How this place even managed an average of 3.5 stars is beyond me. I ordered the ribeye steak with broccoli. The steak meh… an average cut, poorly seared and I could have easily done better at home. But more shameful was the broccoli. I received two sprigs on my plate… exactly two. So I asked my waiter for a bit more and he brought me a plate with just one more sprig. Was this a joke, what an insult! My partner ordered lobster and received a disappointing small and dried out piece. I know Black Forest is a Steak House, and WA isn’t known for lobster but there happens to be a boon of lobster for the past couple of years. Isn’t Blaine a coastal town? Is this not seafood country? If you’re going to offer lobster, than do it right. I’ve driven by this place a hundred times and curiosity got the best of me. To others I say, continue driving and don’t stop.

We read the reviews and thought this would be a good treat date, place looks like the classic steak houses we have been in over the years, once seated we went through the menu and choose their prime rib and chicken cordon blue, the prime rib was well done and I sent it back to the kitchen then the waiter comes back in a minute and says it looks really pink in the chicken so I cut into it and showed him no pink(I ordered med rare) so, back to the kitchen. In a min he is back with now a medium done cut, though not what I ordered this I say fine, the meat cut at best is choice, the dry aging(what brought me there in the first place) added little to no more task to the meat, sides were good. My wife’s cordon blue was also very dry, the cheese sauce was actually two pieces of cut cheese thrown on top of three pieces ham, very disappointing!

Great steaks here, I usually get the petite filet blackened. Always cooked to my liking(medium). Service is good even when they are busy. We prefer to eat in the bar, restaurant can gets little loud. Décor is great love the old building. You need to give this place a try!

Everything was wonderful. Scallops, Prime rib, Filet Mignon… juicy tender flavorful! Waitor was knowledgeable and attentive.

For a place that boasts about its dry-aged beef they sure have a long way to go before they can stand up to the likes of places like Manny’s Steak House(Minneapolis MN) or even 13 Coins(Seattle). The strip steak was stringy, tough, and pretty much tasteless and the waiter even lectured me about how they respect their steaks and thus they have no steak sauce. Well, they needed some steak sauce tonight for sure! My wife had the German Food which was good and what I’ll order if I come back.

I’ve been driving past this place for almost a year and had some free time today so decided to stop in for dinner. Décor was nice, blend of German n rustic with a comfortable atmosphere. Place was deserted with the exception of a few locals. After reviewing the menu i decided on a steak and was completely blown away. I’ve had every cut of steak you can imagine in a number of costlier restaurants and i must say it was amazing. Meat was tender without that freezer flare to it. Veggies were fresh and cooked properly, presentation was simple and classy and the cook actually knew how to prepare a medium-rare the right way(no cold/cool) center. All in all i did not expect this type of food quality from Blaine! If your in the area do yourself a favor and stop in.

Tried this joint again last week. They had a «special» of steak and lobster for $ 29.95. We are seniors and, therefor, eat less than most folks. We wanted to split the«special» and were told, in somewhat of a demeaning way, «you can’t split the special». «You must order the „regular“ steak and lobster for $ 55.99». Folded our napkins and left. Will not go back. I don’t understand why they will not split anything. We would have had a bottle of wine, an extra salad and desert. Their loss. Went to Browns Social House in Tsawwassen, BC, had a wonderful dinner for less money.

I ate here with my parents in June. The food was fantastic, and our server was great. His wine recommendation went perfectly with my lobster dinner. The dinner special was such a great price, it was a must! Enjoyed immensely.

