Burt Aaronson South County Regional Park

We like coming here. For starters, it’s absolutely HUGE! It’s also quiet and close by. They have several soccer fields, tennis courts, volleyball court, trails for biking, skating, and walking/​running. You have picnic tables to eat at, or bring a blanket and spread out on the ground! There is a bird here with a deformed leg (it was probably broken and never healed properly) that greets us when we have our picnics here. It’s always the same friendly little bird. We love it.
There is a nice size playground. They have an amphitheater and a water park. Obviously, the water park is not operational at the moment. Probably as the summer gets closer, they will open. Although, it’s warm enough for them to open now.
It’s always clean. For the size of the park, I’m impressed that it stays so clean. The bathrooms are always decent. I don’t feel like some creature is going to grab me as I head into the ladies room. You know exactly what I’m talking about.
The Daggerwing Nature Center is located in the park. There are lots of butterflies outside, with a boardwalk for guests. They have fun stuff inside for all ages, but if you want to go inside, check out their hours before going. We’ve been here so many times and they were closed. However, the park is open from sunrise to sunset.
There really are a ton of things you can do here. I’m sure I’m leaving something out, but it’s amazing because you can get outside and enjoy nature, but also have some fun or simply relax. I’ve laid under the trees, staring at the sky before. Let me tell you, that is definitely relaxing. If you feel like getting some fresh air, this is definitely a great spot. Check it out if you’re ever in the area!
