If you are looking for baby music classes or toddler music classes — even preschooler music classes — you’ve come to the right place! We offer Kindermusik, the world’s leading music-​and-​movement program for children from birth to age seven. Our highly trained educators know how to use the power of music to help your child grow and develop in a nurturing, joyful environment. We also provide «Music for Little Mozarts» piano classes for age 4 – 6, and private singing lessons.

History

Established in 1993.

Margaret’s Music Studio began in 1993 with a few Kindermusik classes offered out of the home of Margaret Matthes. Margaret’s own children were ages 3 and 1, and they happily participated in their mama’s classes. Word spread — and parking became a problem! — so Margaret began offering her classes out of a nearby church. In 1996 Margaret moved her Kindermusik classes her current Birmingham location at The Community House, and then added a second location at Evola Music Bloomfield in 2012.

Margaret E. Matthes, M.M. Ed., has owned an operated the award-​winning Margaret’s Music Studio since 1993. Her studio carries the prestigious «Maestro» designation as one of the top 5% Kindermusik studios worldwide in terms of size.

Margaret, a mezzo-​soprano, has sung under renowned conductors, including Ricardo Muti, Zubin Mehta and Leonard Bernstein. Locally, she has performed with the Birmingham Musicale, Oakland Choral Society, Christ Church Cranbrook choir, and the professional ‘a capella’ vocal chamber choir «Sounding Light».

In addition to Kindermusik, Margaret’s Music Studio offers «Music for Little Mozarts,» a piano class for ages 4 – 6, and private voice lessons.

She has a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from University of Tennessee and a Master’s degree in Music Ed./Choral Conducting from Westminster Choir College.
