Cheapest gas in Bloomington and not too ridiculously out of the way. Nice, small, air-conditioned store with nice staff and a clean bathroom. I saw the fabled square donuts. There’s an atm but I think the fee is pretty steep, as high as $ 3.50, depending on your bank appparebtly.

Circle K, you started carrying square donuts again! Yay! Now you’re my favorite gas station in Bloomington again. «Don’t ever change!» On a side note: I’m pretty sure the guy behind the counter was high as a kite when I went in. He kept looking over at a display of candy, asking me: «Did you hear that sound? A weird sound just came from over there, man, did you hear it?» I then asked him if he had any antihistamines. He just looked really confused and stared at me silently. Eventually I noticed them on the other side of the counter and grabbed some. Dude seemed really out of it though haha

I’m an asshole, so you can be damn sure that I wouldn’t write a review of a convenience store unless it was one hell of a convenience store. This Circle K is such a place. Convenience store culture has long been stigmatized in the American psyche. But the staff at the Circle K is doing its part to remove the stigma. I spend each day in the building directly across from the Circle K and I usually make one visit per day for coffee or peanuts. After nearly 7 months of this, I have yet to encounter a rude or unfriendly clerk. Each member of the staff goes out of his or her way to say something cheerful, or give me a nice friendly pat on the tush. One day they were completely out of coffee, and in a memorable showing of class, the clerk apologized and gave me a free coffee coupon. I was also told by another clerk that she didn’t mind if I took free coffee or hot water for tea so long as I brought my own cup. These are the types of actions which cost a business very little and ensure that the customer will return. They are actions associated with a successful business. The moral of the story? It’s always cost-effective to bend the rules if it makes the customer happy. Minus one star only because there is not a single goddamn food item in this convenience store that won’t give you cancer.
