Had a groupon for our first visit. Would definineity come back. They were nice, place was clean, and food was good.

Ugh, I am so torn. The owners were so nice and accommodating. They didn’t have high chairs, not the end of the world but my daughter had to eat her shawarma on my lap.
The shawarma was good. Needed more pickle, but good amount of garlic. The hoummus was not great and one piece of pita was not enough. The mjadra was ok. But they are known for their shawarma. For that I will give them 4 stars, just don’t stray too far.

New go-​to, inexpensive Mediterranean staple in my life. I really want these guys to succeed. Quality, flavorful food. I hope more people start coming to this place because it deserves the business.
The chicken shwarma sandwich I had was cooked perfectly, crispy pita outside with a flavorful chicken inside. For the dinner, their shish tawook was out of this world and their falafel isomer of the best I’ve had in the area.
I will be telling anyone and everyone to try this place out. You won’t be disappointed.

They have the best hummus and fatoosh in town. The taste and quality are incredible and very reasonably priced. New owners are very nice too.

Very delicious Mediterranean food.
Out-​of-​this-​world shawarma, flavorful falafel, tasty Hummos and Baba ghanouj. Not to forget the fresh salad, Fatoush, and Tabouleh.
Furthermore, the service is quite good, and does not take much time to get your order ready.

Love that the chicken shawarma is all white meat. It was very flavorful, fresh and lemony. Very friendly service!

Wow! This place is great! It’s under brand new management that changed this place around in a month. The food is great, flavorful, and totally fresh. The management is also very nice. Went in during lunch and it was packed! Will definitely go again.

For what this place is, it is a solid quick inexpensive choice for good middle eastern food. Not the best of anything we had but way better than many of the competitors. The lentil soup and the hummus sandwich with vegetables were solid items. Super nice owner/​operator as well. Give this place a chance to grow into itself.

Not so much. The garlic was decent. Beef was terrible, chewy and tasteless. Staff was nice enough but food was pretty bland. Freezing in there too. The place across the street next to papa Joe’s is way better, best around… I’d pass on this place

Obsessed with this place. I can’t imagine why anyone would give them less than five stars. I eat here constantly and the food is always super good. I’m actually about to order it now.

We are lucky to have choices when it comes to middle eastern and Lebanese cuisine. But this is now in my top three. This place is SUPER FRESH. Everything made right then and there. The chicken was so tender and great portion size. I wanted to bottle the dressing for my salad and take it home. I will make the trip to dine here and next time I need to cater a family get together, they get my business.

I have been here several times since the business has opened and will continue to. The food is excellent, healthy, and very well priced. I have tried several of the pitas, the soup, and hummus. All have been fresh and tasty. Definitely worth going to.

As a small business owner myself, I hate to give bad reviews. But this place…
I don’t know where to start. The chicken shawarma sandwich was microwaved chicken in pita bread with nothing else. There was no lettuce, no tabouli, no tomatoes, no onions, no beet, no seasoning… nothing. It was loosely packed and not toasted. I took a few bites and threw it out.
The hummus was literally drenched in oil. I feel like it should have come with a pacemaker. The soup was like drinking lemon juice.
I certainly feel sorry for the owners and hope they can turn this around before closing shop. However, Detroit has way too many good Middle Eastern restaurants for this joint to stick around for too long.

This might be the worst shawarma sandwich I’ve ever had! We can walk here so we are so disappointed that it’s gross. It seems very fast foodish and the ingredients or meat didn’t seem fresh.

Went here on a whim when we wanted a quick, tasty dinner. I was so pleasantly surprised! We ordered the vegetarian combo for two and it was more then enough food. Flavor was awesome and everything was delicious. We wanted to try the lentil soup and the owners wife-​Mary-​gave both my boyfriend and I two free cups to enjoy while we waited for our food-​for free! We were so surprised by their wonderful hospitality-​we will definitely be back!

Excellent food. This was our first time and we will certainly come back. The fatoosh salad was to die for and lemon rice soup was perfect.

Been to Shawarma Kingdom twice now in the last couple weeks and all I can say is AWESOME! There are a lot of Middle Eastern restaurants out there but this one stands out. I have been craving the hummus since the first time and it tasted just as good the second time, creamy and flavorful! Got a chicken shawarma sandwich and was not overloaded with the sauce, just enough to make it taste good and was fresh. You can’t drive by without your taste buds pulling you in.

I ordered the Chicken Kafta — came with a salad. The salad was very nicely done lots of chopped veggies, bite sized and perfectly dressed.
The Kafta on the other hand was dismal. The pickles are ON THE SANDWICH. There was no lettuce, tomato or onion as stated on the menu. The pita was like a pita chip — not the soft warm pull apart like I am used to. The chicken had a decent flavor but tough as shoe leather — my dog enoyed.
Service was friendly and prompt. I called the restaurant and said I am just expressing my opinion the owner was argumentative and confrontational — if the menu says pickle that means on the sandwich — I said there was no lettuce, tomato or onion on the sandwich he was not listening He told me basically if I want soft be ask it not be grilled — never heard of such a thing. Opening Special is a very good price, but with his attitude and the food. DEFINATELY WILL NOT RETURN.

I feel bad giving 2 stars. But.
Lentil soup was tasteless. Chicken was bland and rubbery. I don’t think it’s grilled; maybe warmed up on a griddle to order? Fries were soggy in takeout container. Put ‘em in paper, guys.
Hummus was ok.

Missed the opening of this new Middle Eastern establishment 2 days earlier, but we were welcomed so warmly by the staff of 3 that we felt like the first patrons to cross the threshhold. Shawarma Kingdom’s proprietor, George, took over the formerly minuscule space occupied by «How About Lunch,» and worked a minor miracle of rebuilding, turning the space from micro– to merely mini -. The surprisingly large menu features a good variety of standard Middle Eastern fare, veers toward Greece with gyros, and takes a detour to the U.S. with burgers (Angus, turkey, and veggie). I’d recommend starting with the Mideast, as this is clearly the strong suit. I ordered falafel, which came in combo with a choice of salads (made mine the Lebanese) and beverage, at a reasonable price. Fries were also available if desired. The carry out menu was available in quantity on the counter, and included coupons, making the meal even more affordable. The falafel was clearly influenced by the proprietor’s time spent in Eilat, a resort city in the extreme south of Israel. As a devotee of Israeli falafel, I greatly enjoyed mine. The co-​diner got chicken shawarma, which earned his approval. Catering is offered, and I suspect will be used by neighboring business offices once this little gem is discovered. For now, Shawarma Kingdom provides a good alternative to some of the fast-​food eateries in the area.