Got to restaurant about 640 pm as a walk in. Told it may take a couple of minute to be seated. Two minutes later we are sitting. Waiter takes our drink orders and says he has to finish up a big table then will be back. 15 minutes later he takes out food order. 1 hour later he state the machine missed our order but he had put it in now and rushed it. 45 minute later we say just let us pay for the drinks and we will eat somewhere else. Waiter says our meals are being plated as we speak. 25 minutes later our food arrives. I ordered a steak and lobster with bake potato. I get a carpet steak and lobster with pan fried potatoes and green beans that were brown and wrinkles. Same story around the table for the other orders no mashed potatoes or baked on any plates only pan fried and all were cold. The beans all look horrible plus they were cold. The steaks were tiny for what they were suppose to be. We asked about the potato issue and were told the were out of any others so that would have to do. At this point we stated would pay for the drinks and salads we had had but this meal was not acceptable and it was 2 ½ hours in the making Waiter went to get manager /owner Jack himself. Jack gets to the table and says«so you are going to make me eat $ 160.00 worth of food» We say this is not what we ordered and its all cold. We will pay for what we have had but these meals are again not what we ordered and stone cold” His response was«That mighty nice of you to offer to pay for what you have had» in a very sarcastic tone. He takes the meals away then comes back to the table. We all thought he was coming back to say sorry for the mix up and nix the bill but no. Jack gets right in my face and says” I do not want to see your face in my restaurant ever again you are banned for life” I go «Are you kidding me» to which he says«Oh tipical redneck raising his voice and that he was calling the police on me» I am far from a redneck and was very insulted by this. My voice now got louder as I explain what just happen to the rest of the restaurant. We pay the waiter for our drinks plus we tip him and got up to leave. On the way out the waiter told us he had never been so embarrassed in his 35 years of waiting tables. We left with Jack following us out to get our plate number off the vehicle. We ended up at Bobs Buger and Brew. There we had a great time and meals serviced to us in less than 20 minutes. Bonus too we get what we ordered. Still no police at my door for whatever Jack thinks we did wrong. I would not suggest either the Jack Nieman Steak house or CJ Beach house in Blaine as a dinning experience as they are both over price and owned by Jack. Very poor meals, service and atmosphere at both places. can you give a place negative stars.

Been here twice. It is in Blaine WA by the Semiahmoo resort. Similar issues both times. First time, my wife and I had the steak and lobster special for our 12th wedding anniversary. The lobster was rubbery, the green beans and potatoes room temperature, and in general the meal was three stars at best. The second time was with my Mom. Same deal, but this time the bread showed up after instead of before our entrées. Disappointing because we were both quite hungry and would have appreciated some bread to snack on while waiting for our meals. Same grey curly haired manager both times. I wasn’t going to say anything while my Mom was at the table. When she left to use the ladies room, I asked the manager over. Told him about the bread, the room temperature dishes, etc. His response was well if you’d told me while you were eating I would have fixed it. No apology, no acknowledgement, insteam he made this my fault because I would not risk spoiling my Mom’s adventure. Then he just walked away. The I will not return and will tell my friends not to go to the Black Forrest. Indeed, next time I go to Semiahmoo resort, I think I’ll have a chat with concierge so that the resort can set guests’ expectations. BTW, I live in Blaine.

I am a huge fan of Black Forest steakhouse in Everson. Now, this lacks the seasoned grill of everson, the charm that only a place with that much history can have — but what they do have is the menu. We have now come for dinner a few times, once we sat in the bar and once in the restaurant. The service was friendly and fast(especially considering one evening they had a party of over 12 that ordered right before us) and my steaks are always cooked PERFECTLY. That is a huge deal to me. I ask for Medium rare and damn if I don’t always get a medium well everywhere else. Not here, here I get what I ask for. I have had the logger steak(a sirloin with mushrooms and onions) and the tenderloin. My husband had the steak and lobster one night, and the Bavarian platter another. All were delicious, and the Bavarian platter was HUGE. We also have had the crab cakes and the goulash, all well worth it. We will visit again, it is now our go-to«local» dinner night out. While I still prefer the Everson location, this certainly hits the spot.

We were not disappointed in our food or service. Unique atmosphere and menu more German than I realized but we were there for the meat. The filet mignon Oskar was melt in your mouth delicious and my husband’s ribeye was delicious. Our server was fantastic.

Such a secret place, to my knowledge Blaine has never been known as having a go-to fine dining place — but the Black Forest Steak House changes that. Great ambiance, along the lines of The Keg; a specialized beef menu that has various entrée options that fits most budgets; great soups — an excellent goulash soup was my option, French onion for others, all were at the top of the flavour game; a very well balanced wine list that had decent wines for all budgets, and discerning wine enthusiasts. Nitty gritty: the 10oz NY strip — as good as it gets! The shared taste steak was the very best; easily in the top 3 I’ve ever had: fork cutting tender, great seasoning and flavour, cooked to perfection. My Schnitzel Oscar — nice presentation, and pleasantly good, but definitely not the star that the NY was. The wine, an affordable bottle of Argentinian malbec, paired perfectly with both soups, and the steak, but no so much with the Schnitzel. On balance a most memorable dining experience, and one that I will repeat soon. If there’s anything that needed improvement it would be the service, friendly and knowledgeable enough, but often absent when needed even though the place was not that busy on a dark and stormy night — the difference between a four, or five star experience.

