It’s one of my favorite stops at the Mall of America… Yogen Fruz is by far my favorite frozen yogurt! I’ve never really got into the fro-yo craze. but I love this place. You see, they have this simple process that sets it apart from the other frozen yo places… First, you pick a base frozen yogurt(vanilla or chocolate) and then you choose from a range of REAL flavors — like expresso, teas, frozen fruits, etc. If you pick a frozen fruit as flavor, strawberry, for example, your frozen yogurt is mixed with the real fruit and it becomes«naturally» a strawberry flavored frozen yogurt– voila! I’m sure there is a million flavor combinations you can create/ask for — they also have suggestions, and menus ofcourse… oh, and lets not forget the so many variety of toppings, too… I was surprised to see mochi and lychee toppings, too… I thought I was back in Japan. My favorite frozen yogurt here is the Mocha coffee mix(don’t worry, it’s on the menu) since I ADORE coffee. Mmmm coffeeeee… I can taste, see. smell? the expresso ground so fine and infused in the frozen yogurt to perfection… ahh and the tangy oh so perfect frozen yogurt… the frozen yogurt on it’s own is top notch taste and texture… topped with real chocolate shavings…“chocolate curls” they call it. Beautiful. LOVE! I love that it’s so simple, wholesome, basic and yet so delicious. oh, and let’s not forget. it’s low fat(compared to ice cream) and healthy… I heard the yogurt here is PROBIOTIC… you guys, it’s a «frozen» yogurt that’s probiotic… how cool is that?

Frozen yogurt fiend that I am(as well as Groupon addict), I had grand plans to consume much with a deal I had for Yogen Fruz at the Mall of America. And so… I did. I had the acai-blueberry tart yogurt with some strawberries and kiwi. While the price was actually a very good deal for the world of fancy soft-serve yogurt, I can’t say I was thrilled with the yogurt itself. It was about as tart as a piece of wood. Now, that’s not to say it wasn’t a pleasant berry frozen yogurt, but anyone listing it as tart ought to get their taste buds checked. Everything was clean and fresh, the service was prompt, and so business-wise, there isn’t anything to complain about. It’s just the yogurt itself. Unfortunately, good service doesn’t fill my mouth with happy. I may try Yogen Fruz again with their traditional tart flavor as I’ve got yet another deal to burn, but my expectations are very, VERY low.
