Expert, gentle, & holistic oriented Cat Grooming. Absolutely no restraints or muzzles; the emphasis is on compassion & understanding your cat. Housecall grooming takes place in your home where your cat is most at ease. Full groom includes: bath, no heat hand drying, ear and tear stain cleaning, nail trimming, & breed specific facial trims. History

Established in 2008.

Sheryl, founder and owner of Wet Whisker, is a graduate of the Academy of Dog and Cat Grooming Arts in Arlington Heights, where she teaches cat grooming seminars with a focus on holistics. Sheryl is the co-​founder of the Holistic Cat Groomers Alliance (HCGA; an educational organization for grooming professionals), a lecturer for The Cat Grooming Symposium, and holds memberships in the Professional Cat Groomers Assoc. of America & The Society of Holistic Pet Stylists. Currently studying reiki, T-​Touch massage, & sound therapy for the benefit of the cats.

I’ve owned cats all my life and currently own Maine Coon mix rescues, Norwegian Forest Cats, and Ragdolls.

Cats are easily stressed and prefer to be groomed in their «own territory». Putting them in a carrier & being carted off to a strange place upsets cats, Which is why I chose to make in home grooming visits. I believe in making grooming less stressful for cats, using respectful & compassionate methods. The goal is to build a bond of trust & affection.

Sheryl is absolutely FANTASTIC! She did an amazing job on my long haired cat who has a lot of attitude. I had her apply nail caps, give her a lion cut, & bath. She handled her very well. I was very pleased to see that she was gentle and treated her as if it were her own pet. She was extremely knowledgable about cats in general, not just the grooming aspect of things. She told me about what types are foods are good and bad for cats & even wrote down a list of what to look for in the ingredients as well as several brands that she recommends.
You can tell she takes time and really cares about what she does. My cat looks fantastic and she seems very happy with her new hairstyle. I had her do a «lion cut» the cat is shaved down leaving only «boots», the face & neck, and a poof at the end of the tail. Sheryl also applied nail caps to my cat which was great because I tried myself and had a very difficult time. She really knows how to handle the cat, talking to her in a nice calm tone, holding her gently, which really changes the entire attitude of the cat & keeps her as calm as possible through the process.
She finished up by making an adorable bow for her collar and vacuuming up all the hair which was very nice!
I’ve had my cat groomed by other «cat groomers» and I will never use anyone else after my experience with Wet Whisker.

Just used Sheryl of Wet Whisker again this week to come bathe my 2 cats. I allowed her to pick up the key from a mutual business associate. Sheryl came & bathed my girls while I was at work. You can’t trust many people to do that! Sheryl sent me pictures of the girls when they were done. She locked up & returned the key. When I got home the girl had adorable purple bows on their collars. Purple is my favorite color! They looked great! Coats gleaming & nails trimmed. My home was exactly as I had left it — nice & neat. Sheryl did a great job as always!

Sheryl is absolutely incredible! I have two long-​haired kittens who needed lion cuts as they were shedding profusely even with daily brushing. They ended up looking absolutely adorable and you can see how much love and effort Sheryl puts into her work. She also was able to recommend better brushes for when their hair grew back out. Definitely above and beyond service for a great price.

We wholeheartedly recommend Wet Whisker. You will not find a more conscientious, professional and wonderful groomer specializing in cats. Seriously. She’s extremely well-​versed and knowledgeable in her profession, and continues to keep very current on techniques and other cat stuff. The best.
She also does cat-​sitting in a very limited area, and lucky for us and our critters, we reside within it! We can’t sing her praises loud enough for the awesome, way-​over-​and-​beyond job she did for us, enabling us to enjoy our vacation with full confidence that our little darlings were in the best of care in our own home. Our furrboy fell in love with her immediately, the girls warmed up quickly enough and she was so adept at drawing them out and doing playtimes with them. We got mobile updates every visit, which were the best.
FYI, to put into the right perspective the utterly fantastic job she did — we ADORE our kitties, spoil them to the nth degree, nothing is too good for them — I can be a nightmare to work with where my cats are concerned — I hover, ask a million questions, very demanding, etc. Wet Whisker was extremely patient and accommodating with all my quirks, very professional throughout.
We will happily use her services again.

I found Wet Whiskers on the Internet and am very pleased with Sheryl. She was very patient with my cat and very professional. I could tell right away she loves cats. Also, the fact that she travels to my home is a HUGE plus because my cat becomes so stressed when he travels. I recommend Wet Whiskers to anyone who wants the best grooming available for his or her feline friend.

If you have cats that need to be groomed, clipped, trimmed and/​or made to have fluffy, fresh-​smelling coats, Wet Whisker is the only place you should consider. Most other groomers in the area specialize in dogs with a cat service on the side. Wet Whisker only specializes in cats and they know what they’re doing.
The last time I had the cats groomed, I went to PetCo, where the cats were clearly traumatized for more than 10 minutes by a dozen or so large dogs barking and growling at them while time they were waiting to be groomed. I vowed never to return to PetCo for grooming after that experience.
This time, we had Wet Whisker come out to our house last week to bathe and groom both of our cats (one a long hair and the other a short). All I can say is, Wet Whisker knows cats! Our groomer came out and immediately bonded with our two cats, giving them little treats and petting them to gain their trust. She also began telling us several interesting facts about our particular cats’ breeds that we weren’t aware of. The groomer also patiently took her time to get the job done professionally and completely. At one point, one of the cats became scared of the hair dryer and tried to make a run for it. The groomer knew exactly what to do in order to get her back on the table and calmed back down so she could finish the job.
We will definitely be calling Wet Whisker again the next time they need to be groomed. It takes the hassle out of grooming them and it keeps the cats’ panic levels to a minimum… especially since it’s done in your own home by someone who is a devoted fan of cats and a specialist in what she does.
