DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Bloomington

Stayed here for a conference.
Pros:
–Clean, modern, spacious rooms
–Nice facilities
–great service at the hotel bar
–Attached to a TGIFRIDAYS next door to Panera
–Front desk staff were friendly, upbeat, and helpful
–Conference spaces were recently renovated. Very easy to get to different rooms at the conference
–Beautiful ballroom for events
–Comfy beds and pillows
–large and abundant free breakfast buffet!
Cons:
–bottled water in the rooms were not free, but the labeling implied that it was free for Hilton Honors members. I was staying on the HH floor, but still got hit with a $ 3.50 fee for bottled water
–would have liked a place to fill a water bottle. It was impossible to do this in the room sinks and I didn’t see a water fountain. I asked the front desk where one was in the building and they gave me a complementary bottle from the fridge at the front desk.
–would have liked a place to recycle. Had some cans and bottles in the room that I felt bad about throwing them away.
–was never offered a trademark cookie :(
Overall, a pleasant conference stay. Would definitely recommend this place for events.

Check in was smooth. Not a lot of parking in the front lot. Was awoken at 4 am due to bed bugs. The front desk people did not seemed to surprised. Offered a different room but we decided to head home. There was at least 4 to 5 that we found. Would not go back. They said they were going to quarantine the room.

Awesome hotel! From a cookie at check-​in to the clean atmosphere to the great breakfast. This place rocked! Now the rates will go up!

I stayed a few times. Rooms clean, breakfast not bad. But the service and front desk were poor. The last straw for me was the last time I reserved a room and showed up, they told me they had my reservation but did not have a room for me. They did offer to put me up at an alternative hotel, but it was an awful place. To me, being unable to honor my reservation is a pretty bad problem, but it was made so much worse by «making it up to me» by putting me up in a substandard alternative.

Booked a «king executive suite» for a couple of nights because we are in town for a friend’s wedding. Checked in via Hilton app, upon arrival front desk at first said there was not a record of check-​in. Suite not ready by check-​in time. Had to strongly pressure front desk to get us any room so we could get ready for wedding and leave on-​time. Stressful. All of a sudden, the suite is magically ready. Please don’t claim a check-​in time of 3 pm if you can’t have your rooms ready. Especially your more expensive suites.
Left the in-​room breakfast hanger on the outside of the door long before published cut-​off time (midnight). No one picked it up, so no breakfast delivery in the time frame we requested. Thankfully we don’t have another event this morning. The service at this «hotel» is lacking. They did not even comp us a breakfast! No napkins with in-​room food delivery. No spoons even though we had yogurt delivered. Ugh.
The room is clean, could use some updating. I have never seen carpet baseboards before. One of the drains in the bathroom sink was not opening. Thankfully we knew how to correct it before having to call for assistance. Refrigerator set so high beverages froze.
Don’t stay here if you have important events to get to… on time.

I travel quite a bit and I find this hotel exceptional. They are always so friendly, the rooms are very clean and nice. They are in the process of updating their décor which will make it even nicer. I am a diamond member and on my last visit Sarah and the other staff with here were very friendly Sarah gave me a very nice room upgrade. I have received very nice upgrades here before and appreciate it that they recognize me as a loyal Hilton member. I also like to mention the breakfast is also excellent. The fruits are fresh, there is a verity if food choices. The omelets were very good as well. I just can’t say enough!

I am a nursing mother and sometimes it can be VERY challenging to find accommodating places to do the simplest things to help provide food for your child while away from them. I was attending a seminar for business but I wasn’t staying the night at The DoubleTree in Bloomington, IL. Which means I did not have a room to do my «motherly duties» on our given breaks. I asked if there was a designated spot for such thing and without hesitation they offered me one of the rooms that was the closest to the convention center and said I could use it during the duration of my 5 hour seminar. I was very grateful for the help. So many places do not offer these types of accommodations — you usually have to resort to pumping in your vehicle crouched down from the traffic or in a bathroom stall– and if you only have one that is electronic… Good luck finding a discrete and private area to plug into. So thank you to the fine kind folks at The DoubleTree! The hard working mothers across the world salute you! Ps the new remodel looks amazing!

Double tree hotel I love you. I attended the Heart/​Joan Jett concert March 20^th 2015. I loved the fact that this hotel had shuttles taking people to the show. We could relax enjoy the show, and drink with no worries. And best believe I took full advantage of that!
The staff was all super cool, and the cookie upon check in is always nice. I take back the word nice cuz those Motherf*cking cookies are EVERYTHING. The prices were pretty awesome as well. We stayed on a pretty nice room with two beds (3 people), and it was only about 120 bucks. That wasn’t bad.
I love that there is a TGI Fridays attached to the building. We hit that bar up after the show and had some food to soak up that liquor. I was quite shocked with how much food the Double tree serves for breakfast which was also included for all three of us. They had so much to choose from.
This hotel had so many positives that I’m looking for another reason to come back. I can’t wait for the next concert. You really can’t beat what they provided for that price!

