I’ve long been a fan of spin classes and when I moved to Bloomington, options for spin classes were limited. I had taken a few cyclefit classes at the student rec center on campus, but the ambiance just wasn’t the same as the Spin class format I was used to. I enjoyed the structure of the Spin class offered at urban cycle studio. The instructor was knowledgeable about anatomy and gave out reminders throughout the class about keeping proper form on the bike. People seeking a low impact cardio session would greatly benefit from at least trying a class or two out. Pluses: 1) Knowledgeable instructors. 2) Centrally located 3) Clean enviornment 4) Towels, water, other amenities provided 5) Easy check-in system 6) Good bikes(not crazy beat up/rusted) 7) Online scheduling system(so you are guaranteed a spot in class) Improvements: 1) Instructor was pretty chatty throughout the class(it is nice to just zone out and not listen to personal anecdotes) 2) Studio space is limited. A class can hold 10 people max.(I guess this is good if you seek more personal attention) Suggestions for people who want to check this place out: 1) Bring a water bottle; you’ll definitely want water during the class 2) You’ll break some serious sweat… so bring an extra change of clothes or go straight home after class 3) First class is free so give it a try. Overall: I like the classes, but being that I’m on a grad student budget I’m not sure I can make this part of my lifestyle(classes are about $ 14/session).
