History

Established in 1988.

Back in 1988, there were few computer companies offering an option to purchasing an expensive IBM PC, not to mention the parts to build /repair your own computer. Seeing a need for this Micro Air Computers was created in March of 1988 to give customers the ability to have a custom built computer that was better and cheaper than the pre-configured IBM PCs of that day. Initially, Micro Air was a one man small computer shop, (about 500 sq. foot) in Shillington, PA and after two decades of serving Reading and Berks County, and moving three time, we have grown to a four man 2,400 sq. foot shop in Blandon, PA. Our selection of inventory is greatly expanded to the point that we are one of the best stocked computer shops in the Reading area. Whether you are looking to replace a broken part or want to upgrade to the latest tech we stock it, or can get it.

Meet the Business Owner

Norman F.

Business Owner

Being brought up by a father that built his own synthesizer organ from scratch, including making his own springs for the keys, Norm was always interested in electronic gadgets. When he was old enough he joined the Western Electric Explorer Scouts and built his first volt meter. During this time, in the early ‘80s, computers were in their infancy and Norm took a liking to them. At thirteen he started programming and marketing his own computer programs. In high school, he attended Berks Vo-Tech West, now known as Berks Career and Technology Center where he is now an advisory board member, for data processing. This three year coarse he completed in just over two years and went out on coop to a local computer store as a technician for the remainder of his senior year. After graduation he wrote aviation software for DASH Group for three years and traveled globally to support it. In March of 1988 Micro Air was born.
