My wife and I were there this past Sunday late around 1pm and did not recognize any staff members, as usual there was no mgmt presence anywhere, our server seemed bored and not really into it, mechanical only, who can’t do robotic service, no facial expression, no energy. We have been to this restaurant 50 times at least and the food is typically fine, though overpriced, still habits are not easy to break, we come probably 6 times a year though we would be here every week if service was even, enthusiastic and someone actually cared that we drove to the location, parked our car and chose it as a way of trying to enjoy a Sunday out though as my wife said, «no more». We are done with prententious service personnel who are simply walking robots without any care or concern to whether you come, come back or ever see them again, this place was not great under previous mgmt, though now it is far worse. What gives a business the right to show arrogance? So, no surprise, our waitperson took our ordered and disappeared, it was unbelieveable, we got our food though coffee refills no go, no Manager anywhere, what a waste of time and money, Best of luck, I strongly urge a meeting where you commit yourselves to hospitality for every one who graces your business or like West Bloomfield, this deli will be gone as well

I keep hoping that Deli Unique will get better. So far it hasn’t. This is no longer a Matt Prentice establishment and maybe this is why it seems like it is sliding. We always seem to go here for business lunches and as far as Deli’s go, this is not the top of the heap by any stretch of the imagination. The cuts of corned beef are not top quality, the pastrami is fatty and the sandwiches are not well constructed. I have tried salads and they too are uninspiring. I like The Stage for great New York Style Deli myself, but Deli Unique is just ho-hum IMO.

Wow! What a fabulous little breakfast spot tucked away in the hotel, but its separate. VERY reasonably priced breakfast brunch !! there are booths and tables to sit at, great for small or large parties. I got scrambled egg whites, hashbrowns, bacon and a bagel, so did one of my dining partners, the other got a western omelette with a bagel, it was all cooked to perfection !! exactly how we asked. The waitress was attentive with water, so that was cool. Our whole bill only cost $ 23! for 3 people ! who were full! lots of parking too!

For a hotel restaurant you can do a heck of a lot worse. Much better than a Dennys, but certainly not as good as the Original Pancake House or Toast just down the road. However, if you prefer more of a low key breakfast or need a quieter table for a morning business meeting this is probably the better option. Certainly has better parking!

I work near here and get 30 minutes for lunch, and very rarely go out or get takeout because there just isn’t a lot of time to do so. So on this rare occasion, a co-worker and I ordered from Unique. This place is in nestled between the Radisson and Northern Lakes Seafood restaurant — not an easy find if you’re just passing by on Woodward… but the outside entrance door is between the two. Parking is way the heck over on the other side of the seafood restaurant. Stepping in, there was a wonderful smell of garlic. The girl behind the counter said they were making croutons. The décor looked nicer than a typical stand-order-and-wait counter deli, and there appeared to be decent seating inside if you’d rather eat in. I pre-ordered some kind of «spa chicken» sandwich. It had marinated, sliced chicken breast with lettuce and onions on pumpernickel. I think there were tomatoes on there too, but I am a tomato-picker-offer, so I forgot. I have to say, the chicken breast was absolutely delicious. I was impressed that it was actual chicken breast sliced in thin chunks — not what I was expecting. I don’t even know what I was expecting, maybe processed«chicken meat», or a chicken breast not sliced I guess. The sandwich comes with no dressing, so I asked for mayo. For the price, I was not impressed with the size of the sandwich. My co-worker ordered the«Badda Boom, Badda Bing» sandwich and he, too, was not impressed with the size of the sandwich for the price — both sandwiches in the $ 9 range. The two pickle spears packed in wax paper in the bag did not ease the slight disappointment. Honorable mention to the menu, which was given to me by a co-worker and was therefore my decision to try the place. I enjoyed the little bits of humor. I’d go here again though!

Not too shabby. A deli with a counter to eat at is fine by me. The veggie sandwich was tasty and big, and only $ 6. And if you get hungry and have 2 sandwiches, you can take a food coma nap, because this is a hotel. Service was pretty quick. This is much better than the West Bloomfield location.

Deli Unique is located in the back of the Kingsley Radisson Hotel. The dining area is kind of awkward. I’ve only gotten a few things here, but I stick to them: 1. Turkey Reuben — decent, and they pile on a ton of real oven-roasted turkey. None of that processed deli meat crap. I usually don’t like to go overboard with condiments, but you’ll want to ask for extra Russian dressing on the side for this one. FYI, if you want sauerkraut AND cole slaw, they will end up putting kraut in the sandwich and giving you a side of cole slaw. 2. This one sandwich whose name escapes me right now. I think it had the word«spa» in the name. It’s on the«light» menu and contains turkey, avocado, cucumber, radishes, red onion(I get mine without), and Russian dressing. There’s less turkey than there would be on the regular sandwiches, but this is my favorite sandwich at Deli Unique. The combination of veggies is refreshing, tasty, and includes the wondrous fruit that is avocado. Plus, because the sandwich is slightly smaller, I totally have room for… 3. A side of french fries. They fry them a bit longer so they are nice and crisp. One time I received a plate of inch-long fries, which was annoying, but they still tasted good. 4. Chicken noodle soup. It’s homemade and hits the spot on a rainy or cold day. Service is no-nonsense and decent. The only time I was annoyed was when I had a coupon(10% off, I think; it came in the mail but I haven’t seen any recently). The server looked at the coupon as if it were a little UFO that had just landed on the table and then held it up and squinted at it and read the expiration date out loud. «EXPIRES… 11−1−2009… ANDTODAYIS… THE30TH… OH… FINE.» And then she reluctantly accepted my coupon.

I got the Matt Prentice’s Caesar salad and a Traditional Club sandwich. Both were superb! I like with all Matt Prentice restaurants you get portions that are what people are actually supposed to eat and you are not over filled. Everything is well cooked, nicely placed on the plates, and tastes very good, while having that good hometown Deli feel. Not too pricey and great to come as a stop to get something to eat for lunch while you are on your way to Birmingham or Royal Oak.

Went there for brunch on Saturday. The food and service were fine, okay, nothing special. Standard deli fare. The problem with the place is that it’s incredibly, can barely hear the person across the booth from you huh, what did you say, LOUD. There was a table of older women sitting next to us and the women were so boisterous that we could barely have a conversation. The place was busy and there were several full tables around us but it was ridiculous. Will not go back unless they fix the acoustics or ask the loud, laughing, rude women to simmer down.

I used to love going to this location of Deli Unique with my family. I now frequent the West Bloomfield location, but I’ll always save a place for Deli Unique Bloomfield Hills.
