History

Established in 2003.

The Birch Bay Hostel has been a project of the Birch Bay Lions since 2003. The hostel is a fundraiser with proceeds going to sight and hearing programs, camp horizon and other community projects.

The building was once the officers quarters of the Blaine Air Force Station for Radar Defense and Communications.

The Air Force station was converted into a park — 68 acres which also accommodates Camp Horizon, a special needs camp, new childrens playground, refurbished gym, walking trails and wildlife viewing.

The hostel is open 12 months of the year.
