History

Established in 2014.

THE BeeHive Full Service Salon LLC began ten years ago as a dream for two young women, myself Leslie Arnold Knox and Hannah Shrum. This last year we began preparations to open THE BeeHive Full Service Salon. During the process of developing and building THE BeeHive up we have encountered many wonderful people. We are blessed by the amount of outreach we have received from our family, friends, and clients. We feel that this salon was not only built by family and friends but also by community. This has been a very long time coming, inspired by Andy Warhol’s famous pop art painting of Marilyn Monroe and famous beehives throughout history. Our logo is a collaboration between local Artist Leanna Jayne Arnold and ourselves. We wanted a logo that could be placed in various colors and represent a strong, independent woman, any and every woman.

We studied cosmetology at Harold Beauty Academy from 2005 – 2006. Leslie also studied at Indiana State University graduating in 2007 with her Bachelor’s degree in Theater Design and Tech. She has had the pleasure of working on a multitude of shows. Her stand out year was in 2007 when she was named the American Collegiate Theater festival Alcone makeup and hair design Regional III winner for the ISU production of Polaroid Stories. She went on that same year to compete at Nationals and to train for a week under makeup artist Randy Mercer.

Hannah worked alongside Leslie on several theatrical shows at Indiana State University and has participated in several charitable hair drive events. She is knowledgable in plant growth and grew many of the plants and herbs used in our BeeHive products. The two have worked together at various salons for the past ten years and are very excited for this next chapter in their careers.
