Incredibly long wait, which is normal and understandable for a place that is rushed with people looking for haircuts. However, I have a problem with people walking in(notice that they don’t take reservations/add anyone to a wait list until they are there) and getting bumped up to the top of the list ahead of people who have been waiting there for over 30 minutes. Additionally I have a problem when other«customers» receive special treatment. The gentlemen who was not only put to the front of the wait list upon walking in far after most people, he also didn’t pay nor did any of the three workers try to stop the man from leaving. This ultimately made me and another gentleman waiting to believe that this was someone the workers knew personally and decided to receive extra special treatment. Rather rude to customers who wait over a half hour for a $ 20 overpriced sub-par haircut. Won’t be coming back unfortunately.

Sport Clips… Now the GNC coupons and the assortment of men’s magazines make sense. I got a haircut here, it was OK. I dunno, if you’re going to cater to men, why not use a straight razor for shaving? But I guess that would make it a barber shop. If you want a cheap cut, go here. I have always preferred the barbershop atmosphere though. I feel like my haircut here was a bit hasty. But you can get some sweet deals on GNC products here, I guess that’s a bonus.

My husband was in great need of a haircut and a coupon arrived in the mail for a free haircut. Perfect! We finally had some free time on a Saturday and decided to put it to use. It was pretty busy but that’s to be expected on a weekend. It was nice to have tvs to watch(and I love watching sports) while I waited for him. Jenny did a great job on his hair — It was evenly cut despite a difficult hairline and they offer a free«touch-up» of the neck and around the ears within 30 days. There was one stylist(I’m unsure of her name) cutting a young boys hair(probably age 8 or 9, who was using the clippers on the sides and back. I could see from the waiting area about 4 – 5 circular lines around his head where the clippers left the hair longer. He wasn’t squirming and she may have been new, but it didn’t look good and she let him leave without fixing it. All in all, I(as well as my husband) was pleased with our first visit to this location and will definitely be back. Jenny was awesome!

If you want to be a Gurnee pig for their Stylist where you don’t have to pay much, this place might be good for you. They will cut your hair quickly. Too quickly that became sloppy. Their price is cheap and so with their quality. If you don’t care how you look, come to this place. For me, I rather pay $ 2-$ 3 dollars more and get a professional haircut. I was there one time, got sloppy haircut, and never went back.

I’m one of those lucky guys whose mother taught him how to cut his own hair. And I do it rather well, I might add. Mom taught me well. I have had compliments. So for the past five years or more, I haven’t set foot in a barber shop or salon. I just came to the conclusion one day after an iffy haircut by a «professional» that I could do way better without spending $ 15 or more plus tip. For some reason, this year I decided to give hair cutting establishments another chance. The $ 7 coupon I received for Sport Clips in a direct mail envelope is what got me in their door. I had seen this chain before in downtown Chicago and in a few suburbs and was intrigued by the sport themed salon with lots of TV’s and locker room décor. Target audience is obviously men. So I figured they must know how to give a guy a good cut. No problem getting a chair without an appointment. I only waited a few minutes. I explained what kind of cut I wanted in fair detail(and even asked if I was being too«high maintenance»). And then the stylist went to work. She asked if I knew the clip size I use for the electric clippers. I told her #4… even though I use a #2 for the lower part of my hair closest to my neck and blend it up to a #4 near the top part of my head. But again, I didn’t want to seem too high maintenance. Wait… ummm, don’t you wash my hair first? I thought that was standard? Glad I had clean hair when I went in. I guess a shampoo is not included in the standard haircut price, and definitely not with the coupon. My stylist finished pretty quickly. It was okay. Not bad, not great, just okay. I did have her trim a little more off my troublesome cowlick. She asked if I wanted product in my hair, to which I said just a bit of gel. I paid, they gave me a coupon card with $ 5, $ 4, $ 3, $ 2 off regular price for future visits, and then I was on my way. Not sure that I’ll go back to any Sport Clips location, though. A full price haircut just didn’t seem worth the value to me. But, if you’re looking for a quick cut and friendly service, and aren’t as picky as me when it comes to hair, Sport Clips is worth a try.
