Hampton Inn

The hotel Breakfast was one of the worst and full of nats. The overall condition of the room was ok. The lobby area well there really isn’t any. The hotel is under construction and it is well deserved and hope they address the rooms, lobby area, dinning area and the food but I really think the task to move a mountain would be easier.

For the ridiculous $ 200 price tag, this is about a $ 70 room. Very old and dark feel. Saw roach on premises. Bathroom clean, staff friendly. Breakfast buffet was nice with hot entrées. Coffee pot was so dirty inside and out I didn’t use it. Beds are lumpy and hard. Pillows are soft and plentiful. Construction everywhere; i agree with the previous reviewer that they should post that info (or lower their prices). I would not stay here again even after they remodel because i just felt ripped off.

I stayed here two nights this week.
The staff is nice. Friendly helpful. They took down my complaints with a great attitude but I had complaints none the less.
Here they are:
The hotel is towards the end of its useful life as a hilton property if hilton wants to maintain a quality reputation. Has a run down feel although clean. The beds and desk chair were wearing out. Ceiling had multiple repairs.
The walls are thin. It did not help that my room (127) was next to the laundry room which is on the first floor half way down the hall so I quess everybody gets to «share». What I got to share was a couple of early morning hours of staff conversation. It might help if the would close the doors while they conversed.
The walls also conducted some type of loud hum from 5 am until I gave up and checked out at 7:30am. Had hoped to sleep in a bit. Nope.
Perhaps the hum was from the construction being done on the façade of the hotel. Had they posted construction information on their website I might have avoided the hotel but perhaps that is why they don’t post such information on their website.
The construction lift would swing out over my car while they lowered the construction debris to the ground so my newly detailed car got a good coat of dust.
I appreciate that the GM called me to apologize but it would have helped to have some type of discount offered but no. She said she hoped I would consider them again — I am in Bloomington about 4 nights a month — but no. I did appreciate that she called. She said they might post construction information in the future…

Woke up and there was NO hot water. Took a cold shower. Room was ok. Breakfast area was very dirty. Will not stay here again.

As Hampton Inns go, this one is fairly standard. It’s clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. Not quite walking distance to campus or downtown. I had a double room with no fridge or microwave. Also the wi-​fi frequently fluctuated between slow and near unusable.

My first impression was spot on when arriving… the outside is older looking and outdated… surrounding area is a little rough and hotel smells like a nursing home. Not on my must return to list.

I’m graciously giving this hotel a 3 because I’m giving it the benefit of the doubt. Here are the goods, I was in town for a work trip so I was looking for a Hilton property and I wanted something centrally located, check & check. Free breakfast? Check. Positive reviews on Unilocal?Check.
When I got to my room, I noticed my pillows weren’t neatly lined up on my bed (see my pic) and there were old room keys on the dresser — both were signs that made me feel like maybe my room hadn’t been given a thorough cleaning. I chucked the 2 pillows and hit the rack for some Z’s. I was in room 201 and soon found out what the problem was with that room — it’s located right above the front doors — the dual electric sliding doors! Every time someone went through those doors, I heard the dual action as each door opened and closed — 4 sounds per person, mind you… all night long and early the next morning too. I considered changing rooms but the next day a busload of high school students heading for a campus visit of IU checked in so I was afraid I’d end up next to a room full of teens on a field trip.
Other than that, the hotel staff was friendly, the breakfast was good and the room was nice. If I’m in town again, I might stay here again but I won’t be staying in 201!

The Hampton Inn would not be my first choice for accommodations in Bloomington if I had unlimited travel funds. However, seeing as it is typically lower cost than most of the hotels down on the square, it will probably continue to be my choice for the next few years until my wallet is a little thicker.
The front desk staff is incredibly friendly and helpful and the rooms are kept nicely and are a pretty standard setup. However, I do find it strange that there’s no fan in the bathrooms — makes for a hot and sticky post-​shower prep. The walls are also really thin and if anyone is having a conversation in the hallway near your room, they might as well be standing IN your room.
Unfortunately, last time I was there I left my phone in the room. Housekeeping checked but couldn’t find it, so we had to come back and look. Turned out to be just under the bedskirt. Makes me wonder if they really looked or how long it would have been sitting there?
Like I said, this is fine for now, but won’t always be my go-​to.

A/​c was DOA, but they comped the room without question. Can’t beat a $ 5 room (for tip)

As a frequent traveler, I can be pretty numb to the staff who works behind the rental car, airline, and hotel front desks. I know where the food is served, how the bathrooms work, and I am fully capable of operating my own personal alarm clock in order to wake for my day.
However, the friendly, kind, sweet, and genuine staff working at this hotel always gives me pause when I check in. Their nice and they know me and they make it a point to provide quality service based on the individual.
The room are standard by Hampton standards but they are clean and decently laid out. My rooms have a fridge and they have a few two room suites with whirlpool bathtubs.
It’s not as nice as the HGI downtown and it’s a bit of a walk from anything other than the Great Wall but it’s a warm and friendly place to sleep for an evening.

This was pretty stock as far as a Hampton Inn goes and was expected.
What was not expected was the staff. Everyone I came in contact with was super pleasant. About 20 minutes after check in, we were in a room and got a call from the front desk asking if everything was to my liking in the room. I’ve stayed in a wide variety of hotels, and I have NEVER had someone do that before.
The breakfast was pretty standard but hot/​cold (as required by the product), well stocked, and organized.
The pool, as someone already mentioned, is outdoors. The fitness room consists of 2 treadmills, 1 elliptical, and 1 stairclimber. The sign in the fitness room in big red letters states that anyone under 18 is not allowed on the equipment, so you can imagine my displeasure when someone on the treadmill allowed her probably 8 year old daughter take up the other one and didn’t tell her to get off when my husband and walked in. 0 stars on her consideration for others and parenting but not really Hampton Inn’s problem.

While hardly the lap of luxury, this hotel was a pleasant surprise based on my expectations. Actually, it was the room itself which gave us the most pleasure, because the lobby and common areas are exactly what one would imagine at the words «Hampton Inn.» The rooms have obviously been refurbished recently, in a modern, tasteful, and – dare I say – almost sophisticated style. Everything looked and felt new, from the furniture to the carpet to the bedding to the bathroom fixtures.
As always, I judge a hotel on the little things:
+ Towels were fresh, white, and soft
+ Free, fast wi-​fi, and easy to connect
+ The window curtains fully blocked out the morning sun
+ Plenty of free parking right near the main entrance
+ A small but clean fitness room with new-​looking machines
-/​+ No drinking glasses in the room, but at least paper cups are better than plastic or styrafoam
-/​+ Free pool, which we did not use, but it’s outdoor
+/​-​Free breakfast, which is only worthwhile if you want to grab a quick apple and a coffee on your way out the door

When the website says «pool,» please note that it’s an outdoor pool! Not so useful in the winter.
The nice thing about Hampton Inn’s is they’re reliably… nice. This one is no exception. The front desk staff is practically tripping over themselves trying to make you happy, going so far as to recommend things to do and places to go. Rooms are clean and recently remodeled.
It’s about 3 mi from campus, though, so bring your car/​bike/​walking shoes. Great location if you’re going to something in the stadium, tho.
