Silverback Moving & Storage was founded in 2008 by Cameron Schea, a young entrepreneur from Birmingham, Michigan. Today, the Silverback organization has grown into one of the most respected names in the home /residential moving industry and the «go to» source for local and national businesses when the need arises.

I will second other negative reviews here. I give one star for the niceness of the movers. They took 8 hours to move all of the furniture in my 1000 sq ft house. The gentlemen who moved us were very nice and polite, but their policy is to have one person work on the truck and the other take the items in. Needless to say that takes forever. We ended up paying them for an 8 hour move what should have taken 3 – 4 hours. They also broke my couch and my bookcase. I sent pictures in as requested and called several times. It’s been well over two weeks and no one has returned my calls and the secretary refused to tell me when someone would return my call. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of paying in cash to avoid the 3% credit card surcharge. If they don’t return my calls, I will be filing a small claims suit and a police report for property damage.

Silverback handled my move from Milan, MI to Royal Oak, MI yesterday and it could not have gone more smoothly. Mike, Joe, and David were professional, talented, and genuinely nice people. It was a pleasure hanging out with them while they were working. Even though they are paid hourly, they worked consistently and did not try to drag out the time for the move. They completed our move in 8 hours, including roughly a 1.5 drive due to weather and traffic jams. Given the fact that the stairs in the new townhouse are very narrow, I am extremely impressed with their ability to get our large items up to the third floor and around some corners.
The only minor stumble was that there is a 5% charge for using a credit card that I don’t recall being told about (but I could be wrong), but considering the relatively small dollar amount, I really cannot complain.
I would absolutely recommend Silverback, especially this specific crew, and plan to use them whenever I move again in the future.

After reading the reviews, we figured the bad ones were based on people that didn’t really know the business. Obviously if you need additional packing materials or have obscure items (i.e. a piano), you are going to be charged accordingly.
Based on the information we gave them, the pricing is fair. The two guys who came to move us were friendly and helpful. If you need additional packing supplies, they come prepared. It was freezing outside and they worked their butts off. Jason was fantastic, Mario was clearly there for the paycheck.
We were very specific about the care of our couch. It’s bulky and encased in wood. We told them it was OK to remove the legs to get it through doorways etc. When it was brought in, the legs were bent. I listened to Mario clunk boxes down the stairs on a dolly even though there was a ramp (which was a slightly longer path). When we got to our new house, they were struggling to get things like the bed and larger boxes up the stairs, so we had them leave most of our boxes of clothes on the first floor.
We had a few items aside from the couch that were damaged, like our headboard, but didn’t find out until after they had left

The two guys that showed up for our move were on time, actually about an hour early, and worked their butts off. They did our move from a 1000 sq ft bungalow to our new home in about 6 hours or so. They really did work hard to get the job done. The furniture arrive in nearly perfect condition, there were a couple of pieces that had minor marks on them, but nothing that was a major problem. They were careful not to damage either home as well. I see others didn’t have a great experience, but overall, I thought they did a good job.

I highly recommend Silverback to anyone looking to move. I used them for my move from Detroit to Chicago. I coordinates my move through Jim, the owner. He was a pleasure to deal with. The price was better than the competition (I checked everywhere). There were no hidden fees (I have been stung by these before) except the fuel surcharge, but this was made known upfront. Julius and Mark were my 2 movers. Between them there was over 50 years of moving experience. They were professional, courteous, and very careful with my delicate items. I would definitely use silverback again.

Never never never never and did I say never use these idiots.
The young men were very polite and they did try but my furniture is damaged and they took forever to move just my furniture. I had moved all the boxes myself.
Their boss showed up at the end of the day to collect when we wouldn’t pay until the damages were addressed. $ 125 is all they gave us for repairs and Now I have to spend my time and energy to get things fixed and I keep finding other scratches and nix in other pieces that I didn’t see before.
They sent two guys to move a house full of furniture, started at 9:00 in the morning didn’t finish until 9 pm and then they were expected to go to another job.
They do not have an appliance dolly and my walls which were freshly painted are all scratched and gouged. They tried to fold my king mattress in half to get it up the stairs and off the truck. It is filthy dirty from them dragging it on the ground.
Our refrigerator (which is only 6 months old) is dented beyond repair.
I cannot recommend these people for any move.
Do not endorse their business, they do NOT deserve to call themselves «professional movers»

Get a quote in writing. There was a surprise fuel surcharge, which the owner waived when we complained. But, it shouldn’t have been there in the first place. The movers were EXTREMELY slow, which makes sense when paid by the hour. My story is complex and not worth writing here, but just watch out. Better Business Bureau rating of F may speak for itself.

Apparently I need to update the experience I had. I truly hired these guys, had a fairly accurate appraisal, and appreciate the fact that when I had a back injury, I had some honest young dudes that met my expectations for the owner they work for. I would hire these guys again.
We utilized these guys to move some items from Grand Blanc to our home in Rochester Hills. Solid service, pricing was competitive and they were quite timely.

I am a Community Manager of an Apartment community Silverback moving company was moving a new resident in to their new apartment and pulled their humongous truck onto the lawn. I asked them to move as not to damage the lawn and the irrigation system, an employee of theirs came out as I was asking the other man to move the truck and started screaming at me profusely to stop talking and said if I didnt stop being rude he would continue. I was in total shock, that this large man came out of no where and would speak to a lady that way, he then proceeded to scream and say «go F*** yourself». The resident moving in then jumped in to my defense, to tell the silverback employee he could not speak that way.
I called the service center to complain, a woman named Karen answered and said she would call the movers to see what happened, I was confused at why she would start with that after I told her about the employees behavior. ANy how she called back and apologized, however as a manager I will never allow them back on my site, they will be trespassed. I wouldnt want these guys handling my things. Thanks for ruining my day Silverback.

I found Silverback after putting a little info into
(I had gotten an outrageously high quote from another company and wasn’t sure what else was out there). Silverback responded first and with the lowest prices. Everyone I spoke with was incredibly friendly and they don’t start charging until they’re actually moving items.
It was frustrating that my appointment wasn’t much of an appointment at all though. They were first coming between 1 and 2 p.m., but called throughout the day saying the earlier move was taking longer than expected. Eventually, they said they could come at night if I wanted. When I said I thought I should get some kind of compensation for the inconvenience, they told me it was «the nature of the business» and that they’re right about move times 50 percent of the time but that I could talk to the manager. I was moving on a Thursday and they said they had no problem with moving me that night or that I could reschedule for Saturday. Since I’d already been sitting around all day Thursday, I needed to move.
I left a message with the manager in the evening and he called me back and agreed to take half the price off the main fee with no problem. It wasn’t much, but considering how cheap it was to begin with, it was acceptable, as I understand some things (like people not being honest about how much they have to move) are out of the movers’ control. The company should definitely start giving the much-dreaded window of arrival time though instead of an on-the-hour time.
The movers arrived at 9:30 p.m. I expected them to be tired, but they were ready to go. Both guys were very friendly and fast. Their energy and good attitude went a long way and glitches and earlier frustrations aside, I would happily use them again. I’m glad I stuck with a small local company in this case. After a long day, the guys left my house around 1 a.m. with great, friendly attitudes intact.
I saw an earlier review that said this company only accepts cash as well. That wasn’t true when I used them in late May. I could pay in cash or, for a 4 percent charge, use a credit card.
