Montage Palmetto Bluff

Love this place. It is a slice of heaven! Had my wedding there and will go back as soon as we can. It is a perfect getaway and you will love it. Perfect for couples, families and there is so much to do.

Palmetto Bluff is a beautiful 20,000 acre property surrounded by waterways and wilderness. There are many amenities including golf, tennis, horseback riding, pools, spa, restaurants, kayaking, boat rides, fishing, sport shooting and much more.
Palmetto Bluff also offers many different varieties of real estate. Situated right in the May River in Bluffton, SC, it’s a beautiful place to live, work, or visit!

Palmetto Bluff renowned Spa is not worth your money. I recently booked an appointment for a mani/​pedi service, but was not wowed by the whole thing. The location is peaceful and beautiful, but I get a better service at the local Nail Salon in Bluffton for 30. Do not waste your money thinking the service is extraordinary «It’s Not». Will not be going back for that specific service «EVER»!!!

The most amazing hidden getaway.
I went here years ago and had one of the best, most relaxing, vacations of my life. I just thought to write a review because I’m planning a trip to come back this year. We rented a villa and it’s like having a little home. I went on gorgeous bike rides, saw Dolphins in the lake, and relaxed at the salt water pool with a delicous piña colada. If you have a family this place is very kid-​friendly but it is also the most romantic retreat for couples.

Beautiful setting for a relaxing getaway! The drive in takes you down a lovely road with big trees with Spanish moss hanging gracefully.
The service is the best I have ever seen. People knew our names moments after we arrived and would greet us by name when they would unexpectedly see us around the property. The concierge went way out of her way to ensure that we had local oysters to eat for dinner (that were amazingly delicious).
I recommend taking the canoe trip out to see the fields of oysters up close.
You can also take a free convertible Mercedes around the town.
Don’t forget to make s’mores by the fire pits which are available nightly!

Our family of 6 just had a great one week stay in 3 cottages. They did a great job of creating an old classic cottage feel in the units while still being luxurious. Highlights of the units themselves are the gas fireplaces, comfy beds, and spacious bathrooms with steam showers. Our package included room service breakfasts of our choice from the menu, which were very good. The property is very dog-​friendly too, one of the big reasons we chose it as we were bringing a canine member of the family.
Service all around was top notch.
Though it is definitely a low-​key vacation, we were never bored — from bike rides to croquet to boating to horseback riding to s’mores, it was great for a family get together.
We ate at River House and Canoe Club (special New Years Eve menu) and both were excellent. We did one night at Buffaloes when they were having a buffet dinner and it was decent Italian food.
We had our own car, but even if you don’t, they can loan you one for day trips to Savannah, Hilton Head, or just into Bluffton. Cottages all come with golf carts for getting around the property, in addition to bicycles.
Only bad things I can say really are that there were a couple huge spiders that came out nightly in a corner of one of our cottages towards the ceiling as well as a dead roach found once, and that housekeeping was a bit quick to use their key to open the door after knocking (when we didn’t have the do not disturb sign up).

My husband is a hotel snob so I’ve gotten to stay in some pretty amazing places and this is by far, the nicest room we’ve ever had. Everyone gets their own little cabin that is not car accessible, but no fear because you are given bicycles and/​or a golf cart if you don’t want to walk along the beautiful path. The service was also amazing. Southern charm meets 5 star hotel is a GREAT combination. The hotel is set along the May River and we’d highly recommend the sunset river cruise with Tre. Like any luxury hotel, they have all the amenities: spa (about average), two heated pools (amazing view), and a gym (small, but more than enough). It is situated in acres of land that also include residential homes, a few restaurants, and a tennis and golf club. We preferred the atmosphere of the Canoe Club but the food in both was standard fine dining. I wish there was something more memorable about the food, but it was good. You could easily sit all day on your waterfront patio or in one of the many outdoor lounge areas… or you could fill your day with tons of activities. We’ll definitely be back!

