At Sage To Summit, we specialize in mountain running and shoe fitting. If you are just getting into running, an avid runner, or just looking for a pair of shoes that feel good on your feet, we are your store. We have extensive knowledge in shoe fitting to get you comfortable if you’re on your feet all day at work or on a long distance run.

History

Established in 2006.

Sage to Summit started as a passion for the mountains and an endorphin rush. In 2006, the pieces came together and the running store, focused on trail running, was born in its original location, one block off of main street in Bishop, California. The name was conceived during an 8000 foot backcountry ski descent of a nearby local peak — a journey from sage to summit and back. In 2009, the shop moved to a bigger and better location on main street where we are now located. The dream is still young, but every day we get closer to our ideal. We aim to provide you with the best products and service that you will ever take to the mountains!

Finally visited Sage To Summit for my first time. Very well put together outdoors store. Staff were very knowledgable which is always a huge plus! These guys have a small but awesome selection of clothing as well as other outdoor fitness items!(found right away what I was looking for!).

Bought a foam roller over there the other morning; have purchased socks, boots, etc. Essentially, you can’t find better in the Eastern Sierra Nevada if you’re looking for exceptionally knowledgeable staff to consort with regarding fastpacking/​trail running and basic performance footwear. Karen et al got it goin’ on. Sweet casual wear, too.

I live in Bishop and am a dilettante runner at best. Still, I get my shoes at Sage to Summit as Karen has solved the problem of what shoes to get for my very hard-​to-​fit feet. I need something comfortable for long standing days at work, walking, hiking and competitive dog agility. Karen knew just what brand and style to recommend … I put the shoes on and my feet felt more comfortable than they had for years! I’ve since been back for several more pair. I’ve also enjoyed shopping their selection of cute casual clothing and accessories. I’m definitely a satisfied and loyal customer of Sage to Summit!

These guys know what they do! They are athlets, specialized, self experienced sales people who know the Sierras better than almost anyone, good prices and great selection for almost any outdoor activity in the Sierras. They’re always happy to answer questions and help you find the right gear.
Their strength is distance running and fast packing. First thing that caughts my attention is always that friendly and happy smile, make you want to shop :)
Make sure you stop there on your way to anywhere. Sage to Summit rocks!

This is by far the best running/​mountain outfitting shop I’ve ever been to. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Being from out of the area I’ve called and talked, in detail, about planning trail run routes on my visits to the Sierras. They never act annoyed or rushed and are glad to help. I stop in whenever I’m going through town and shop their website from home. Their website has an awesome section of various trail runs throughout the Sierras. I give them my business even when I may be able to get products a few bucks cheaper at a giant online retailer because it’s small, family run businesses like Sage To Summit who’s passion for the mountains keep me stoked to get out there.

My friends and I went into Sage to Summit last night while walking by and there was a small crew of people doing a tasting of Pat’s backcountry beer kit. We got there at the end and the owner redid the demo and tasting just for us!
Today I hit up the local spots in search of a new sleeping bag. Karen was extremely helpful and offered the lightest weight bag at the best price. She also sold me her own down jacket because I was in a pickle. Above and beyond customer care!
The gear at this store is in general UL and technical. It’s all top of the line and in the forefront of backpacking and climbing gear. It’s fun and the staff is great!

I’ve wanted to visit your store since January, when I decided to run the Ultra there, May 17th. Finally made it, today, as I prepped for my pre-​run.
Just wanted to say «thank you» for your employee, JEFF. I came into the store so excited! He did not dampen my spirit one bit. He let me look at everything without any pushy hassles. Loved that. I did buy what I needed and he gave great advise and encouragement for the race.
Thanks for a great shop. I feel absolutely no need to shop anywhere else in Bishop for my running needs.
