Going to my sister’s wedding next weekend, and I was in a bind. No good shirts, no good jacket, and no fitting pants that didn’t expose the lower third of my leg. So, having never gone to this store before, and knowing it was the only reliable Big & Tall in Birmingham — according to Google — I tried it. Bill Schmale, the sales manager, greeted me within a half a second upon entering which, in all fairness, wasn’t difficult — it is a relatively small location — the size of a medium-sized apartment, perhaps — but it stands to reason that his desire to help was high. He had two gentlemen shooting the breeze with him, standing near the doorway and, without being callous to either of them, directed his attention at my wife and I. I told him what I needed. A nice white shirt, straight-collar, some good, forever-pants, and a new jacket — the latter of which would be purchased at a later date. The first thing I said to him was that I needed to know prices, and he gave me an honest estimate. Showed me he knew the stock very well. I told him I hadn’t been fitted in quite some time, and he brought out a variety of shirts and pants for me to try, to see if he had something tailored to me. After a very, very brief sizing period — Bill knew his sizes like the back of his hand — I picked a pair of microfiber pants, the cost of which I couldn’t pass up(on sale for $ 54.99, regularly $ 90). Second was a shirt. Originally, I had thought a wedding-themed baby blue would do nicely, but on second consideration, deduced that white would be more longevity-appropriate, and selected a baby blue tie, instead. Found one I really fit well into, and decided to pass the buck($ 75). The whole process was quick, easy, and the clothes fit phenomenally, better than anything I have yet found for myself. Two weeks later(yesterday), I went back in browsing jackets. Found one I liked, a lot, and had a gaze at the price tag — $ 300. I knew this was inevitable, as jackets are always the most expensive. However, Bill came to me and said he had a sale on it, and let me have it for $ 150. I was floored. The customer service was very different, but I was treated with respect the entire time. No complaints whatsoever and I will return here should I ever need any more suits/ties/etc.

My husband’s a tall feller. Every football season he must have a new Crimson Tide tshirt to wear EVERY game day. It’s a tradition. [rolls eyes]. The problem is, if he buys a regular tshirt it shrinks in length after a couple of washes and no one likes a plumber’s crack. So the quest, every season, is to find a Tall size tshirt with an Alabama logo he can approve of. Other stores with Big & Tall sections proved a failure. Ergo McMillan’s. They had a small section of collegiate tees and a moderate selection of polo’s and hoodies. Looks like they did have a good selection of every day wear– casual and business. Thankfully he found a tshirt with a snarky saying which fits his personality perfectly and a nice Bama polo to suit us both. Ok so the polo was totally my idea, but it was on sale. The associate here was outstandingly nice. Very social but not obnoxious. Super helpful without being intrusive. Gave, what seemed like, honest opinions about the fit of the shirts my husband tried on. They deserve 5 stars for the service for sure BUT the location sucks. Why? Because I hate the Galleria. The crowds, the parking, the Hoover traffic… headache, headache, migraine! Plus they’re located directly in front of the Wynfrey doors so there isn’t a convenient mall entrance to just run in and out. Their prices are a bit high as well but if you’re a Big and/or Tall male you know how hard it can be to find good clothing.
