Great hidden gem on Old Western Ave in Blue Island. The place is small but very quaint. Besides some great pasta specials(always excellent) Giuseppe’s serves up the best spinach and mushroom deep dish pizza on the entire Southwest Side. Blows away Pizzeria Deepo, Giordano’s and Louisa’s. They also have a nice selection of wine, but even better, they serve several of their house wine in ½ and full carafe’s.

They have the best pizza. I have ordered from here several times and they are always consistent. The prices are reasonable especially for the quality of the pizza.

Major props to this place for letting us in 25 minutes before closing time, and serving us quickly and cheerfully without making us feel rushed. Props as well for the pull-apart-cheese-garlic bread, a delicious and satisfying appetizer that might be the best thing on the menu. Other items were mediocre — pasty broccoli soup, ordinary pasta and red sauce, pizza that had trouble fully coming together. Some other members of our table ordered a chicken parm sandwich and I wonder if that was the better route.(Also decent-looking french fries, but I didn’t partake.) There aren’t many options in this little part of Blue Island, but there are three other places down the street I’d try instead the next time I’m in town.

My Chicago style pizza was disappointing. It was a runny mess. I don’t think it was cooked long enough or something! It was hard to finish just one slice. The lasagna was good but definitely overpriced for the portion size. Although the menu has so many options to choose from. I may consider going back a 2nd time to give it one last chance. The staff was very friendly so that’s a plus.

This is some of the best old school Italian on the Southside. The owner comes to your table and actually talks to you and makes sure all you food tastes good. The atmosphere is casual and laid back which is great. The pasta and pizza is great, especially the Shrimp pasta New Orleans. Overall great place. I wish more people new about this little hideout on Olde Western.

Ordered my hangover food for the day and I think it will keep me fed for a few days. I ordered the margarita pizza and the thin crust was very tasty! I also ordered this Cajun style pasta with shrimp and it was pretty awesome too! A 5 on both the pizza and pasta. Ordered their tiramisu for desert and they gave me two which was nice. The flavor didn’t really do it for me so I’d give it a 3 or so but the gesture is what counted. I have since ordered to this review. Had the same thing but only received one tiramisu lol. This last time though the delivery person didn’t have change when I let the person o was speaking over the phone with. He didn’t seem happy that he had to go back. I mean, I wouldn’t be either but this wasn’t my fault. He also forgot my tiramisu so he would have had to go back anyways. As long as I’m in Blue Island I’m sure that I’ll continue to order from here and try new things out. If you’re in the area, the quality of food is a 4.5÷5. Perhaps the driver could be a little friendlier but that can always be improved, one way or another.

I decided to finally check this place out after walking by it several times over the past year or two. I brought my parents on a Friday evening. It’s a cute little family place — friendly staff, and they seemed to know everyone that came in while we were there. They had quite a few specials for both appetizers and entrees. I ordered one of the pasta specials and my parents split a pizza. We were both pleased with our meals along with the bread and giardineria that came on the table. I look forward to coming back and trying some more of their menu items!

I went here yesterday with my parents after antiquing in Blue Island. We were hungry, and thanks to Unilocal,I found this place. I’ll start with the service: our waitress was very nice and kept water full; when we had menu questions, she went back and asked the kitchen. Also the owner or manager checked in a couple times and told us a little about Naples, where his family originates from. Onto the food: we shared a port mushroom stuffed with tomatoes, garlic, mozz and a little olive oil. We weren’t expecting much, but it was AWESOME! My mom had chicken parm sandwich, dad had eggplant parm sandwich and I had pasta w olive oil, garlic and broccoli. We are the type of family that passes bites around and all agreed everything was perfect. Homemade sauce, quality ingredients and perfect seasoning hit the spot! Thanks!

I order from Giuseppe’s quite frequently, especially for my poker nights when my buddies are looking for a good pizza. I just live down the street from them so its convenient to go pick-up if I need to. The pizza has always been good. They got my order wrong once which is the only reason I’m leaving a 4 star. When I called back she asked if I wanted to bring it back so they could replace it with the right pizza. We were too hungry to deal with that and having to wait longer. The pizza is always cooked to perfection. You guys should be getting a call from me this weekend :-)

Much more than just pizza, this Old Western neighborhood place is a well established restaurant, and an anchor on the block. Always pleased with the experience of dining here in this relaxed, friendly place. It has a Mom & Pop feel with an adept kitchen serving up excellent dishes, on par with pricier, more distant alternatives in the city. This is my go-to spot for Italian on the south side.