My family’s stay at the Double Tree in Bloomington, IL, was our absolute worst stay at any hotel ever. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone, nor will I stay there again. Our family was in town for a very special event, and our stay at this hotel absolutely ruined what could have been a wonderful memory. The problem was, the rooms across the hall and next to us were the sites for loud, uncontained parties until about 3 am — definitely not ideal for a family with young children. For hours we listened to music from cell phones right outside our door, doors slamming, loud altercations in the hallway, and what sounded like a frat party, and the hotel staff did absolutely nothing to solve the problem. Brian at the front desk repeatedly told us that he was the only one working so didn’t know what to do about the situation, and when he did confront one of the parties, we heard him tell the individuals that the people across the hall complained about them!!! I was appalled and mortified by the poor service and poor treatment by hotel staff in not only tolerating this behavior from guests, but allowing it to ruin others’ stays — definitely not what one would have expected from a Double Tree. Double Tree Bloomington, you should be ashamed of yourself, and thanks for tainting what was intended to be a special weekend.

We received the ring. No explanation as to where it was found or who returned it, but we are glad it’s back.

Well here I am again in my favorite hotel in IL. What can I say? I would rather stay here and drive the almost 2 hours to get where I am working. Totally worth it, super friendly staff and they go above and then some ! Need a smile when you return to your hotel after a long days work away from home? HERE folks is where you can get that !
Sure you get a nice warm cookie anytime you want it at other Double Trees, but here you get that and some friends waiting to check in on you. Where can you stay that they will even order you dinner from their fav takeout after room service is closed? Check it guys you won’t regret it

Extremely nice visit. Clean and updated property. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Weekend with daughter’s family and ²⁄₅ YO grandchildren. Pool area great, well maintained. Courtyard area great with big tables, umbrellas and attractive landscaping, perfect for games, drinks, family fun. Breakfast buffet, complimentary, was far beyond the typical waffle and bagel bar. Omelette station friendly servers, etc. Highly recommended.

Amazing service, Amazing complimentary breakfast (so far this is the only DT hotel i been to that offered FREE breakfast), Amazing room. What more can you ask for???

Illinois good safety symposium conference is here today and I have to say I am quite pleased at the conference location and space. It’s a really nice hotel and the ample parking provided. THis is something I can really appreciate as some Hotels have parking but only enough for 100 cars, this particular hotel has parking in front on the side and in the back, also another entrance.
I can appreciate a Hotel that has history and I love it when staff know about the history.
The rooms are nice and have everything you need, I was lucky enough to ask for the highest floor possible and they accommodated. My room had microwave, fridge, desk and all the things I needed for a pleasant stay. I am very thankful for that. It was nice to always have toiletries when I needed them, and of course the maid who took care of the room was going to be happy, as I love to tip them accordingly since my mom once was a maid at another hotel of course.
Another thing that I really love is that there are so many stores all around here. I mean, Bed, Bath and Beyond, Target, the Mall less then a mile away. This is really a convenient spot to be in. I was shopping at various stores all week since I came a few days earlier to relax and have a good time with thinking.
Not your typical hotel since it is vintage filled with many antiques so if you want super fancy front desk, go elsewhere, But I like vintage.
The only thing that I will say that was not the best is that the chlorine bleach could be smelled from all over the hotel, especially the first floor. But it wasn’t super bad for me at all, just a little bothersome.
I used a coupon to get a free hotel day stay so make sure you look for coupons buy googling this hotel, plus it had tons of other coupons also that were able to be used around the area.

Of the many hotels that I have stayed in here in the Bloomington/​Normal area, the Doubletree is my favorite.
There are a number of really I prefer this hotel:
1. The staff here are friendly and very efficient at their jobs. I’ve dealt with Ana, Paul, and Kelsey and each make it great to come here each week. A shorter blond girl was also sweet, but I forget her name.
2. They have a bar right on the property in the lobby. Great bartenders and fantastic drink specials. I haven’t had the food yet, but it’s nice to be able to get a drink and some snacks right downstairs.
3. If you’re staying at a hotel in this area, there is a good chance you are working at Big Red. This is the closet hotel to their corporate headquarters, which makes the drive to work a breeze.
4. Rooms are nicely appointed and clean. Some rooms have fridges and microwaves and all rooms have HBO.
5. The warm cookies are amazing. Best cookies in the business! They don’t need to add the calories on the package though!
6. Effective, quiet and easy to use AC/​Heating units.
7. Fun random events for guests. They know must of us here are business travelers and make our lives easier when we’re away from home.
One thing they need to upgrade is the internet. Right now I’m getting 1MB/​sec download speeds which isn’t that great.

