Octane: Uptown Birmingham

Very good carmallato with their homemade caramel. Kids enjoyed a rich hot chocolate and were impressed with the designs the barista made on our drinks. I would def go back. Glad to know there’s 2 in Atlanta!

This place is awesome.
Location: Uptown. Sweet place. Not much going on here other than it’s right next to the BJCC and some other fancy restaurants. I don’t think there are any parks nearby to take your food to go, BUT, there is a pretty large grassy area with a couple of benches that you can enjoy your meal on. Great picnic spot.
Service: Super great. Each time I have been here the service has been awesome. Nothing more and nothing less than friendly service and easy conversation. I can’t remember the gentleman’s name who helped us, but he had a beard and was quite funny.
Quality of beverage/​food: I haven’t got the coffee from Ocatane yet. I have only gotten Tea each time. My favorite is the Jasmine Green tea and the GINGER something.
OVERALL– For a quiet evening, doesn’t get much better than this. I recommend getting your tea/​coffee and sitting in the square where the fountain is. Quite peaceful.

Amazing coffee! I had an Ethiopian blend via the pour over. It was the Hario V60.
Plenty of places to sit and they have the cutest little sign in front of the entrance by the hotel. The pastries looked okay, but I didn’t try them.
Definitely the best cup of coffee I have had in awhile.

This has probably got to be the most beautiful coffee shop in Alabama.
It was also opened at 6AM on Labor Day. That must mean one thing – the makings of delicious caffeinated drink does not take a hiatus on such silly days such as holidays. Good coffee and tea is a privilege available for purchase every day.
Now, comes the chai latte. Imagine the best chai latte you could have in Birmingham. It’s $ 5 but it’s the best $ 5 I’ve ever spent on a latte.

Great coffee house and bar combo, perfectly suited to the Uptown vibe. Park in for pay parking lot and get your parking validated by the good folks at Octane for free parking. They have several beans to pick from and they make each cup as it is ordered so this is as fresh as you are going to get it. I tried some of the cold brewed coffee too and look forward to getting that again. I have not tried a mixed drink yet but from the looks of it they can make a mean cocktail! This place is a regular meeting spot for me and a friend who works downtown and we find the atmosphere to be a great place to get caught up on some work or get caught up on life.
