Best Facial!!! This review is long overdue. I bought a facial via Living Social so it was reasonably priced. I have to say that Suzanne gave me the best facial I have ever had. My face has never felt better. I love their products, and my facial, but have not been back since my initial visit due to the cost. I’d recommend getting on their email list as they do offer specials regularly. I’m promising myself I’m going back soon. Sandra was running the front desk when I was there. Both she and Suzanne were very welcoming. I highly recommend! The only reason for the 4 stars is the price.

Had a great mani/​pedi today. Have never had the hot stones incorporated into the massage part. It was very relaxing. The products they used were all natural and organic. They had a great natural herbal scent and I loved it. I loved the copper basin and didn’t miss the massaging chair from a typical nail salon.
The music was very soft and relaxing. The staff was very friendly and inviting. They introduced themselves and explained there services. I’m looking forward to getting a massage and facial very soon.
I gave them a ⁴⁄₅ stars based on limited parking and limited color selection for polish. I understand the nail polish was 100% vegan and a safer, better product so that could be the reason for the limited selection. I did find a color I love so it wasn’t a huge problem.

I love Suzanne and Sandra. They are warmest, nicest people I have ever dealt with in a spa. I have never been pressured to purchase anything and I have received emails and text messages with specials.
I have also never been pressured to leave a certain gratuity. I also like that I can leave the gratuity on my credit card which many places do not let you do.
When I compare the treatment and service I get during a facial I feel that I am getting a good value. For me this is a splurge and I try to go when a special is being offered. Sandra does many more steps during facial then any other place I have been.
I love their new location. It feels like a sanctuary when you come down the stairs. The parking can’t be beat.
I recommend Truth Beauty and Wellness without reservation. Try them, you will be happy you did.

Long time former customer. I went here for about a year maybe 1 ½. Came about 10 – 15 times. Got to experience the massage, mani pedi, and facial. I have also gotten to know the people here very well. I also was present for the change in location they had.
So about the new location, I actually like it. Its downstairs and its quiet. They have more space and they make it work. When you enter its confusing because it looks industrial but downstairs it is very appropriate.
I used to get massages from Gwen and she was great. She would give me Deep tissue and really had great hands. Her ability to find points appropriately and put the right pressure was great. Sandra is fantastic at facials but sometimes thought that too much mist or hot towels were used. My face would feel great and look great. The mani pedi service was dependent on who was there so i can’t speak confidently about that.
Suzanne is manage and owner of the operation and she is quite nice. She is easy to work with and responsive. The entire staff is incredibly knowledgeable and accommodating. They do offer email deals to members which is a must so ask to be placed on their email list. I took my girlfriend here for a spa day and it was fantastic. Romantic, relaxing, and all encompassing. I sadly stopped going because I couldn’t afford it as it does cost a good amount. But if i’m ever in the mood for a romantic evening this is where i would go.

Sandra and Suzanne are phenomenal. You will not only receive excellent service, but a full education on how to care for your skin and body.
I found Truth using Groupon years ago and was extremely happy with my first experience. You are treated like a true friend from the moment you walk in the door. I used to suffer from terrible cystic acne. Sandra completely saved my skin and restored my sense of self esteem.
She is absolutely lovely and a total angel. She also taught me priceless information about skincare for which I am truly grateful.
This spa is pricey, but the owners are willing to work with you on payments. They are generous, sweet, and genuine women.
I moved away from the area about a year ago and rarely get to visit now. I have yet to find a place that has positively impacted me as much as Truth. Gratitude and love to Sandra and Suzanne. :)

I held off writing this review for some time because I was torn. I was a loyal Truth customer for quite some time and had fantastic facials from Sandra time after time. However, the main reason I stopped going was the price. $ 150 for a facial just seems outrageous, we are not in NYC, we are in metro Detroit. I realize they use natural products but I’ve done my research and the products are not that costly that thy have to charge so much. My biggest issue is the spas 18% gratuity policy. I found it rather tacky when I saw it posted all over inside as well as in all their emails. I am very familiar with this business as I have family who work in it and it is not customary to tip a business owner, because simply put it is their business! A customer should have the option to tip based on the quality of their service. So rather than fork out close to $ 200 every time I need a facial, I’ve found somewhere else more reasonable with just as good quality products. I do enjoy the people at Truth, especially Sandra, but I can’t break the bank.

Great hidden gem in Birmingham! Went with my sister today to take advantage of the great Groupon deal for a hot stone mani/​pedi and what a pleasant surprise it was!
What sets this spa apart from the rest is that everything is natural and organic. It is a completely different spa unlike any other. Our tech was so thoughtful, professional, and detailed oriented. She ensured that both my sister and I were well taken care of. The staff were courteous, the ambiance was peaceful, and our overall experience was fantastic.
If you’re looking for a normal average place with the usual cheap leather vibrating chairs, fast service, strong chemical smells, and impersonal care, this place isn’t for you. But if you’re looking for something unique, relaxing, quaint, and natural, look no further. Truth Beauty & Wellness Spa is for you!

Not high end. It took the staff 15 mins chatting before I was acknowledge for my appt. We sat in arm chairs and soaked our feet in Luke warm copper tubs for a pedicure.

