00 am and yet he was still 2 hours+ from my home. I was assured by Tony with National Moving Group that the truck would be loaded and on its way by 10:00 am and the truck is still 2 hours+ away. Keeping in mind this was the very, very last day I could be in my home and the clock was ticking.
I then got a call from Aaron and Jose from Silver Van Lines. Aaron started giving me excuses about the situation. I asked «what time did Jose leave the office?» Aaron told me 8:15 am. I told him — the arrival time was to be promptly at 8:00 am 10/​29/​2015; this was clearly communicated to Tony at NMG. I asked Aaron if he could do the move for a flat rate — I purposed the amount. He smugly told me no, it was against the law and where was I going to get a moving company so last minute to get me out of the house? With his screw you customer service attitude I got off the phone and had to make other arrangements.
I’m now disputing the charges I incurred from National Moving Group as they want their deposits up front. Unfortunately, I will likely have to take National Moving Group to court to get my refunds for the contract they could fulfill. I sure hope not.

BUYER BEWARE!!! In July 2015, I contracted with National Moving Group for a move from Nashville to Colorado. After doing some research into moving companies, it was in my opinion, that I would have been charged a much higher rate at the end of the move due to some vague items (didn’t list the carrier moving our stuff or the storage facility, price could be based on weight or cubic feet) in the contract. I tried to cancel two weeks later and was told it was past the 72 hour cancellation time and I would lose my deposit. I was not aware of this ridiculous short term cancellation policy. It was in the contract, but in normal type in the middle of a long contract! None of the employees I talked to warned me of their ridiculous and unfair policy. In my opinion, they take advantage of consumers by not verbally mentioning the policy and probably get to keep a lot of deposits for very little work! I did try to dispute the charge with my credit card company, but with no luck. The rep that I contracted with also used high pressure tactics to get me to sign a contract (said the price was heavily discounted and only good if I signed that day).

they are the worst ever! unethical and rip people off. never never use these guys… especially the drivers they use…3 weeks to get our stuff. they said 4 to 8 days… never believe these guys!

Excellent long distance moving company. My experience moving across the country was long, painful and exhausting. National Moving Group made it easy, simple and saved me big! Highly recommended!

If we could give them no stars we would. DO NOT use this company. Our stuff didn’t arrive for 3 weeks. Went from Michigan to New Jersey and sat in a warehouse to be loaded up again to come to California. Arrived with scratches, dings and dents on every piece of furniture. We haven’t even opened boxes to see the condition of those items. My daughters crib is not even usable it’s so messed up. Boxes were all slammed and jammed into the truck and essentially crushed down. Boxes labeled extremely fragile were at the bottom of stacks and holding all the weight of everything on top. Almost half of our boxes were opened too! This company will tell you everything you want to hear and once they get your money and broker out your move to another terrible company they have nothing to do with you. Moving is always a headache however this process was absolutely absurd.
Just an update as we go through boxes. At least one thing is broken in every box this far. Boxes that were opened were rummaged through. My daughters piggy bank was taken out, dumped in search for cash and thrown back in without the stopper to hold all the money in. The lack of consideration and professionalism of this company is absolutely sickening

The movers did not show up after repeatedly delaying. We were therefore forced to abandon most of our belongings, resulting in thousands of dollars in losses. We are currently exploring class action lawsuit.

Avoid National Moving Group, Inc for any kind of move across country. They do not actually handle the move because they are only brokers. So even if you provide them all of the facts and get everything locked in you have no control over anything once your items have been picked up. Basically you are at the mercy of the company to whom they brokered the job. National Moving Group tried to raise the price while the moving truck was at the pickup location even after they had locked in a bid so you can image what the rest of the move from from Eastern US to the Pacific Northwest was like. The companies with whom they contracted my move were even worse than they are. The biggest issue was that I was told one thing when the realty was another. Had someone just explained how it was all going to work up front it would have been better. I would have opted to go a different route such as finding a driver to work with direct. But in this case once my items were in their control. Instead of being brought across country by one driver they were off loaded at different warehouses along the way. It took 30 days for my family heirlooms to arrive. I had no idea where they were or when they would arrive during this time period. No one communicated with me unless I called and even then I could get no meaningful answers as to schedules. The drivers were all nice. It is just the companies that I would avoid. They want to be paid up front before they complete the job and will try to collect money for anything they can find such as over-​sized items, shuttle service, you name it. I had all of this covered in my contract but had to stand my ground over and over again. I just got tired of the fight and don’t forget they have your stuff so it is hard to fight when they have the upper hand. Just find a better company!!!

