Believe it or not, this was a sight for sore eyes. Other than the JC Penney’s(which sadly, I didn’t get a chance to visit because they were closed), it’s the only other department store in Bishop. And only one with reasonable prices, and that is big. We stopped in to get some extra winter gear and you would think the one main item would’ve been snow chains right? Lol, my husband was tired, grouchy from the long drive & pretty insistent on waiting till we got up to Mammoth. Yup, even I knew better — but I’m not going to argue with sleepy, grouchy meanie who incidentally made this possible as a surprise & last minute Christmas present. But yeah, coulda, shoulda, woulda. He knows. Anyhow… It was big, but not entirely cheap. Didn’t get to check out the entire store, granted we were there really late at night. But they had pretty one would need if they’re unprepared for the weather conditions. And if your a 49er fan(like yours truly) Yippee! They had fan gear. Just not my size in jersey :(It’s cool. My only pet peeve was the check out line was incredibly slow, for being that there was only 10 people in the entire store at that time. But it’s Kmart. I’d go back if I’m out there.

The only reason I gave this kmart 2 stars is because the store is clean. The staff is very rude and not very helpful. I went in to purchase a video game for my daughter. The guy in the electronics department said we stopped selling games 3 years ago. If you want good service don’t go here…

It’s pretty bad when K-Mart is your only option for reasonably priced things and they either don’t have the one you want, or don’t have it at all. It’s also always unorganized, with things all over the place and the shelving is always a mess, and their is always trash all over the place. The only reason I’m not giving one star is because, while half of the staff acts like they’re still in high school, the other half is pretty nice.

When in Bishop or surrounding areas this Kmart is about all you have for reasonably priced necessities for the trip or daily life. We’ve been here a few times in past with less than welcoming customer service(they know your a tourist). We understand its Kmart and the price is right and they always have what you need. That being said our latest trip was a bit alarming. Upon my wife’s review of the receipt after leaving the store she noticed we were charged for a gift card that we never intended on purchasing or received. my wife went back into the store to speak with Management. Management was more than accommodating giving us our gift card out the trash can I would assume because it was folded and crumbled up. Still no explanation of why were charged for something we didnt intend on buying his response was hey it’s $ 10 off. Letting us know that there was a procedure mix up with the checkers. UH Huh… My advice is check your receipt if you visit the area this store, is the only large chain to get necessities so more than likely you will end up here…

The employees were all pleasant and helpful but we were looking for three specific things and they didn’t have any of them. The electronics section is in shambles and there is empty shelf space everywhere. The things we were looking for were all out of stock. The bare and empty shelves spoke volumes regarding the current state of Kmarts across the country. Would have given it one star but the employees were tops.

We are not at all impressed with Bishop Kmart. Shelves are empty, most items we come in looking for are out of stock. The electronics section is terrible with a near non-existent selection of PS games and consoles. The toy department carries next to no Legos, leaving the shelves where they should be empty. We had high hopes when both Kmart and Vons moved into their new buildings years ago. Vons has done an excellent job maintaining a clean well stocked establishment, Kmart falls far short. The two stores are night and day in comparison and the common customer would be surprised that the buildings are the same age. Customer service is one plus at Bishop Kmart, we have always had fast and friendly service.

Nicest kmart I’ve ever been to. Pretty upscale. Very clean. Customer service was good. Selection of items was great. The store is huge… The biggest I’ve been to. Bishop is lucky, for the size of the town, to have a discount retailer like this.

Was up here for a wedding on the 28th. Went in for a camera cable, jackass with the big tattoo on his neck working in electronics hits shoulders with me. He then has a bad attitude when I ask him where to find the cable. After I check out I’m still being nice to this loser and I say«thanks have a good night» he responds with yup and rolls his eyes. YUP? F’ing seriously dude? Your lucky this vet didn’t knife hand your punk ass in the throat.

Oh, K-mart. I have so many funny memories inside this store(thanks to my ridiculous, I mean, amazing friends). We’ve had people buy make-up en route to Mammoth(huh?!), get beer before floating, puke inside from sun poisoning after floating, and all sorts of other bizarre happenings. The prices are great, and you really can’t complain. You’re in Bishop, in the middle of nowhere, so to have a fully-stocked and inexpensive store like this is a true blessing(please don’t get started about mom ‘n pop shops and the attack of big-box stores… see the forest for the trees for a sec). There is a hysterical sign inside the employee lounge(I ended up in there once when my friend was ill, and the regular washrooms were out of service). See photos. Do you have ESP?! Ahaha. intelligence. +1 Kmart. +1.

Aaaaany college student should know the virtues of kmart. ANYONE who’s become unemployed, will know the value of service at a good price. The Bishop, CA, KMART store is service @ a great price. I was stumbling around, looking rather cocky + calm + collected, and being my typical idiot self, which makes me GF laugh. A store clerk saw me, grabbed me by the arm and led me to the sports counter. my GF was nearly in hysterics at this point. Anyway, I asked some questions, something like«Gopiqrcu, iofuewhvcn and ewriuyoq29»… I sounded like I had marshmallows in my mouth, and he COMpletely understood that I needed a replacement fishing license for the one I lost. (Sometimes my GF thinks I stage these interactions just to amuze an otherwise BORED store-clerk. And, she’s right) The store clerk not only understood my marshmallow-dialogue, he was able to set me up in 3 minutes. I asked him in English where his secret fishing holes were, since I was out of the area. he laughed and refused. dammit! ok. moral of the story — I’ll be back. maybe not for fishing secrets, but for simple service at a great price.
