Kapow

Friendly staff sat us down but our waiter was a little stand offish and had a fake niceness to him. Nice place to come with a group of friends. They have ramen and udon and pad thai! The chicken ramen was good, lacked a little bit of flavor but still good. The shrimp dumplings were okay. Skirt steak lo mein was pretty good.

I have been coming here for the last two years and each time I had a great experience. The service, no matter how busy, is good and the food always taste amazing. On the weekend nights it can get busy, but the wait isn’t terrible when compared to some other Boca restaurants. They offer an variety of small plates, dumplings, pork buns, main dishes, salads, and ramen noodle bowls. This is also a great place if you want just a few small plates with a few cocktails.

The noodles, man, the noodles. Probably my favorite place that I’ve found moving to South Florida. Great vibe, good music, and a killer happy hour. Oh, and PBR pounders. Sold.

Will be the last time I ever go there. They used to have good food which is why I dealt with the shitty service but after my disgusting left over floppy Asian mushroom buns and the horrendous bartender, never again.
Every time I go, I get the Brussels & cauliflower app with no bacon and the steamed Asian mushroom buns. First of all they never bring the appetizer first, when I go with friends all of our food is out of order and literally never comes at the same time. There is usually only one person eating at a time… crazy I know. Anywho, the gist is the order is wrong 70% of the time. On top of that the last time I went, I went with a male friend. Strictly platonic, so if my bar tender wants him, go for it girlfriend. But she was a straight up bitch to me. Every time she talked to him, it was all smiles and laughs, when she talked to me, it was monotone with a side of bitch face, on top of the soggy Asian buns I got that day. You will never get my business again and I used to go EVERY Tuesday.

Living less than 5 minutes walk from here gives me an inherit bias towards this wanna-​be noodle house. I love their happy hour and the crowd is young and fun. Staff is quick with a drink and always smiling. It’s packed at night and the outside service gets crazy, but worth hanging out at for the fun vibe and music of the area.
Shrimp pad Thai, not that great. Appetizers are good. Good but small rotating selection on tap. Loud and fun.

This Asian-​fusion noodle restaurant and bar is a favorite of ours. Great creative menu and excellent service.
Recently went for Cinco de Mayo and it was jumping with entertainment and buzz from sister restaurant Dubliner.
Our server Nick, who is outstanding, recommend the duck tostada and pork taquito. Both Excellent! And on the regular menu.
More new favorites to add to my list, ramen and udon still at the top.

Fun place. Service was great. Cocktail options were fun but they were out of several items required in some of the ones we wanted to order. The bacon and jalapeño rangoon were excellent. We also really enjoyed the steamed buns (we tried the duck and tuna). I ordered the skirt steak ramen, while it was good, I would not re-​order it. My absolute favorite item was the lavender crème brûlée. It is probably one of the top desserts I have ever had, absolutely incredible, I would return for this item alone!!!

Pros — the setting is nice, the bar is really pretty, the service and the drinks are good.
Cons — the food is not good.

I love Kapow! Have been there for brunch a few times but my favorite is happy hour. I love their dumplings and their «buns» which are super cheap and delicious.
The last time I went there was actually the best time ever because I was able to get a seat outside at the bar and had the coolest bartender ever. She gave us a bunch of tips on what to order so we tried a few different dishes that I had never tried before, like the bbq ribs and the little tacos. I really liked everything we ate, but my favorite part was the sake lesson she gave us! I’m used to only drinking hot sake and she convinced me to order the cold one. She went on to explain to us that when people heat up the sake it’s mainly because it’s not good quality. The cold sake we ordered was delicious and I’ll probably never have hot sake again! I felt like the bartender really cared and went out of her way to serve us!
I love their decoration and I’ve never had a bad experience there.

I unfortunately was not that impressed with kapow. I’ve had really awesome ramen before and this did not compare. I’m giving 3 stars simply because of the cool atmosphere.
We ordered edamame, chicken skin chips, and steamed shrimp dumplings as appetizers. The edamame were yummy but very salty. They were seasoned with garlic and maybe a teriyaki sauce? Don’t get me wrong. Really yummy just heavily salted. Chicken skin strips were definitely unique lol. Literally just crunchy chicken skin. The shrimp dumplings were pretty average. Not what I expect for a «Bocas Best» kind of restaurant or even an Asian style.
I found the food was really just faux Asian and I was so bummed.
We ordered 1 shrimp ramen, 1 shrimp udon and a seared tuna udon. The seared tuna was not seared! It was smoked and not my style. I traded with a friend. I didn’t want to eat it. It looks nothing like the picture and did not taste seared. Tasted smoked and salty.
The shrimp and udon soup was nice. The ramen broth was a brown broth. A bit heavier than the udon broth. To each his own. Wasn’t my cup of tea.
We ordered a whiskey flight and a white wine flight. I enjoyed the concept but I do wish we could choose which drinks we get. I had a nice time. We sat outside and weather was great. We came straight from the beach.
I think for the quality it’s a bit overpriced but I understand you’re ultimately paying for location and environment. I most likely won’t eat there again. Maybe head back for drinks one day.

