History

Established in 1983.

Ranger started Aztek Ink by tattooing a half sleeve on himself by the age of thirteen. after years of learning from other artist and independently, he opened Aztek Ink in order to provide the community with great fine artwork on skin in a comfortable environment.

After his passing in 2014, the shop has been ran by Rangers brother carlos, a graduate of the american academy of art in chicago.

carlos has been around tattooing for his whole life, starting to tattoo at shops from the age of 17. he is responsible for all the imagery the shop uses from our websites to business cards to vehicle design.

Best tattoo shop I’ve been to. Boots is amazing at everything he does; from customer service to his art. True artists. I will 100% be back. Boots was extremely professional and clean with his work. The shop is beautiful throughout and is always clean when I walk in. You can tell these guys take pride in their work. Boots is an extremely hard worker and very passionate. I can’t say enough about this place.

I couldn’t ask for a better tattoo parlor. Not only are they the nicest people there, but they do amazing work.
A while back I went in for a portrait. Carlos took care of me, and the work he did could not have come out any better. The picture he tattooed on my arm looks exactly like the person I’m honoring. He took his time designing it so it would look good, and he made sure it was something I would be happy with. He came up with his own ideas because I wasn’t 100% sure about what I wanted to add to it. I almost cried when I saw the finished product. Absolutely amazing work.
Went back for another tribute piece, this one wasn’t a portrait. This time Ian did my work. And like Carlos, he made sure it was a design I was happy with, and helped me come up with different ideas. I couldn’t be happier with the work he did.
The shop is clean, and they are very reasonably priced. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to get any tattoos done. To the people of Aztek ink, I can’t thank you enough for what you’ve done for me!

I had been contemplating a tattoo for five years but wanted to make sure that I could find an artist that was outstanding at their craft and comfortable working with people of color– sad but so many tattoo artist are not very versatile or comfortable with dark skin. So after much research, reading Urban Ink magazine, and just scrolling the internet, I found Aztek Ink. I received my tattoo in November 2013 and two months later, I love it more and more each day. The location is great, wonderful staff and clean environment. Carlos (my artist) is really gifted and took my simple concept and added some wonderful touches and recommendations to make the piece come alive. I am definitely hooked on more wonderful art pieces and know I will be getting all my work done at Aztek. If you are looking for skilled professionals that are comfortable working with a dark canvas, this is your spot. Thanks, Carlos.