A recent family dinner at Guiseppe’s ended in big smiles and even bigger bellies. My first ever dine-in experience at this local Italian restaurant was a good one, no question. Smaller than its former location, this new(er) restaurant seems to pack them in without much effort. An old-school vibe resonates throughout, as observed in the décor and background music. We came at the right time luckily, and were able to get a table for six without a problem. Any more and things would’ve been slightly more complicated. Definitely call ahead to reserve a table if that’s the case. Staff was friendly and attentive throughout; always a plus. Complimentary bread and foccaccia were an excellent lead-in to our service; fresh and to the table in no time. The menu provided a wide variety of Italian appetizer and entrée classics: salads, pastas, meat, fish, poultry, and other main course dishes, including their huge lasagna. Started with the grilled and fried calamari. A bit chewy, and in need of a slight recipe tweak. Somewhat remedied by the accompanied marinara and parmesan. Where the apps may have faltered, the entrees were sure to big our dinner up. Everyone raved about their food. Portion size was a big selling point and the talk of the table. Granted, an average entrée will run somewhere between $ 15 – 20, but you get your monies worth. Size and taste more than make up for what will soon be a less healthy wallet, and jam-packed gut. My order of lasagna was easily a pound, if not 1.5, of cheesy Italian goodness. One of the best lasagna’s I’ve ever had, without a doubt. Everything you could’ve asked for… layers upon layers of meat, cheese, sauce, and perfectly prepared lasagna noodle. Definitely a dish worth repeating, only after a solid week of passing through, your now sold out lower intestines. Every dish at our table went off without a hitch, garnering rave reviews. Call ahead if dining with a crowd, and bring your Mastercard, but without question you’ll be hooked after checking out Guiseppe’s and letting go of that top button of your respective trousers.

Small, quaint. Good food, good portions, reasonable prices. They have home made giardinara that’s great. All the dishes we have tried are wonderful and served with a reasonable wait. Their pizza is ok, but not the reason to visit.

What a dinner! We came in without a reservation all 5 of us, my wife daughter and 2 grand daughters, and the place was packed. They were so accommodating in getting us seated, we first sat at a both and then the owner came by and said lets move you to a larger table. That is what I call a personal touch! And I haven’t even told you about the food… What a dinner the appetizers where out of this world we had baked clams and focaccia. Plus the hot Italian bread and oil. The dinner portions where so ample and even the Kids portions where over the top. I am torn on writing this because I would like to keep this place a secret but please go and give it a try, YOUWILLNOTBEDISAPPOINTED…

Usually you start one of these things from the time you walk in to the time you leave, I can’t do that this time. We had six of us and as I was leaving I went to shake the owners hand(Frankie) Goodbye and he gave me a hug. I’ve been in this joint twice and the last time was 4 months ago and he remembered us and the wine he gave me the first time I was there. The other thing about this place, It ain’t a café, It ain’t a bistro, It isn’t even a restaurant, plain and simple when you walk in the door your walking into this family’s home. An the only thing you need to get in is an appetite. However you will need a flipp’en wheel barrel to get out. Cause every time you try to leave«He pulls you back in « When you walk in, Your eyes will automatically look for Michal Corleone getting ready to whack that Irish cop. An from one Italian sticking up for another Italian I’m going to tell ya one thing. Take all your foodie knowledge an wanna be food critic«expertise» and blow out your ass… If that’s to harsh for ya «Hand flipped under the chin» to ya! Plain and simple you want to know what’s on the menu. Love, Love and garlic, Love and Pasta, Love and traditional home made Italian food.
If I have been to one Italian place I have been to 10,000 and every single one of them has red Pasta Fagioli, not this place. When my spoon reach my nose I thought of my dad making this depression dish when I was a kid, When I swallowed my first bite I swear I saw him sitting across from me.(by the way Frankie’s sister comes in on the weekends to make this soup) We ordered Baked Clams for an App, My soup, clams in a white sauce, the wife had Shrimp Alfredo, I had 4 glasses of wine(one which was bought by the owner) I ordered 2 soups to go home, We ate about 5 servings of there homemade Giardinara and had desert. The bill was about 60 bucks… Who cares I felt bad cause I thought we stole something. I love this place for what it stands for, They have a small staff that puts there heart into what they do, Dinner here is an event, Wine, food, an La Familia. So grab your Feodora pop in a copy of Goodfellas and go grab a bite to eat Cause when it comes to going anywhere else for good Italian food Fuggetabout

Went here with a group of people. I got the fettuccine alfredo. It was very rich and creamy and the portion was large. My friends ordered the cheese ravioli, and chicken parmesan, and both of those portions were very large. Their fried mushrooms were awesome, and the bread basket that they bring to the table was filled with yummy freshly baked bread. The only reason I took one star away is because of how long it took for us to get our food. I had my friend order for me when I was about 15 minutes away(because they were closing early for a big party and wanted to get the order in), when I got there it was still another 10 – 15 minutes before we got our food. I’m not sure if this was because they were prepping for the large party, but no one ordered anything extravagant(and we were one of two tables sitting in the restaurant) so pasta shouldn’t have taken that long. The food was excellent though, very rich and not good for anyone on a diet :)