I suppose this place is OK because it is the only one of its kind in a trendy area. The service was awful. We had three servers walk by our table, and we kept waiving them, and when they would stop by, they would tell us that someone else was going to help us — this happened for about half an hour before, our server «The Man of the Hour» showed up.
The food was nothing to write home about. It was ok, I didn’t get sick, but I will not go back there soon in a hurry. Perhaps, I’ll try them on a weekday, however, weekend business is not an excuse for terrible service and ok food.

I love Kapow!!! I’m not going to lie, but when my girlfriend took me here for the first time I was skeptical just based off the looks… But this is by far the best noodle place I’ve been to! Beats out places in NYC and DC. The noodles are made to perfection and the meats are grilled/​roasted/​cooked right! Not only that their steamed buns are great!
The drinks are on point as well. The bartenders know their stuff. Service is great and pretty quick. They also keep you updated if anything goes wrong in the kitchen.
The bathrooms are always being used… Just an FYI. They have two single person bathrooms. That’s NBD though.
Also, ask for mason! That guy is a great server who’s prompt with everything. He’ll make your experience worth it.

Everyone raves about Kapow, but I’d say its just okay. While the dishes look amazing on paper, the execution was somewhat lacking in my book.
I went for lunch with my girlfriend and a friend of ours. The girls split an order of chicken pad thai. It was decent, but nothing special. I thought it was lacking flavor and had a little too much fish sauce in the mix.
I ordered three dishes that we shared:
Bahn-​mi sliders: These were tasty, but not as spicy as I would have expected. The pork used in the slider wasn’t very flavorful either. I was disappointed. The bread, however, was crispy and delicious.
Duck steamed buns: These were my favorite of the day. The duck was seasoned well with a nice sweet sauce. The steam bun was perfectly pillowey (is that a word?!) and the slaw didn’t overtake the dish. This was a winner.
Pork belly steamed buns: What a disappointment. Pork belly might be one of my favorite things on earth. Put it on a steam bun and I’m in heaven. Unfortunately, the pork belly was undercooked, gamey, and disappointing. This almost made me cry. I was so excited. Oh well. Add to that the flavor-​lacking slaw that came with it and I was just bummed.
I had high hopes for a knockout by Kapow!, but unfortunately it was more like a slap in the face.

SITREP!
*Kapow!* And that’s no joke, because that is exactly what *Kapow!* will do to your taste buds, and every other sense remotely in your head-​region! The cuisine is delicious with enough spice to make your mouth do flamenco dance all it’s own.
THE SETUP
I had just got off my plane from California at 1AM, blitzed to the hotel, and fell asleep. I was meeting up with my lovely friends Janine A. and Jennifer S. in the late morning shortly before noon, so when our paths finally crossed, this was the FIRST culinary infusion I had since I stepped off into the Ft. Lauderdale hoods.
They wanted to take me to Mizer Park where there are a number of great restaurants, coffee shops [we hit The Seed beforehand since Janine said it was a «Must See (d)”], and beautiful manicured buildings and greenways.
Set amid this lovely environment, *Kapow!* is one of a few restaurants that graces this neighborhood.
THE MENU
The selections are pretty amazing and extremely diverse.
* Jennifer grabbed a Pork Banh Mi, which was humongous! (And served with deep-​fried wedges that tasted like sweet potato, but I think I was told was not, hmmmm)
* Janine grabbed some special fried Chicken Skins and Parmesan crackers (actually made from grilled Parmesan!)
* I settled on the *Kapow’s Signature Pad Thai!* Anytime I hit an Asian /​Fusion stop that serves Pad Thai I have to get it because then it serves as a litmus test on how I see the rest of the establishment.
At $ 37, including some soda & waters, we got ourselves a very good deal for the three (3) of us.
SERVER NICK!
Nick was the man and he took care of our needs very nicely! We got he menus promptly. When we were ready, we ordered with him promptly. We got our dishes promptly. AND we got our check promptly! No one could fault Nick nor the good folks of *Kapow!* for any delays in our afternoon agenda of activities!
NEXT TIME!
*TACOS! *Kapow!* actually won the Unilocalie for «Best Taco» in the Unilocal BPB (Broward-​Palm-​Beach) jurisdiction.
Now THAT is saying something knowing how my friends here in BPB LOVE to chow down on theirs (and everyone else’s) tacos!
* FUN ODDITIES!
I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw this little bevy of smartly dressed bottles on the upper bar area:
«Chicken Cock!» I mean, if you saw THAT, wouldn’t you be a bit intrigued yerself? We were told that it was a whiskey sorta along the lines of Fireball or Red Stag (Jamesons). I just know that should I ever find myself in *Kapow!* for a happy hour, I have GOT to try that!