We were driving from California and this was the second stop we had. We arrived at midnite. Most of the hotels were fully booked. I was the one who asked the front desk as soon as we got here because we really needed to rest. The guy said they have one room for $ 124.99. It was too much and we were planning to go to another hotel that had a $ 79.99 rate. But my dad who was in California called them and offered a rate of $ 89.99 but this was excluding the complimentary breakfast which was fine. We got the room and the other guy offered us 3 warm cookies. That was really nice of him since we were super hungry.
The hallways were okay. Carpet appeared to be slightly dirty but who cares really. We were gonna stay there for only 7 hours since we had to get back on the road.
Room was super clean, tidy. We had two full beds, a flatscreen TV, Wolfgang puck coffeemaker, Oster microwave and a fridge. Bathroom was also clean.
The next morning we passed by the lobby and saw the breakfast buffet. Since we didn’t avail that, they said it’s $ 6.99/person. We decided to eat there since it’s really convenient and we had to be on the road asap. The buffet had a really nice and organized setup. They had coffee machines, a cereal station, french toasts, bacon, fruits and a live station for omelettes. The ladies who were there were really nice and very accommodating!
I would recommend this to everyone especially if you could get the rate that we had.

I love Doubletree beds. I like to stay here simply for that reason alone. Couple that with the «disaster» rate and free breakfast and I’m sold.
I suppose I should explain what the «disaster rate» is… it is when the highway looks like an un plowed neighborhood side street. It’s when you are only able to go 30 mph for 3 hours of I-​55. It’s when there are over 50 cars and truck off roaded and it looks like some kind of end of the world snow storm outside.
The «disaster rate» is for when people need to get off the streets and the hotels drop their prices for people like me and my mom who are terrified of driving any further.
Thank you Doubletree/​Hilton for providing some shelter from the scariest snow storm we’ve ever had to drive through.

Check-​in: AWESOME! Great, friendly staff. Their outfits were color-​coordinated, really friendly, efficient, and welcoming. They have whiskey wednesdays, happy hour in the courtyard, and other awesome events for HHonors members that they give you all the flyers/​paperwork about.
Room: I was upgraded to a room with whirlpool and a fireplace (wall fireplace that separates the living room and bedroom). The fireplace was so cozy to sleep to and kept the room so warm and cozy. Living space was huge, had a wet bar and a refrigerator.
Breakfast: The ambiance is a little lacking… Florescent lights, a little crowded, and table arrangements are a bit awkward. Breakfast itself was pretty decent. eggs weren’t too «fake“like, soymilk was available.
Business center: there wasn’t one available during my stay– it was under construction.
Parking: free surface parking.

I had this reservation set up by my company. Otherwise I probably would have picked a different hotel because when it comes to hotels, my needs are very basic. I’m not saying that the Double Tree is bad though. The bed was comfortable, a lot of pillows. I could turn the heat up to 90 degrees and it would stay nice and toasty. There is a huge TV and a moderate amount of space to store your things. The breakfast is nice and filling. They have a workout room (kind of small, but it doesn’t the trick). I wish the hot tub/​jacuzzi was working but it was DOA. They have small refrigerators in the rooms as well as a two cup personal coffeemaker. They also have a full ironing board with iron. They have a shuttle in the afternoon that will take you just about anywhere you want to go. And you can always take a cab elsewhere.
I few things I did not like are: Everyone knows about the rules of using towels. If you’re done with it, you put it on the floor. If you’re reusing it you hang it on the rack. They have signs/​pamphlets indicating that they conserve water and follow the rule, but everyday I would hang my towel on the rack and everyday there were new towels (unless they just pick up the used ones and refold them…*shrugs*) Anyway, 2. I like hot water, but if you turn the sink faucet all the way to the hot, it is major scalding hot. So you spend like 5 minutes trying to gauge if you’ve got the right temperature and end up burning yourself anyway. 3. The wifi… or lack there of. It may be a flaw in design or maybe just so many people trying to connect, but at most I would only get 2 bands of Wifi on the 1^st floor. It would consistently kick me off and I ended up getting faster speed with my 3G on my cell. 4. They have coffeemakers in the room w/​coffee & tea, but no sugar. 5. It was hard to get in my room because you have to leave the key in the slot a little longer than normal to allow the door to open. So when you’re tired at the end of the day, who the eff wants to take 15 – 20 tries to get into their room? The staff said they’d send someone to check it out, but who knows. I left and went to Panera Bread.
I won’t really touch on the service since I spent all of 2 minutes checking in and checking out. I’ll probably be back to Bloomington so hopefully I can update this to 4 or 5 stars next time.

The room was nice, the bed was comfortable, the wifi was free. The banquet facilities were nice as well.
Unfortunately, all of the «niceness» was overshadowed by the front desk service… a little lacking. They have a keurig machine right next to the front desk, by some coolers that have water and sodas for sale. Keurig coffee is $ 1.25 per cup. So, that’s fine. I pay the front desk attendant, and make my coffee. I ask for a lid for the coffee, he says they don’t have any at the desk. I ask if he can get one for me from the back, he looks at me, confused.
As I’m finishing preparing my cup of coffee, another front desk attendant comes up and says «you know you have to *pay* for that, right?» I respond politely with, «yes, I already have, thank you.» She says, «well, you know you could’ve had free coffee from down the hall off of the breakfast buffet.» Me: «No, no one explained that to me.»
She turned to her counterpart in front of me and yelled at him in front of me for not offering me the free coffee instead. That’s just off putting. I wouldn’t want to be yelled at in front of anyone else, let alone yelled at in general by a co-​worker.
I just avoided the front desk in the mornings after that.