I’m writing to update my review. I came back in September for a massage with Gwen that was very nice. My Groupon was honored by the spa. I have upgraded my rating.
I came in for the hot stone manicure/​pedicure in ⁷⁄₁₂. I was offered water, but was surprised to hear it being drawn directly from the tap. There was no tea or coffee offered or out that I could see. Most if not all spa’s have tea/​coffee/​ice water in a jug.
I had originally purchased a groupon for a massage at this spa, and I thought my husband purchased a pedicure but he actually forgot to do this. I mentioned this to them, that my husband forgot to purchase the deal, and they said they would give me a discount on my mani/​pedi. As I was paying though, they said any future groupons would not be honored So I guess I will be out the money I paid for my massage.
Now on to the pedicure with Alla. It was in a private room, and I was the only one there which was nice, it was quiet. But some things were missing, like no reclining chair, warm neck roll, no salt/​sugar scrub, hot towels for the feet. She was also rough with the nail file and actually dug into my cuticles to the point where it hurt and I had to tell her to stop. She also used nippers on me, which I have not experienced before in a salon, which made me nervous. I did enjoy the hot stones and the massage on my feet and legs. Overall, it was not that special, and even worth the discounted price I paid.

This review is simply about the process of making my appointment to use my Groupon. I called on Monday and was called back on Tuesday. That’s worth four stars — good response time.
Even though their message says they are open Tuesday through Saturday, appointments to use the Groupon are not available on Tuesdays. That’s a bummer, because I like Tuesdays. Oh well.
So, I make the appointment for a Thursday later in the month, and the woman who answers the phone tells me that they will be charging me an 18% gratuity on the full price of the service. I’m pretty pissed at ANY service provider who would dare to decide how good my experience is before I even have it. So, minus two stars for being tacky and classless, before I’ve even had my experience.
And then the receptionist tells me this is all in the language of the Groupon, which I’m afraid I’m not seeing. So, for now, they keep the second star, while I wait for Groupon to confirm.
Bottom line: Don’t treat your customers like cheapskates before you’ve even met them if you want them to become repeat customers. Grr. I’ll amend this review based on the actual experience I have while I’m there.
Update: Groupon apparently asked them about this gratuity. They refused to budge. I asked for a refund. Five stars for Groupon. One star for the spa.

I went to get a ‘relaxation massage’ and it was anything but relaxing. It was jerky and awkward, I got scratched by the massage therapist’s nails, when she massaged my arms she jabbed me in the neck, when she massaged my chest I ended up being strangled by the blanket, when I was laying on my front there was no breathing hole in the massage table so I could hardly breath and you can hear everything that is going on in the spa– the bathroom is literally next door to the massage room. This did not feel professional at ALL. For the cost and the poor service this place is ridiculous.

Today I went to Truth Beauty & Wellness Spa to redeem a mani/​pedi Groupon that I purchased a few months ago. The experience was everything I could have asked for and then some! Easily the best mani/​pedi I have ever had– and its a rare day that I walk around with bare nails.
Located in Birmingham just down the street from The Reserve, there is plenty of parking and it’s not hard to spot. The décor is chic and not at all overwhelming for the small-​ish space that it occupies.
The spa is quiet, intimate, and inviting with Italian operatic music playing softly. The staff is beyond professional. Alla did my mani/​pedi and I will recommend her to all of my friends. Her attention to detail is amazing. She is polite and complimentary. I have to admit, I’m not a fan of chatty manicurists, and Alla let me sit and enjoy the music and just _​relax_​. If I offered information, she responded in kind– and that was it. Perfect. That’s my personal preference and I could not have been happier.
All of their products are organic. My polish was vegan which meant that I didn’t leave with a raging headache (because there were no fumes).
When I checked out, they let me know about all of the deals and discounts available for return customers, without putting on the full-​court press. I have my services brochure and I will absolutely be back.

I went here last Saturday with a friend, she receive a gift certificate for her birthday and we wanted to try the place out. It’s a small full service spa that’s run by 2 sisters and it’s just so fantastic.
When you first walk in they take you coats and the waiting area feels like sitting in a close friend’s living room. the music is interesting but relaxing. It just had a wonderful feeling right off the bat.
I had the facial given to me by Sandra, and she’s a goddess. It was the most amazing facial I’ve every had because she explained everything she was putting on my skin and catered the facial to my needs. Also, she had some great suggestions and even gave me some samples to take home. They use they own skin line and everything is organic. It’s a little pricey but you can’t put a price on healthy-​looking skin. My friend had a mani and pedi and she said her feet have never been so soft.
If you want to pamper yourself, this is the place to go.

My husband and i spent our anniversary here getting pampered. It was amazing! I had a facial and though it was my first so i can’t compare it to anything else, it was great and i felt more relaxed than if i had just had sex. Next i had a pedicure and manicure. I almost fell asleep during the pedicure so i know it was good! My toes look like a million bucks so that speaks for itself right there. Alla who does the pedicures and manicure has such a gentle hand and she is so precise! I don’t think I’ve had a more thorough manicure.
My husband had a massage and i have to say he is usually complaining about every massage he gets. either it was too soft or they focus on the wrong spot for too long or they had pointy hands and it hurt… always he has a complaint… He LOVED his massage, he didn’t have one complaint! for that i would give Truth 20 stars if i could!
I highly recommend this spa! from the second you walk in the door you feel like you are going to be taken really great care of and they deliver!
I’m not in Michigan often, but next time i’m there i’m definitely going to stop in for another facial or massage.

I was given a gift certificate to Truth Spa & Salon and finally got around to using it. I have since thanked the person who purchased it for me a million times over! I really enjoyed the day of relaxation. I opted for a sea weed bath, manicure and pedicure and a facial. Wooooo! Whooooo! I left feeling like a million bucks. I enjoyed the seaweed bath the most. It lasted for an hour and my skin has never felt softer. The spa tub is in a room that is dimly lit and has soft music playing. Imagine soaking, stress free, for an entire hour. The staff was extremely courteous and professional. Much attention is paid to the details that may be sometime uncomfortable to ask about. Such as whether or not you should keep your under garments on in the tub or when is the appropriate time for the attendant to enter the room. Everything is explained thoroughly not leaving you to guess. Which made the transition from entering the spa to indulging in it seamless. A perfect way to spend the afternoon! They also offer couple packages!