This is such a scam and a very shady business! I called to get a quote for my recent move and they stated they needed a deposit. I told them I didn’t want to put a deposit down until I had spoken with my partner. I thought this was very clear per our phone conversation. They said they would give me the quote until the end of the day. With the time difference between east coast and west coast, they were closed by the time I had made a decision. They emailed me the estimate and the next day I noticed my credit card had been charged. I called them and said I didn’t agree to this and the guy was so rude about it. He said that since I waited until the next day, they charged me the deposit and there is a 4% cancellation fee. Though I’m out that money, I’m so glad I didn’t move forward with this company. It was a shady business from the beginning.

This company is a scam. Greg from National Moving Group lied to me and told me he had been with the company four years and that the company had been in business for ten years. Later, I found out that Greg had been with the company four months and the company had only been around less than two years.
I should have listened to my gut when I was speaking with Greg on the phone. His nervous, «dah, dah, dahs» when he was calculating numbers and giving information was a sign that he was dishonest, yet I ignored my instinct. And did I ever pay for it! The company they farmed my move out to did not turn up on the day of the move as promised, and when they did, their lead guy, Ben from Low Cost Movers was aggressive and rude.
Greg never told me they were farming out my move. He said National Moving Group was handling my move. My last two moves were covered by relocation and were with reputable groups such as Allied and Mayflower. I needed to save money on this one because I was laid off and had to pay out of my own pocket. Not only did the move cost me almost 7k when I was quoted 5k, more than half of my things were broken into pieces when they arrived.
I regret not filing a credit card dispute, but after all the emotional drain I went through dealing with Greg, and then Ben, I had no energy left to pursue what I viewed as a losing battle.

GUYS BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY
They all talk nice and stuff. For my move, they hired another fraud company. Those movers held my stuff hostage and harassed the hell out of me. National Moving Group will talk to you as if they are the most righteous people in the world, don’t fall for that. They are usually hand in glove with the incompetent/​fraud moving companies they hire for the move. As someone else said, they will tell you the file a suit against the moving company. I ended up paying almost double the contract amount for my move, an increase of almost 85%. The estimate/​price given by national moving group in the contract is a sham. I have already filed a complaint against them, hope some action is taken against these conmen. At the end of the day, you are left to deal with two companies and once you pay the brokerage to National Moving Group, they will have nothing to do with you and you will be left to deal with the fraud moving company which national moving group would have hired in the first place. Again, Beware of this company.

Worse moving experience ever! Find local people. Big companies draw up contracts and charges for every single little thing (2^nd floor, packing materials, if apartment door 2 loading dock more than 100 feet, tapes, etc). They act as a broker moving company & have no control over what the moving company they find does. Jay at NMG called me everyday pressuring me to put down a deposit. After I did, he wasn’t available for questions or concerns. National Moving Group (NMG) found another horrible moving company in houston called BEST MOVING & STORAGE, to move my stuff to LA. Don’t be fooled by their name, they are the worse! NMG quoted me on 2,000 pounds or less, WORST moving & storage came and added 500 pounds more. I only had 17 boxes mainly small ones and about 6 large, a dinning table, and a queen mattress. Worst moving not only argued that my household goods could be more than 2000 pounds and that they wanted a buffer just in case, they also charge for everything. Packing materials and clothes to cover your mattresses, chairs, anything that isn’t in a box. I asked how he knew it could be more than 2000 lbs, The guy said they would weigh the truck, but they didn’t! I ended up not taking a lot of house hold items just because I didn’t want to pay $ 500 more. He threatened to leave my apartment without moving anything if I did not pay the extra fees from the new quotes and estimates. I stood my grounds. We negotiated for an hour and I paid some extra $$$.
They delivered it 11 days later. Some things broken, whatever. I expected more to be broken, but I’m not done unpacking. But the new delivery guy charged me another $ 75 because he refused to park his truck inside my apartment parking lot and said it was more than 100 feet from his truck.
They squeeze money from you in every way possible & seem very proud of it because after Ales was wrapping up my delivery, he said something like «I’m done here now, we go to the next customer and ask for at least $ 150 extra delivery charge». If looks could kill.
Very frustrating and disappointing experience.

Buyer Beware!
Bottom line: I am most disappointed with National Moving Group (NMG). I moved this past summer and now I’m out over $ 2,000 than what I was originally quoted to pay despite a «Not-​to-​Exceed Cost» in the contract, my job was subcontracted out to an incompetent company though NMG advertised as a full service moving company. Further, my items arrived late and I suffered property damage. While pleasant on the phone, for the most part, they will talk a good game and even side with you but place all blame all on the subcontracted company and will take absolutely no actions to rectify the situation they created.
Details:
1. Signed a contract with a binding «Not-​to-​Exceed Cost» clause in the contract
2. NMG clearly identified themselves as a full service moving company in their «About Us» emailed to me in May.
3. Unbeknownst to me, they subcontracted with another moving company who was to honor the original contract
4. Three price increases
5. Charged for shuttle bus
6. Property damage. Even purchased a protective plastic covering for couch to prevent such damage.
7. Moved from a 1-​bed to a 550ft studio with no unusually heavy furniture yet, weight of truck doubled. My inventory list was exact when they called me two days before the pick up and actually less than pick up day
8. Late delivery despite wiring subcontracted company over half of what I was required for a speedy delivery
9. I was left dealing with two companies, several contracts and no clear point of contact person.
10. Tried to settle with NMG but they claimed they have nothing to do with it. Tried going through the subcontracted company’s claims process but nothing — not even a phone call.
11. I was left financially drained while both companies profited from breached terms