THE LOWDOWN
*Kapow!* is a fun kitschy stop for food & libations in the stylish hood of Boca Raton!

Went with Kapow for a Sunday brunch on the girlfriends birthday. Sat at the bar since it was the only thing available inside. Super hot out.
We started of with some bottomless mimosas, great deal, $ 15 compared to $ 8 for a single. Our bartender Abram was great! Didn’t let a single mimosa get less than half full. We also ordered the bacon, egg, and smoked Gouda spring rolls. Tremendous!
For the main I went with the Benedict Arnold. Toasted challah bread with pulled pork, poached egg, and house made hollandaise sauce. The girlfriend decided on the skirt steak & eggs hash. Soy marinated skirt steak, fried potatoes, peppers and onion with two fried eggs. Phenomenal!
EVERYTHING was fantastic. One of our new favorite brunch spots.

I made the commute up to Kapow for Patty’s Brunch UYE and was glad I did! Besides socializing with fellow Unilocalers, we had the pleasure of running into a couple of old school Unilocal vets, snacking and boozing on delicious Asian fusion food. For starters, unlike a lot of Miami restaurants, their unlimited mimosa actually had bubbly. Even I got a little bit of a kick from it!
Our waitresses Mary and Anna were awesome in allowing our crowd to pay on separate checks, posing for pictures and having a great sense of humor.
The pulled pork on my Eggs Benedict was tender, and the flavors played nicely with the hollandaise sauce. Everything was really flavorful, and the challah bread was a nice change from the usual english muffin. Next up was my other brunch staple — which I ended up sharing with Mr. Healthy Eating Michael C. — of Captain Crunch crusted French Toast infused with Captain Morgan brunch. Very sweet and perfect!

What can I say? A Sunday Funday brunch pretty much sums it up. This past weekend’s UYE was filled with awesome Unilocalers and a fabulous time had by all. The restaurant were able to accommodate our group to sit together. We had to sit outside due to the number of people, but all of us braved the heat while sipping on bottomless mimosas, taking advantage of the Bloody Mary bar, and eating some delicious food.
The brunch menu has a few different options to choose from and I went for the Benedict Arnold. It was two toasted challahs topped with pulled pork, poached eggs, and house made hollandaise sauce. It was ridiculously scrumptious. If I didn’t have the mimosas flowing through me, I probably would have got the same dish to go. I took a bite of the Captain Crunch french toast and it was good too. The Kapow Smash looked amazing as well and it was raved by several people that had it for their meal.
The waitresses did an outstanding job with taking care of us. They didn’t give us any issues with everyone being on their own tabs and the tables were kept clean after we were finished with our food. The glasses were always full and we were welcome to stay around the bar area or go inside after we were done. Thanks to everyone again that came out to make this UYE so much fun :)

Decided to try a new Asian Fusion place and Unilocaled this little AWESOME place. Nestled in Mizner, a total must go!
I LOVED EVERYTHING WE ORDERED!

I had the steamed bun pulled pork — wow.
The street tacos — double wow!
The roasted cauliflower and brussels sprout — cooked to perfection.
The garlic brown rice — haaaaaapy girl!
I’ll definitely return.

What can can I say that every Unilocaler within 50 miles has said already.
Food? Yes, some of the best Asian fusion you will EVER try. How good? They won the huge Unilocal contest for best taco. And I’m pretty sure their taco isn’t even their best course!
Staff? I have been here plenty and they really do go above and beyond. Last month I was having trouble getting around as I was in a sling and the bartender would personally bring my apps and drinks out to me (it was St. Patrick’s day, big deal)
Ambiance? With all the previous said, ambiance and atmosphere is still probably the main reason many people come here. It fun, festive and tough to match. Everyone seems to be having a roaring good time and the Kung Fu and Asian FX movies they play on the TV’s all day provide crazy visuals.
Come down thirty for a happy hour hook up. And come hungry because from the dumplings to the bibimbap you can go wrong with this fair!
