Specialties
Eye Exams, Eye Treatment, Co-Management for Eye Surgeries: Our primary concern is making sure that you have the best eye health possible. We are able to treat and manage eye problems and diseases.
We offer comprehensive eye exams, which include a refraction, an evaluation for cataracts and glaucoma, and a retinal evaluation to detect detachments or degenerations. We investigate any problems associated with diabetes or high blood pressure. We also diagnose and manage many retinal diseases.
Once we have evaluated your specific eye care needs, we are able to do what is necessary to treat and manage them. We treat glaucoma and macular degeneration, we follow diabetics for retinopathy, and we co-manage cataract and LASIK surgeries.
We also treat eye infections, abrasions, and foreign body removal.
And, of course, we provide fittings and follow-up care for contact lenses, including soft daily wear, disposable, gas permeable, and bifocal and toric lenses for astigmatism.
History
Established in 1990.
Upon graduating from Indiana University School of Optometry in 1990, Dr. Diane Short was employed with NuVision. Two years later, she began her own Bloomington, Indiana-based practice, Insights Optical, Inc. In 2001, after the practice outgrew its space in the College Mall, the office was moved to its present location on Clarizz Blvd. Dr. Diane’s son, Zachary, began working in the practice at age 16; this lead to his decision to also pursue a career in optometry. Dr. Zachary Short earned his degree in 2006, and became a partner in the business. In the fall of 2006, Insights Optical opened an office in French Lick, Indiana; and, two years later, another office was opened in Mitchell, Indiana. Insights Optical takes pride in the fact that it is a family owned business that will always put the patient first.
