I came here for take out for late breakfast last weekend. I don’t know much about Philipino food. I order two platters so I could get a sampling. I pointed to the beef and a stir fried canned corned beef with onions. I think I saw the guy pour a ton of garlic salt when he was making the garlic rice. If that’s the case I found the secret and will add it to my rice from now on, The place is really a hole in the wall. I would not try the pocky and other candy he has for sale. I’d stick to the high turnover items here. I paid in cash. I don’t think he accepts cc. I would also call in the order. With snow outside, parking is limited. It’s best to order ahead and do the double park and hope you don’t ruin people’s day.

Hole-in-the-wall deli that cooks meals that taste like you went over to your Filipino friend’s house. And that’s a good thing. Really straightforward Filipino cooking. They’re open breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We tried their dinner platters, charged about $ 7 each for a to-go box of rice, meat and two eggs over easy. Just enough food for one in each box. Wanted to try the lechon but was told they make it fresh — will call 30 mins ahead next time to try it. As for the food, it’s pretty good. We’re still looking for a contender that’s up to par with Mama Fina’s in Elmwood Park — still haven’t found one, but this is worlds better than Pandan in Bloomfield and at a much fairer price point. Don’t forget to specifically ask for garlic rice. We didn’t ask and we regretted it after reading the reviews! Get takeout — a couple of tables in the deli but the ambiance is lacking. Not that you’d come here for the atmosphere.

If you’re not paying attention while driving, it can be easy to miss this place. It’s right on the corner of Franklin and Berkeley – it has a faded red owning and a «We Sell Lechon» sign outside. There is no parking lot, only side street parking that’s shared with nearby homes and neighboring businesses. R&L Coffee Shop and Deli offers both traditional breakfasts and sandwiches(omelettes, eggs and Taylor ham, BLTs, chicken cutlet sandwiches, etc), along with a few Filipino dishes – pancit, lumpia, longsilog, tapsilog, tocilog, and corned beef-silog. There are a few snacks hanging on the front shelf you could also buy. — Tapsilog($ 6.55): I actually wanted Longsilog, but the owner said he is known for his tapa(dried marinated beef). In that case, I went with the tapsilog, which comes with garlic rice, two fried eggs cooked over-easy, and a generous serving of tapa. The beef was tender, seasoned well, and not too dry. It was sliced into chunks, so it’s easy to eat with your garlic rice. The garlic taste isn’t that strong in the rice, which is good if you’re here during lunch. — Tocilog($ 6.55): This was for someone else, but was able to try their tocino(cured marinated pork). Each chunk of tocino is much larger than what I am used to, which is great given how tender the pork was. If you’ve never had it before, tocino is usually softer than tapa. It is also sweet since it’s cured in a sugar-based marinade. I can tell this is homemade since the sweetness is light, unlike the frozen store-bought tocino. It was also cooked perfectly. This eatery is, as others mentioned, cluttered. There are boxes of junk all over the place, but the silogs I tried so far are authentic. There are only two tables and four counter seats. For the price and taste of the food, it’s a good place for a quick bite or take out.

It’s really not much to look at-we live down the block and didn’t get around to it until 8 mos after living here. It’s tiny and not much for ambiance, so if that’s what you’re looking for, go elsewhere. However-if you want a delicious, fast Filipino meal-you’ve come to the right place. My husband and I normally order and take out. I’ve only had the tapsilog but it’s sooo good! The garlic rice is delicious-the perfect balance of stickiness and the garlic is extremely subtle-it’s just white rice with a delicious texture. Over that, 2 no nonsense fried eggs. Simple but once it’s all mixed together, it’s just the perfect side to their deliciously seasoned and savory beef. Not tough, extremely savory and filling. The dish doesn’t seem like much but your taste buds will absolutely thank you.

Went there for a business meeting in the morning. Outside is unremarkable and indoor seating is basic and minimal. However, the owner is warm and very helpful with the menu when I announced it was my first visit. The place was clean and my egg-sausage sandwich was ‘real food’ as compared to those chain places, at a better price value in amount. If I have cause to meet in the area again, I’d go back and try the menu of it’s food specialties.

After reading the reviews on Unilocal several times I finally decided to give it a go. As the one review says its small and a little cluttered. It could be a great looking place with a little work being all the wood work from the 50’s are there including a old school soda fountain. But any how this is about the food. I had the corn beef with garlic rice and 2 eggs over easy and the person I was with had the pork with garlic rice with 2 eggs over eggs. Was hoping the food was as good as the reviews and it was The food didn’t disappoint and the pricing was also good two platters n 2 coffees 16 bucks The pork was similar to Chinese boneless ribs but only better more flavor and so much more tender. Will try this place again

Perfect –silog for the Pinoy missing a home cooked breakfast. I’m totally partial to longsilog which is 3 pieces of longonisa, garlic rice, two egg sunny side up, and tomato slices. So so so good! They also serve classic Filipino sodas like Sarsi and royal tru orange.

I’ve only tried one thing at this place and I was pleasantly surprised. I had the beef with white rice and an egg. Seems simple but the beef is very well flavored. My boyfriend tried the garlic rice and I was super jealous because it was amazing. Will def try this place out again! It looks a little sketchy when you enter but that really has never stopped me before :)

Absolutely amazing! I found this place looking on Unilocal for something«different» for lunch. Upon arrival it doesn’t look like a place with stellar food but trust and believe me it’s nothing short of amazing. I had the Tapsilog and it was full of flavor, the rice was cooked perfectly with a hint of garlic flavor, and the sunny side up egg yolk on top created almost like a sauce for the whole dish. The owner is a very nice guy and will explain anything to you so feel free to ask away. I recommend this place for anytime of the day if you’re looking for something«different» but sure to hit the spot!

WOW. JUSTWOW. I cannot believe what I’d been missing out the past 7 years I’ve lived in Bloomfield! This place is very easy to miss. It’s a very small deli located in a not-so-busy part of Bloomfield with a not-so-fancy interior. BUTDONOTJUDGE A BOOKBYITSCOVER. I walked in for the first time and told myself, «They can’t possibly serve food in this place.» And boy was it the best breakfast of my life. The food cannot get any more authentic! I tried the tapsilog, longsilog, and one more thing I don’t remember. Very inexpensive. They were all unbelievably AWESOME. I did not expect to be wowwed by a place like this. The male owner is a very nice gentleman. I just wish he’d be more friendly and welcoming to his patrons so I don’t feel quite awkward when eating here.

I’ve only ever had their breakfast sandwiches(just egg and cheese on a bagel or roll), but they’re pretty good. Homefries are good too. I’ve never tried their Filipino food, but maybe I will next time I need a quick lunch. The location is fantastic for me.
