Escova Salon

So haven’t touched my hair in a couple years and I spontaneously decided to highlight and cut my hair this morning. I really thought that I wouldn’t be able to get an appointment anywhere (considering that most salons are closed Monday). But man oh man am I glad that Escova was able to take me in today because I am in love with my hair! Kimberly is extremely kind and friendly! She is super passionate about hair and really knows her stuff. I really recommend you come in a see her!

Still my favorite salon in Birmingham. Organized, cool relaxed atmosphere and talented stylists. I always get what I’m looking for! Go see Marco B. He’s the best.

This is my spot! Love this place. Loretta is my stylist and is amazing! Lisa does my color and she rocks! I always leave the salon feeling great. ALWAYS!!! Super friendly staff all around.

I had a great experience there with my stylist ANA! I wouldn’t have anyone else touch or even look at my hair! She always knows what she’s doing and is the best at what she does I’ve had every color possible and my hair is still in great condition! If your thinking about trying out this salon I would definitely ask for Ana :)!

I called for a haircut appointment since my established hairstylist was on vacation. I telephoned a ‘Maaloof salon” going by the reviews/​awards online. What I discovered was that the business had been bought over and J. Maoof was no longer there. The receptions put another lady on the phone who insisted I make an appointment with «John» (I forget the surname) who was really good, happened to be there from LA and had a spot available because of an 11 AM cancellation. I told her I would take her word for it. Her praise turned out to be smoke and mirrors. John was no master hairstylist. Just a below average scissor holde, r who was practicing his trade with so much indifference that in some years if he still is at it, he just might become average.
At the very start, he informed me that I had «straight hair». Now that was revelation since I have had it so all my life! Apparently, this ‘master’ is not comfortable working with straight hair (if only he had confessed at the outset). Thestylists I have been to in the past praise the thickness and health of my hair, rather than become aghast at the lack of curls! The only thing high end about the place was the charge for the haircut. I usually pay that amount, but get comparable service. The haircut at this place is not worthy of a 20 dollar cut at any walk-​in shop in the mall.
When you go in to a hair dressers where your more than a month old hairstyle looks better than than what you come out with, that does not say much for the stylist. The entire place with it’s worn floors and other signs of poor upkeep, indicate they are not going to be around for very long.

The salon did a wonderful job the day of my wedding. My bridal party was very happy with hair and makeup and I was very pleased with my updo and bridal makeup. Jolynn did my hair and Hannah did my makeup. Both are experienced and professional and I truly felt they had my best interest at heart and wanted me to look my very best. My makeup was heavy, but I found this to be perfect when my professional photos turned out flawless.