Amazing in every way and everything you would expect from a 5 star resort. The natural beauty is almost unreal. I’m bring my friends back to share the experience as you simply can’t explain it.
Cottages are pure luxury

The staff are terrific. Very friendly and eager to help. But communication wasn’t working smoothly. For example, you’re encouraged to use the iPad in the room to make appointment requests, but you then receive phone calls and voicemails to confirm or reject your requests.
The facility is in the process of changing hands (apparently a huge new hotel is being built on the property) so maybe some of these aches and pains are a result?
Our shower didn’t work properly — we couldn’t get the water any cooler than scalding. The jacuzzi by the pool was broken for the duration of our 3-​night visit. (A pool maintenance person mentioned it was broken the previous day and it was supposed to be fixed, but it wasn’t.) And the TV wouldn’t turn on.
All the restaurants were a bit scattered — service was uneven and the quality of the food was not what you would expect at this level hotel.
A good stay but we are not likely to come back.

A five star review has never been this easy to give. It was earned as soon as I arrived feeling transported back to colonial times, albeit very upscale and modern colonial times. The architecture of every home, cottage, restaurant and shop gives the feel of a quaint town in the 1800s. Inside all of these structures is every amenity and top notch service you would expect from a five diamond resort.
The staff bends over backward to make sure your needs are met and exceeded.
For accommodations that have cottages as well as homes large enough to handle any size group or family. The cottages are one bedroom but every cottage runs about 1100 sq ft! Huge beautiful rooms, screened back porch, gorgeous bathroom with steam shower, and every cottage comes with two bikes! Everyone rides bikes (each cottage comes with 2) all over the resort.
They have a nice restaurant called Buffalo’s for great breakfast and lunch. The restaurant at the Inn cranks out unbelievably good lunches and dinners. The soups and desserts were especially memorable. Dining options are The Inn, Buffalo’s and also The Canoe Club, all offer first class service and top notch cooking.
The resort has a really nice market a short bike ride away from the town square featuring any food or toiletries you could need but this is not your average hotel store as they also have a great selection of wine, beer, gourmet cheeses and charcuterie. Across from the market is an awesome multistory tree house for kids featuring slides, a hammock and a zip line!
The spa is also not to be missed as the massage I received ranks as the very best I have ever received and was the shared consensus of about 10 of us. This is the nicest resort I have ever had the pleasure to visit and I would love to come back again!

My husband and I stayed at The Inn at Palmetto Bluff for one night this summer and were so happy we did. It is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. From start to finish the service is amazing. Our check in was the only slight glitch in an otherwise perfect vacation. You can only check in between 2−4p and since we were only staying one night we requested check in immediately at 2p. We ended up being the second to last cottage to be ready so we didn’t get in until 4p. That said, we were able to enjoy the pool in the meantime and sit out on the back deck of the main building and sip ice tea as a storm rolled in.
The cottages are the best part in my opinion. So adorable yet spacious. The back deck is perfect for reading and enjoying a glass of wine. The bed is big and comfortable and the bathroom… oh the bathroom. Between the steam shower, claw foot tub, and beautiful vanity — I never wanted to leave!
When you do want to get around you have bicycles to ride around on or you can rent a golf cart. I loved seeing the families riding out the property on their bikes and admiring all the wildlife. My husband and I biked as much as we could to take everything in.
We ate at one of the restaurants… I think it was the Canoe Club. Service was on point and the food was delicious. We decided that night that we are going to make The Inn our anniversary destination spot every year!
Our only regret was that we could only stay one night. We still most certainly be back and will be staying longer next time!

Just got back from this place, let me tell you If I die I want heaven to be there, best place ever!

