I wouldn’t honestly care if these duty-free shops only sold dog food in a plastic bag at $ 300 each. Go here anyway. By doing so you will entirely bypass the horrible line at the border on days when the crossing is slow. The planners were kind enough to put the duty-free shops literally yards away from the border, so simply get in the right lane, drive to a duty-free shop, shop or don’t(doesn’t even matter) then jump back in the line way ahead of everybody else. It’s also a hilarious goodbye from our country; «shop with us and spend money, and you get to jump in front of everybody else.»

Very limited selection in terms of non-alcohol, which is still more than decent… but compare this to the Truck Border crossing for Canadian going south, now that’s a much better duty free, but I digress. I only drop by this one(heading north home) to get something, if the lineup is more than 45minutes long; spend $ 5 on some chocolates, and re-enter the line can be worth the time savings IF you can get some car to let you in, even if you waive your receipt out there lol. Unfortunately, no staff to let you in like the other one I mentioned, that’s why better. This store does surprisingly have a decent kids section, with crayons, stuffed animals and some basic toys on the left side. And a lot smaller store too.

I had unbelievably bad experience here Our close friend died and a group of us wanted to pay a special tribute to her by sharing a bottle of Dom Perignon. I called Pac Can Duty Free for their price. The vice president quoted me $ 134. The next day I went to purchase the bottle and they told me they got a new shipment in that day and the price was now $ 175…a $ 41 increase!!! I asked if they had any old stock and could honor the $ 134 price that I was quoted. They recalled my phone call, but said it was their policy to increase the price with the new shipment and there was nothing that could be done to help me or honor the price quote. This is an outrageous price gouge(referring to the old stock) and a dishonorable practise.

This is my review of the Pac Can Duty Free at the Pacific Highway/Truck Crossing border check — which is directly behind the Duty Free Americas near the border as you drive south in Canada. This is a companion review with As mentioned in my other duty-free review, I always take the border crossing at Pacific Highway since the Duty Free Americas there is 24 hours unlike the Peach Arch. You can easily walk between the DFA and the PCDF to compare prices. There’s the usual assortment of duty-free crap to be found here, but be sure to stock up on booze and tobacco products before entering Canada($ 90CAD/carton vs. $ 25USD/carton or $ 50CAD/750 mL of premium vodka vs. $ 32/1L of premium vodka). I ranked this duty-free lower since they charge Davidoff Magnums for $ 42/carton when DFA had them for $ 33/carton. Pretty big difference. The only reason I bought anything from them was because the DFA ran out of Goose/Belvedere, and I bought 1L bottles for $ 32 here. They also gave me a card where if I buy 5 bottles of booze from theme, the 6th bottle will be $ 10 off. I just have three more stamps to go!
