I love Michael’s in general, though my opinion of this store greatly varies each time I visit. They’re not as big as other Michael’s but I always seem to find what I’m looking for there. The staff is not the most friendliest, I think they can benefit from some customer service lessons. They also drive me nuts with their coupon policy, one cashier will tell me they can only accept one coupon per person per day while another cashier will tell me they can accept one coupon in its category, e.g. one 50% off one item AND one 20% off your entire purchase. I wish they would make up their minds. Overall, I will continue shopping here as it is conveniently located and I like their selection.

I love Michael’s!!! Their selection is unlike any other place you will find of its kind but you will pay the premium. I almost always stop in with at least one 40% coupon for one item. On other days, I will live with a drive by of the clearance section or a 15% off coupon for the entire purchase. If you plan to frequent the store, I highly recommend signing up for their text messages, emails or download the app. You will receive weekly ads and coupons to further encourage your visits and purchases.

I LOVE Michael’s! However, this location is never my first stop. It’s a very small location and thus has significantly less products than other stores. The inside is also very cluttered and only seems to stock the fake plants and neglect the paint/drawing section and other crafty sections. They ONLY have the basic necessities for painting and watercolors. Always check online or download the Michael’s app for coupons and deals; they always have something! Sign up for their email club and get 15% off entire purchase.

I am not sure what is worse — the absolutely incompetent help or equally mentally-challenged customers. I have been to this store 4x this year alone and have regretted every visit. How difficult is it to ring up a purchase and bag it: 5 minutes per person? 10 minutes? Really? Service like this is why Walmart, Meijer and the internet can siphon off considerable business. If you can’t figure out how to operate a business — close. do everyone a favor. I will not return.

Love this Michael’s! The staff is super friendly and courteous. The store is huge, so if you’re unfamiliar with your surroundings it may be hard to find what you need. Luckily there is always a staff member there to direct you to your needs. Never buy anything at regular price! They almost always have a 40 or 50% off coupon, and you can download the ap so that you don’t have to carry along all the paper coupons.

So it’s time for a quick update. This Michael’s location has become more cluttered and less friendly over the years. This is not my favorite location. I do like the Michael’s iPhone application that always had good coupons to use. I also like the sticker selection(but not the prices). Watch your prices on the register. Things don’t always seem to ring up correctly here.

As spring has arrived, the search commenced for a couple of pots to plant some vines in the front yard. Enter Michaels. They had a couple of $ 40 urns on clearance for only $ 16 a piece. Not bad at all. In fact, many of their clearance items were very reasonably priced. As for the regular merchandise, the tickets seem to be a bit higher than average. If you can scout out the deals in the red tag areas, you’ll do just fine. Avoid the overpriced non-sale artificial flowers and other kitsch and you won’t loose a small fortune in here. The garden already looks better!

I have mixed views on Michael’s. On the one hand, I’ve had some great«finds» at this store. Case in point: I’d been searching for months for the perfect wicker baskets for a shelving unit in our playroom, and Michael’s turned out to be the chicken dinner winner. They also have a decent supply of scrapbooking materials, which came in handy when I was trying to refinish a dollhouse and needed some«wallpaper.» But Michael’s prices are so much higher than Hobby Lobby’s or Joann’s. Even with a 40% off coupon(which you can clip weekly in the Sunday paper, or print online), I’m still paying much more when I shop at Michael’s. The worst example of this price gouging occurred when my boyfriend took a stack of airline tickets(he’s a frequent flier) to be glued onto a heavy cardstock and framed. We had already had several similar custom frames made, so when the bill at Michael’s came out to more than $ 250 for two small frames(during a 50% off sale, and WITH an additional 20% off coupon), I can assure you this was highway robbery(we got about eight for the same price at another store). On top of the astronomical cost, they weren’t able to match the frame he used on the previous projects, so we ended up with something much thicker than desired. I will never again use Michael’s for custom framing! The staff at this store is terribly unfriendly and unhelpful. They can’t even crack a smile or greet you when you’re waiting in line! And boy oh boy, they are sticklers for the rules! I had a coupon for 20% off my total purchase that started at 4:00 p.m. one day. I checked out at 3:30 p.m. and there were no circumstances under which they would honor that coupon early. Joann is practically next door to Michael’s, and offers a far larger selection overall. If you’re in the area, I’d suggest going there instead.

I usually shop here for crafts & other things, but no more! Their framing department is over-priced & understaffed! I waited 15 minutes to order a frame for a poster only to have the clerk too short on time to want to help me! I picked out a frame & paid a FORTUNE(even with a 60% coupon)! Two weeks later I picked up the item, but when I got it home I realized that they didn’t even smooth out the poster properly under the glass! I am thinking of taking it back, but I have signed off on the receipt(you must do this to receive your item). Next time I will go to HOBBYLOBBY, where they are helpful &MUCHLESSEXPENSIVE!

I love Michaels.(normally) I love walking up and down the aisles and having creative ideas hit my brain. This is not one of my favorite Michaels. This location seems to have a smaller selection then the Michaels in Downers Grove or Berwyn. The store also seems to be a little more cluttered/messy. At lunch to buy a single bottle of Mod Podge I spent almost 20 mins in the store waiting in line. Did I mention that they actually keep Mod Podge at the check out? I did grab it there… I never even ventured deep into the store during this trip. I think they may be understaffed here. The store never seems as busy as the other Michaels I have been too… but I can also never seem to get out of there, or find someone to help me. I also may add… it could just be bad luck… but last Christmas someone backed into my car while I was inside this Michaels shopping, broke my tail light and drove away! There are no camera’s in the parking lot and the managers didn’t really seem to care that my car had been hit. As much as I can… I go to the other Michaels locations, however this one does still work in a pinch.

I knit and crochet almost compulsively so I buy a LOT of yarn — but I hate this place. Their prices are not marked on the merchandise consistently nor are they competitive with the Jo-Ann’s right down the road. Not to mention they don’t necessarily honor that promise they post prominently about honoring competitors coupons/specials. And don’t get me started on the staff — I’ve generally found they are not knowledgable about their stock and generally on the edge of rudeness. Go to Jo-Ann’s!

Another school project for one of my kids sent us here. It wasn’t the caveman outfit, or make your own brick. Actually it’s kind of a blur, we do so many of those useless projects! Don’t get me going on that. This is a crafter’s place with all kinds of stuff — scrapbooking, dried flowers, candles, cake decorating supplies. You name it they have it. But good luck finding it because they apparently don’t have the same shelfing capability as the staff as the Gap(do you ever see stuff in piles there?). Stuff is kind of strewn about or just messed up, so you have to pick around to find what you want. The good thing about this place is that they always have 2 coupons in the Sunday Tribune. One is for 40% off. Theoretically you should get a good bargain, but because everything is already on sale, the discount isn’t that great, but it’s better than nothing. My favorite spot for this kind of stuff is Hobby Lobby, but they aren’t open on a Sunday, so this is a good alternative.
