Scoop’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream Parlor

My friend lives in good old Blairsville and when we stopped by into the little old downtown area, I knew I wanted ice cream from Scoops! It’s cash only so bring some $$. Inside is like a hop back into time, very 1950’s. They had a lot of homemade flavor a. I went for a simple chocolate in a sugar cone. I scarfed down my ice cream before it melted in the hot August sun.
It’s a small business and be sure to check the hours as they do close early!

Stopped in in a Sunday evening — not from area — driving to nyc. LOVED this old fashion, nostalgic ice cream shoppe. Delicious ice cream, generous portions. You won’t be disappointed. Charming little town.

I really enjoyed this ice cream shop. It was beautifully decorated inside with old timey pictures, a 50s era juke box, and a 70s era soft drink dispenser (the kind with the door where you pull on the drink you want.)
The ice cream was also good. Everyone picked something different (there were four of us) and no one was disappointed with what they got.
The only problem I had was the serve staff seemed slightly put off by our indecisions in making choices from their copious menu. Other than that, I was pleasantly surprised and will be glad to return and give it a go once again.

What a fantastic little place!
After a long bike ride on the Ghost Town Trail, we decided to reward ourselves with ice cream. A quick internet search yielded a DQ and Scoops. No question, we were going to try the local ice cream shop!
As you walk in the door, you’re greeted by the owners who are happy to chat up the customers. The walls are covered in memorabilia from the 40’s and 50s and the counter was even recovered from a local diner that was open in the 1940s. But I think one of the best surprises is that they serve ice cream from The Berkey Creamery at Penn State. Sure, they could get ice cream from anywhere, but it’s nice to see that they have gone out of their way to serve premium products.
So let’s not stop there. Scoops not only has a dizzying amount of ice cream flavors; they also have every type of cone imaginable! Try and choose between the regular cake cone, sugar cone, waffle cone, or the pretzel cone.
If this is how businesses were back in the 1950’s, it’s no wonder the world was a better place!

I had no idea this place was here till a few weeks ago. What a wonderful discovery, a local place to get Penn State ice cream!
The service is very nice. The owner is there most of the time, full of laughter and jokes, and flavor choosing advice. They have a different «flavor of the week», as well as the usuals.

Just discovered Scoop’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream Parlor on West Market Street in Blairsville. Scooping Penn State’s creamery ice-​cream. Delicious! Saved us a 3 hour ride to State College. Very retro… step back in time. Worth the trip!
