NOTE: Employees and management suffer from ALCS syndrome. See next to last paragraph. This is not a review of their numerous offerings of overpriced luggage. It is based on two encounters, each for the same item. My initial experience with this store was calling them on the telephone. I googled for their number, 561−447−4315 — and phoned at 11:55AM. The call went into voice mail. I did not leave a message. I called again, about an hour later, and the call again went into voice mail. I again did not leave a message. «Why not?», all my Unilocal buddies may be asking, and the answer makes sense to me: The voice mail picked up, but there was no identifying information of what business I had reached. No recording such as «You have reached Bag ‘n Baggage, we are helping others right now, please leave your name and number and we will…» So, it’s my protocol not to leave my name and number randomly on answering units if I am not certain what number/person I have reached. I then checked Unilocal for their listing, wondering if I had, perhaps, reached an incorrect number. Nope, the number was as listed. I was planning on going to the Town Center Mall later in the day, and figured I would just stop by the store and see what’s up. I arrived around 5PM, and the store was empty, with two sales staff working at what appeared to be inventory management. Neither greeted us. I proactively inquired about the specific item I wanted — a DIGITALLUGGAGESCALE — and one of the staff showed me the various choices — if I recall, only two options. She explained which one she thought was better, and it was the one that I had in mind [its quite ultra über] when I was considering my purchase, so I bought one of the two they had in stock. I then asked if their phone system was working, and showed her my iPhone, with the outgoing calls to her number earlier in the day, making sure I had dialed the correct number. She replied«oh yes, the phone is working, we were busy with inventory at that time, did you leave a message?», and I explained why I had not left one. She looked at me in an odd manner, so odd, that I snapped at her, and said«look, if I call what I believe to be a business and the business does not identify itself in its outgoing message, I will NOT leave a message». She still looked at me in an odd manner. BTW, this was Janeen T., the MANAGER. I finalized my purchase, and suggested to her that she consider adding an outgoing message to her phone system. And she said«I’ll look into that.» After I showed my friend Marsha my new cool digital electronic luggage scale, and asked her if she had a device to weigh her luggage, she said«no, can I use yours?», and I replied«no, the logistics on that would not work, I’ll go buy you your own». I called the store on May 16, to ask them to put aside the one remaining device they had in stock, and no one answered the phone. And there was still no outgoing message. This time, I LEFT A MESSAGE, ASKINGTHATTHEYHOLDASIDETHELUGGAGESCALE. I went to the store later that day, and was served by Jack. I asked him if he was there earlier, telling him what time I called, that the phone was not answered, and that I left a message. He said«oh, I must have been busy, and I haven’t had time to check the phone for messages.» [This store never looks real busy] Welcome to South Florida, where the poor level of customer service is pandemic. This establishment’s staff and management suffer from ALCSS — Acute Lack of Common Sense Syndrome. It is a dangerous condition, be careful you do not catch this syndrome. As an aside, this ultra über scale is a BALANZZAMINIDIGITALLUGGAESCALE, priced at $ 21.99. You can purchase it on for $ 15.32, and if you are a Prime Member, it ships free in 2 days. And Amazon’s Customer service is awesome!

Funny — I had just the opposite experience. The three staff working there were friendly and attentive. One named ‘Joyce’ was particularly helpful. The product is well displayed and grouped so I was able to make the purchase I wanted with ease.

Plenty of nice overpriced pieces of luggage to choose from. Went there after the beach with shorts and a t-shirt with my Tatts-a-blazin and u would have thought I had lepracy the way the 3 sales reps avoided me. After standing there obviously needeing help, I walked out… Couldnt help show the 3 reps the black card as I walked out making sure they never judge a book by it’s cover. Or tatts.