Livid. Considering legal action. Our «not to exceed» price was exceeded by about 30% on a large move. The «crew» who packed our things was assembled the day before via craigslist. They were hard working, but not very professional and, as we found out later, not very careful packing. For instance, about 100 CDs of mine ended up loose in a «large» box, which was (naturally) crushed. It will take a long time just to inventory all the damaged items.
The delivery was terrible. Despite our assurances, the items were transferred to another truck en route. The delivery crew was also assembled day-​of via craigslist. We have so far found at least one item from some other move (not ours), and we’ve found that all our clothing wardrobe boxes were re-​packed to use less space. My wive is *livid* that her clothes were unpacked by strangers in transit, and is naturally upset that her two desks were destroyed sometime in the process.
Go with a reputable company with professional employees.
Update 1÷6÷2015:
This is amazing. National Moving Group’s representative (I won’t use his name, but he was the «manager») actually suggested we file suit. He shared with us that the National Moving Group’s owner told him NOT to help us, both because of this review and because we had tried to recover damaged directly from National via our credit card. We protested the two charges (the original, and the add-​on charges before the move) on our credit card, but the manager said we wouldn’t be successful there — he also said we should file suit against the mover he contracted. He at first refused to help even talk to that company (McMover, out of Los Angeles), but later said he would be our «advocate.» That hasn’t worked out at all.
National Moving Group responded to our dispute saying that they are NOT responsible for any damages in moving, and that since they successfully scheduled our move they fulfilled their part of the «contract.» I shall have to proceed as they recommended and sue their partner /​3d party.
The «insurance» provided by the contracted moving company (McMover) is unreachable; I have no idea whether they would honor a claim, I am unable to even contact their «claims department» (which is, of course, yet another 3^rd party).
Seriously, either move your own stuff or go with another actual moving company (not a broker). We’d feel a lot better about things if we had at least destroyed our own stuff. As it is, we cringe every time we open a box, scared to find out what’s inside.

The main issue that i had with this moving coordinator/​shipping agent/​broker is the estimate to the final price. I called for an estimate and was given an estimate around the same price as other moving companies. I went with this broker because of the assurances and confidence that i received from the customer service rep Thomas gave over the first couple of phone calls. I learned later that only half of what he said was the honest truth. Here are some examples of what he said vs what really happened.
1) Thomas was going to be my main contact throughout the move and I would be dealing with him throughout.
1a) I called thomas several times after gave my binding estimate fee. Almost every time I called with a concern about the move or the actual movers, he transferred me to someone else due to his lack of expertise or someone else was in charge of that part of the move.
on two occasions I called to hear from one of his co workers that he was sick or his car broke down. both times it was just weird how the excuse was ready and given to me.
2) Called thomas with an updated list of my items and my estimate went up. Understandable, especially since this 90% accurate inventory update. I say 90 because I tried to sell items in the last week or so. Also he said, He over estimated on top of the items list I gave him
2a) When the movers arrived they quoted me $ 1000 more the then Thomas updated estimate. This was based on a visual estimate. I declined and asked to go through weighted scale as the NMG agent suggested I do because the estimate was so much different from Thomas’s estimate.
I have yet to see a weight scale receipt but did not want to have my items held hostage. I paid the new amount due to past reviews of people not getting their stuff at the new location.
I called NMG to seek resolution on the difference of the estimates and weight scale. Their response is that they did nothing wrong, their system uses average weights and I just had added $ 1400 worth of weight that was unaccounted for. I did add weight but the issue is that I was prepared to pay an extra 300 – 500 extra not $ 1400. The department that handles the moves said they would pass my issue to a manager but that they would not do anything anyway. I was asked what I wanted just to please me. No real intention of making things right.
Its my perception that the estimate they gave me over the phone was not as accurate as possible from their end. Am I to assume that this company adds $ 1400 to all of their estimates? and if its not the agents fault for that far of an inaccurate estimate, then the system they are using should be modified to consider increased weight of items. All in all it was a very stressful experience and saddening how nice they were up front and how in helpful they were after they received their portion of the moving money.
This was a cross country move and this broker used two moving companies to complete the transport.
Original estimate was $ 3100, final payment was about $ 4500
