Called for a firewood delivery. Was quoted a price, agreed, gave my credit card info and Segundo and a couple others stacked the wood beautifully. Gave tip and was very satisfied. However, a week later my card was charged a substantial amount. Called to inquire and the receptionist stated I was charged a «stacking fee.» I did not authorize it and it was calculated based on «time needed to stack the wood» after the fact. They did good work but pulled a fast one with the pricing. Not very professional. Would advise using O’Boyle with caution. I’m personally not satisfied but not a lot of people deliver wood door to door.

If I could give 0 stars to this operation, I would. I called in May for an estimate for two our front planting beds. We have bought firewood from them a few times — with mixed results — wood sometimes dry, sometimes wet, always dumped in the driveway by unhappy drivers. They came for the estimate when promised, said that they would have a written estimate and plan in about a week. About 2 weeks later, I called and inquired about status of the estimate, they said that they are running a little behind schedule. Ok, no problem. About a month later, the office called and said they are very behind, but would I still be interested in that estimate and plan. I said yes. They again said, they will have it for me in a week or two. Months later, no callback; nothing. A man’s word is his bond; this company has no such bond, loyalty or consideration. Perhaps they only want to grab the 10k and higher jobs (mine would have been half that or less).
This is one of the worst companies I have ever — well, not dealt with. Buyer beware.

This outfit is a total joke. They couldn’t tell me when they were coming for spring cleaning, sent a estimate to do more than what I asked for and then, when they finally came (three weeks later!), they didn’t do what I hired them for! When I called to complain they promised to call me back and never did. I waited three days after the promised day to call them and once again was promised a call back in a few minutes. Still waiting 8 hours later. DO NOT USE THESE CLOWNS!!!

So far so good. I’ve been using their weekly lawn maintenance service for a month and the do a good job. My yard is clean, hedges are trimmed, leaves cleared from the deck and walkways… I don’t know why the other reviewer complained about their dog being scared. I put my dogs in the house on the days that they come… That’s just common sense.

Great, if you like people chasing your pets off with leaf blowers.
These people are monsters.
I take care of an outdoor cat. O’boyle’s crew came and destroyed the cat’s entire environment. They made sure to knock over the food and water dishes, and blow one into the bushes. They made sure to untie and rip the tarp covering the cat’s house. They blew leaves, thorns and whatever else they could find into the box and then they even made sure to knock the door mat off my back porch and cover the cat’s entrance with it. They actually tried pretty hard to torment this poor animal. Maybe they should have spent as much effort cleaning the lawn.
The cat came back later in the day, terrified and covered in dust from the leaf blower experience.

They came and put sod down in our front yard, created mulch beds, put in trees, and did a big clean up. The men that did the work were extremely courteous, careful, and worked fast. They did exactly what we agreed upon for a fair price and it looks beautiful. Both Martin and his son stopped by to check in on the work and ensure everything was to my specifications.
The only thing stopping me from giving 5 stars is that I would have liked to have been given more than a day notice of when the work was scheduled to happen and it would have been nice to have been given written care instructions for the plantings.
I am very happy and will definitely be using them in the future.

This is a review about buying firewood from Martin O’Boyle Landscaping (MOL).
Right after Sandy, we were without power, so I called around Montclair and got rates on firewood. MOL gave a good quote, and dumped a ¼ cord in my driveway the next day. So far, so good.
Only problem, the wood doesn’t burn. Seems pretty obvious they sold me some very recently downed trees.
If I start a fire with good firewood, and throw some of this wood from MOL on top, the new wood will just smolder – even for an hour or two – but just end up a charred lump. In other words, it never catches fire.
I called back MOL. The receptionist assured me it was «seasoned» and that I was the only guy to ever make a complaint. Fair enough — but the wood doesn’t burn. Period.
So I was promised a call back from Martin.
Never called me back. That’s not good business.
It’s too much hassle now, so I’m just going store the wood until next year. And purchase my firewood from someone else in the future. I suggest that you do the same.
