Maybe the best customer service I’ve ever encountered. Just relentless! These folks do it the right way. Highly highly recommended!

This is one of those old fashioned hardware stores that carry just about everything a homeowner might need. As an independent business you might pay a nickel or a dollar more for any particular item but you will have customer service you won’t believe. The current fad of big — box stores like Home Depot and Lowes serve their purpose. .limited selection and low price. .but places like Kleindorfer’s are unbeatable for large selection and a huge variety. I’ll take a Kleindorfer’s everyday. Great service and a great store.

GREAT place to find your whats-its and whits-its that you can’t find anywhere else. Special screw or bolt, etc? They got it. Very helpful and friendly, too ! Low prices.

The only real hardware store left in Bloomington. Always friendly & helpful. More convenient than the big box store.

Best place in town for small parts and odd parts you can’t find in big chain stores. Also staff is very helpful when you bring in a broken item they know exactly what you need and can take you right to the shelf.

This is the first 5 star rating I’ve ever given, but these guys earn it. They have about every bit of hardware you could desire and are great to work with. Need a real rasp, rather than the crap they have at Home Depot? Or a wheel bearing for your wheel barrow? Log chain? Weird size brass tube? They’re a real hardware store and have it all. They must have thirty models of hammers to choose from. I’ll still buy lumber from Lowes, but I’ll always go here for actual hardware. Except on Sundays when the place is closed. Maybe it’s an Indiana thing. I hope that when I die, I go the Kleindorfer’s Hardware.

Kleindorfer’s is Bloomington’s hardware store like Nick’s English Hut is Bloomington’s bar. It’s an institution. If you live in Bloomington you have to be a Kleindorfer’s customer. I’ve been going there my whole life. They were here before Lowe’s and Menards, or any other big box store. It’s a relatively small store but they have EVERYTHING. All you have to do is ask for it and they have it. Just recently I needed a new snow shovel and I knew they would have the best prices. The following week I needed a new mop and bucket and of course they had exactly what I needed for a much lower price than even Walmart or Target. This is an old fashioned hardware store and I highly recommend it.

Found my lamp harp in no time at all — by asking a knowledgeable rep. I agree with the reviewer who stated that THOUSHALTASKFORAND/OR ACCEPTHELPFROMTHESTAFF… we would have wandered around forever looking for a lamp harp. Also, if you don’t know what a lamp harp is, they do!

This is a HARDWARE store. They’re not Lowes or Menards. As a hardware store, they’re very good. Keys, nuts, bolts, wire, paint, and traditional hardware store items abound. The difference is that their personnel are helpful, and know where things are. You may not be able to find it, but they can– or know that they don’t carry something, which is rare. They don’t do exotic stuff, but can often recommend where to find it. They’re not super strong in plumbing, but are pretty good. Can’t buy a toilet there. You can be plentiful guts for a toilet. No washers and dryers, but you can occasionally find all the stuff you need to connect them. Prices are reasonable, and quality is good. Their variety is somewhat smaller than larger places, but you won’t have to look at seven different brands of the same thing to find what you’ll need, either. Overall, very helpful.

I am writing this review for two reasons: I am a hardware store junkie, and I am a convert to Kleindorfer’s. This place is great, but there is one commandment: THOUSHALTASKFORAND/OR ACCEPTHELPFROMTHESTAFFINFINDINGATLEASTONETHING. Truly, I adore hardware stores(and I mean hardware stores, not those horrible gigantic corporate stores like Lowe’s, Menard’s, and Home Depot — ugh). Kleindorfer’s is a good ‘un. But it took me a couple visits to realize that. I really like to wander the aisles, and the first time I came in, that’s what I commenced to do. I was with my daughter, and I turned down an initial offer to find something. Big mistake. What? A woman? With a little kid? Doesn’t want help? INHERE? Total freaking ostracism. It took months before I went back. On my husband’s advice, the next time I asked for help. Voila! Everybody was nice!(I was still the only woman in the place, but oh, well.) And I got everything I needed. THEN I wandered the aisles and got some things I didn’t need. I also heard something that helped me understand my first visit better. Another customer was joshing around with one of the staff. When the customer said he’d go look for something himself, the worker said, «What? You wanna put me out of a job?» Hence the commandment.

This is what a Hardware Store should be! You walk in and are waited on right away by a guy who, you can tell what you are trying to do, he understands and guides you through it, How To Fix it, what Tools you need and any other things you may need to know. They always have everything ! Its soo much better than Lowe’s and Menards the home of «I Don’t Know». Save yourself the grief, just go here and leave happy.