Unquestionably the best steakhouse in the region. Blaine is blessed to have this gem. Hand picked dry aged Omaha beef in on premises aging room. Carpet bagger steak ny strip stuffed w crab and hollandaise and u don’t need a knife. Great bar staff. If u r wanting to just dip your toe in sit in the bar and order off the bar menu. The bar steak and the crab cakes are reasonably priced and delicious. The goulash is also excellent. My only complaint is that they got rid of the topenad which was to die for.

The food was great. The service could have been a little better. We had the French onion soup which was great. The dry aged steaks are definitely something to try. Overall happy with a good local steakhouse. I would appreciate some different microbrew options or using more local breweries such as Wander.

Excellent good and service. Best in the area. Highly recommended. The ambiance is very good also. We had a steak and lobster special, the steak perfect medium rare, the lobster tender. We also shared German breaded chicken covered with a wonderful mushroom gravey. The house made spatzel was great.

One word: prime-rib-steak-sides. Okay, that’s technically not one word. But, I’m okay with that. This place isn’t perfect, as it is a little dark inside and the parking outside isn’t great either. But, the beef. Oooh the beef. We had a steak last time and it was magical. Tonight we had the prime rib and it was just as good. Sex on a plate that you enjoy with a knife and fork. Our server, Troy, took great care of us, and after our main course the owner came out to talk with us. He wanted to make sure it was to our satisfaction. I’ll say this: great steaks are not easy to make. They have to be tender, flavourful, cooked just right, and at a reasonable price. They’ve done it here. Twice in a row. It isn’t a fluke. They have this restaurant under control. It is near perfect as parking is out of their control. The lighting is deliberate to set a romantic mood, it is only my preference to have it brighter. If it means anything to those reading this: I’ll be coming back here. I’ll be bringing family and friends. I want this place to be successful because it is my new favorite place for steaks. (I have to drive across the border to get here and it is worth it)

This is where I have finally eaten good lobster, I apparently never had good lobster until I had this, the texture was more like mashed potatoes than shrimp, which it always is cooked like, also had a steak which was perfectly cooked one of the most tender filet I’ve ever had. top 5 steakhouse in my book.

I had a great tender prime rib and my wife had the bacon wrapped filet mignon. Ignore the other reviews by people who are pretensious. There is only a choice of green beans or creamed spinach. No substitutions, because that is what they have. Our waiter was attentive and helpful. The red pepper mashed potatoes was very good too. We did save room for desert. Most of the deserts are made in house. The bread pudding was served hot with a carmel sauce. Very good.

3.5STARS I often visit Blaine because our company has an office there. Considering the size of the town I actually think the food options are decent. I really like the Mexican restaurant in town and was excited to try out this place because it’s new, modern and I’d heard good things. Four of us visited for an early dinner after work and all four of us really enjoyed the meal. Just based on that I had to give this place 3.5 stars. The total bill was about $ 110 which included alcoholic drinks, steaks, and desserts, this seemed like a very good deal to me(we didn’t do the happy hour thing, maybe next time). My co-workers all had steaks. They looked pretty good and all said they were cooked perfectly to their liking. One BIG detractor is that there are no substitutions. So if you wanted to sub a healthier side with your entrée, you couldn’t, not even for an extra charge. This makes NOSENSE. The waiter said«it even says on the menu»(like that makes it OK). I had the Jäger Schnitzel, which was very good, the sauce they put on it was among the best I’ve had. The side of veggies was a bit lackluster, greenbeans and a cherry tomato. They have a number of deserts, some are made in house and some are not(I forget which was which). I had the mud pie which I felt was average(pretty hard to mess up an ice cream pie, especially when they just but it at the store). Anyways I’m sure I will be back, maybe try out happy hour.
