Chetola Resort At Blowing Rock

My daughter bought a spa day for my in January. I just used it this weekend and had a wonderful experience. The massage therapist, Tammy was amazing. The atmosphere was so relaxing and upscale that I didn’t want to leave. I highly recommend this spa!!!

Stayed in the condos. No firewood for fireplace– costs extra…$ 8 for a small bundle (4pieces). Jacuzzi doesn’t work. No heat bulbs in bathroom– just regular lightbulbs. Stairs not shoveled. Blinds missing slats-​sorry neighbors!
I ended up editing this review because we got a call from the front desk manager and they took ta night off our stay. So they did try to make things right

Stayed at Balsam 2 condo. Better than 4 stars but not quite 5. Two bedroom (king in master and queen bed in guest) with sleeper sofa in den. Two person hot tub by master bedroom. Full kitchen with oven, stove, microwave, toaster, coffeepot, tea kettle, mixer, dishwasher, refrigerator, pots, pans, dishes, utensils. Can save on eating out by cooking here. TV, VCR, DVDs in both bedrooms and den. Two recliners in den with view toward lake and moses cone park. Wood burning fireplace. Walk in closet in master bedroom. Iron and ironing board in hall closet. Washer and dryer in small nook off bathroom.
Overall comfortable condo, set back from other buildings so a bit more privacy than most. Porch facing woods and lake is nice. While wi-​fi is fine, electronics are dated, CRT televisions. No HDMI inputs for gaming systems. Concierge at resort was apparently on vacation as no answer or returned calls in 2 days. Bathrooms (2) have soap but no shampoo or conditioner. Hot tub nice but filling it appears to overtax hot water heater as we ran out of hot water one evening with 4 people on condo.
Resort has heated indoor pool, sauna, fitness center, spa, stocked lake (fishing equipment is available for rent), tennis courts, and hiking trails. Staff, when not on vacation themselves, were friendly and professional.

We had the most amazing visit to Chetola Resort. From the minute we entered the lobby on Sunday until we left after breakfast this morning, we’ve had a trip to remember. The inn was beautiful with it’s classically decorated library to our charming room overlooking the lake. The special treats in the pantry, the cozy wine and cheese hour with innkeeper Maren, and the lovely dining room enhanced our visit.
We love the outdoors, so the resort was a perfect choice! I hiked to both downtown Blowing Rock where I picked up the Glen Burning Trail and to the Moses Cone Mansion via Bass Lake without getting in a car. Having the Blue Ridge Parkway close by was also a wonderful convenience.
My boyfriend fished two days and had a spectacular time. Not only did he catch many large trout, but he was able to enjoy and learn from his guide Dustin.
If people are looking for a location with a relaxing environment and first class amenities, choose Chetola Resort!

My husband and I stayed at the Chetola Resort for our honeymoon and absolutely LOVED IT! We stayed in room #1 at Bob Timberlake Inn, and we were treated so kindly. Our room had a private balcony and huge garden tub – perfect for a romantic getaway. Breakfast was delicious every morning, and the inn keeper was so wonderful. We will definitely be returning!

If you are looking for a vacation spot, look no further. This place is amazing. We just came back from a week there (our first time) and we were so sad to leave! We went there blindly… not knowing anything about the hotel or the area, and we were so pleasantly surprised! Chetola is so beautiful. The grounds, the buildings, the people. There is so much to do at the hotel, let alone in Blowing Rock and nearby Boone. Fishing, paddle boating, swimming on site, and hiking (Rough Ridge, Lanville Falls), Tweetsie, Docs Rocks, downtown Blowing Rock, Cone mansion, Bass Lake, Mast General store all so close to the resort. It was such a wonderful time! We are thinking of making this a yearly vacation.

This place is great all year round. In the winter our family loves coming up here to ski at Appalachian ski mountain. In the the summer its a great place to relax in cooler climates and enjoy their free boats and fishing. The bonfire at night is also a family favorite. The staff are relaxed and happy assisting in slowing you down to enjoy the resort.

This is a great site for your wedding! We got married here 10 years ago. We used the Manor House, now re-​named Timberlake House. It was the original house on the property and is beautiful for small weddings. We had the restaurant cater our reception and it was lovely and delicious. Guest stayed in both the lodge and the condo. over the years we have come back often and stayed and used every amenity offered, Sadly, we have found that the high turn over of staff means that every year we came back we were treated like strangers. You would think they would keep good records of their guests… especially those who marry here… and at least pretend to recall you! But so far not a single person has ever acknowledged we are past customers though we have stayed in their finest accommodations many times. this year we rented a condo and during check in the front desk person said, «Is this your first visit?» Crazy. This may be our last visit. We have found that other places seem to value their guests much more and the small extra touches given to repeat customers makes a difference.

Such a picturesque place! The grounds are truly beautiful and so is the hotel itself. Rooms are large in size and comfortable. Also, very clean!
Our room had a view of the lake so waking up in the morning and enjoying nature first hand was lovely.
We stayed during winter snowfall time and I must say hotel did a great job keeping roads clean from ice and snow.
They also offer nice breakfast in the morning .
Overall, we were very happy with the stay! The only reason why I gave it 4 stars is because the place had very outdated heater/​AC units which are loud and make air extremely dry.

We stayed here in January (winter) and the grounds were quiet yet well-​maintained. Our room was nice (we rented a condo.) But not the best condo I have stayed in. We did have a pretty nice view and the location to downtown Blowing Rock is great. If you want a perfect location, scenic grounds and a good restaurant, this is a nice place to stay!

We spent several days at Chetola and fell in love with the Blowing Rock area. We rented a two bedroom condo (Balsam 1) and enjoyed the peace and comfort of the unit. It has easy access to hiking trails (e.g., to Bass Lake) and to the Chetola amenities (tennis courts, swimming pool, grills, and lake to fish in). The unit has access to internet. We will definitely be back.

This was a place that I never would have gone to had it not been for a marriage retreat that was scheduled here for couples.
We were checked in pretty quick, and the staff were very friendly and helpful in recommending local areas to visit.
The room was big, a bit on the outdated side, but all in all, I had a blast here.

This place is so cute, very large and well maintained. I have stayed here twice, in winter and summer months. Winter time it is so nicely decorated and very cheery! Summer time it is landscaped beautifully.
There is a guard gate at the front which is staffed ²⁴⁄₇ which makes great for a secure property.
The staff is very pleasent. If you go down to the pool area by the shop they usually have a list of events they do for their guests, free of charge, and have recommendations for things to do in the area. They hosted a ghost-​story type hike to a plantation near by. I was hoping to be scared, it wasn’t scary, more family friendly, and a hike through the woods to this plantation, and told some stories how it «may» be haunted. It was a lovely hike, a nice cemetary at the top of the hill by the plantation. Check it out if the weather is nice.
They also have a pond for fishing, I guess it’s stocked with fish because it’s pretty easy to catch fish in there!
Like shopping? the outlet center is about ¹⁄₅ of a walk from the cabins, so a great location, walking distance to downtown blowing rock.

This is a cute place nestled right outside Blowing Rock. The property abuts a national forest and you can get on the hiking trails right from the resort.
We stayed at the Bob timberlake Inn and it was awesome. The staff is very friendly and check in/​out is a breeze. There is a pantry that guests can avail themselves of (Ben & Jerry’s at midnight — you bet!). There is also a wine and cheese gathering for the guests which was fun and friendly. the room was spacious, well apointed and immaculate.
You are a quick bike ride or a slightly longer walk to town and some cool shopping and restaurants. Check this place out if you are planning to come to Blowing Rock area.
