Chick Shack Taco Shack is a mall food court eatery specializing in both chicken and Mexican cuisine. In my trip to the mall during lunchtime I decided to give the food court a lookover and seeing that this place is new to the mall I decided to try it. After looking over their menu I decided to try a #3 or a Chicken strip sandwich combo that includes fries and a drink. After placing my order the only person manning the stand quickly got to work preparing my meal. The chicken strips for the sandwich were placed in the deep fryer, and shortly after a bunch of frozen french fries soon joined them. He then took some time, got the break ready and had the meat, lettuce, tomato, and sauce(mayonnaise mixed with some sort of ranch from what I can tell) assembled. Then dropped the fries in. The whole process took around 10 minutes. After pouring my drink I was on my way back to the office with food from Chick Shack Taco Shack in hand. So you might be asking yourself«how was the food»? The sandwich came on hard bread that was somewhat dry. While the bread wasn’t difficult to bite through, it also was not as soft as the bread found on other«po’ boy» style chicken strip sandwiches that I’ve had. The actual chicken itself was small long pieces of chicken strips. They were soft and had a lot of seasoning but the taste was just kind of greasy and not particularly appetizing. The mayo-ranch sauce combined with it fairly well, and the tomato and lettuce included were decent compliments. My general reaction from eating this sandwich was that it tasted like it was made with inexpensive microwavable chicken nuggets or chicken strips found at a grocery store. The fries included were soggy steak fries. They were a bit greasy, light on salt and flavor-challenged. I thought about adding a comment like«would be better with ketchup» but really any fries might be. You’re just masking the flavor of the fries with something sweet. Overall Chick Shack Taco Shack failed to impress me with their Chicken strip sandwich. It’s far from the worst mall food I’ve ever had, and I get the sense that they might even be capable of preparing some quality Mexican dishes there. From the chicken side though, they definitely could be using different and better chicken strips. I give it two stars, I don’t recommend it but you could certainly do worse.