I can think of no better way to chalk up my 600^th review than to recall our five days of pampered bliss at the Inn at Palmetto Bluff. They were seriously on top of everything in a prompt and helpful way that outdoes even the Ritz or FS. Which, if you’ve had that Hendrix experience, is no small task.
A quick check in at the gate and a winding drive to the banks of the May River and we pulled up to the warm, by name greetings at the Inn. Check in and confirmation of our dinner and spa packages and we were on our way. We were shuttled to our cottage, which sat on the edge of the resort’s lagoon right across from the rookery.
The cottage was quaint, romantic, fully stocked and loaded with just about any touch you could think of. Wine and fruit waiting on us, nice! Full fridge, wet bar and Keurig coffee machine. King bed with Frette linens that I could, and pretty much did, sleep forever in. Modern AV touches like flatscreen, surround speakers all through the unit including speakers in the bathrooms. The bath had Frette robes, plush towels, a double sink, vanity, huge soaker tub and a three headed steam shower. We had a big dressing room with ample space for all our luggage. Our huge screened in patio faced the lagoon and I often spent some early hours just relaxing out there with a cup of Joe watching just about every kind of wading bird there is fly around. Each cottage has a pair of bikes for you use during your stay. Or you could be lazy and get a cart. No cars allowed on the resort grounds.
By no means did we simply hang out in our room, although we easily could have. There always seemed to be some kind of activity going on around the resort and we took advantage of most of what they offered. We chartered a boat one morning and went out bass fishing, where my wife caught her first fish. We had so much fun and caught three that morning. Trolleys took us to the Moreland where a lowcountry boil was served up with a nice buffet for Independence Day. There was an evening booze cruise that we did on the May aboard the Grace, where dolphins jumped in front of the bow. We also rode the bikes all over the place and took in the relaxing lowcountry scenery.
The spa was amazing. The treatments were part of our package and the exfoliation scrub was the best part. The masseuses were some of the best we’ve had.
Palmetto Bluff has a partnership with Mercedes and you can take out any of their four cars for the day. Yes, take them out all by yourself. Take that W Acura experience. Since someone had selfishly reserved the convertible, which stayed parked up front the entire time, we ended up with the E550 sedan. It was a beautiful car and fun to drive on our daytrip to nearby Bluffton. Could there be a Mamba 2.0 in our future?
Our package also included three course dinners at the River House Restaurant. Service was impeccable and the food was outstanding. Beets salad, crab salad, scallops, grouper, rib eye and vegetable gumbo were some of the things we had. Dessert were great too. And if that wasn’t enough, you could always do smores at any of the three fire pits that were set up nightly.
Probably the part of our stay that I’ll remember the most was the scenery and wildlife. An armadillo seemed to be cruising around outside our cottage and we saw him a few times. Yes, they have those in SC. We spotted gators and dolphins in the waters about the resort. Without question the best part was taking my coffee out on the pier and watching the sunrise over the water. Wildlife was just everywhere. It was low tide and the buffet was open. I watched a heron, gator, rays, crabs, dolphins, a shark, and a family of raccoons go through the oyster beds and low waters eating what they could. It was so cool! The momma raccoon even let out an alarm Unilocal.Too cute.
Thank you Palmetto Bluff. A perfectly relaxing and romantic getaway. We can’t wait to return!

We just spent five nights at the Inn. It is a fabulous, special place. Beautiful, peaceful setting. Impeccable cottages. You are given bikes with your cottage, the whole area is very bikable. The restaurants are good. Great golf. No reason to leave the resort, though we did for Savannah and Hilton Head a couple times. We will definitely be back.

Wow! Everything is amazing at this place. Service is top notch, food is superb, and accommodations are the best you can find. With this comes a price. This is a very expensive resort. The best savings come with renting a house with some friends or for your family instead of the cottages. That being said, I have stayed in both. The cottages are a romantic getaway with anything at your fingertips. You can order room service off the menu at the main dining room without the crazy fees so you really never have to leave your room.
If you do choose to leave your room they have a free boat shuttle to Hilton head which was nice to explore. They also have kayaking, fishing, and biking on property for free. I advise the wine cruise if you enjoy boats and the water. Tons of dolphins. I also recommend the kayak cruise on the may river for those that like to exercise. One more recommendation is the moreland plantation low country boil. Yum! Oyster shucking and all!
