Breakout Birmingham

Came here with a group of six as part of a birthday celebration to do Hostage breakout. We all had a really good time. We had a fifth grader and a seventh grader with us and they were able to participate and help solve the problems too.
You get one hour to figure out how to escape. Warning — it is not easy. We were blind folded and handcuffed together and put in a room. We were able to remove the blindfolds immediately. Then we had to figure out how to get out of the handcuffs. The key is to realize that pretty much everything in the room is a clue to your escape. If you push a button and nothing happens, look around to see if something has changed in the room or if something is different.
We were told our room only had a 35 percent escape rate. We were able to get out with 8 minutes to spare. It helped that we had two people on our team who had escaped from three of the other rooms so they sort of knew how to think. I wonder how we would have done without them. Our friend says that he always thinks it will be easier the next room he does, but it never is.
Still, it definitely takes a team effort to complete this task. You do have a game master who is watching the room and is available to call on if you need help. He/​she will give you up to three clues. You will definitely need them because you will get stuck. We decided that we would try and use a clue every fifteen minutes so we wouldn’t use them too fast.
This would be a great team building event. Would love to bring a work group here. Definitely worth the price. So go see if you can Breakout!

I went here with co-​workers in sort of a team building activity and I can’t wait to do it with my student staff! There were so many of us that we got to do groups in every room so it was nice to debrief with everyone afterwards. We did the kidnap room and got out with a little under 10 mins to spare! Walking in the staff was great with our large group getting us set up and breaking us into smaller groups. I’m not going to give away any thing that happened in the room but it was challenging, fun and I really got to know my co-​workers! I love that we had to work together in order to get out and I think this type of event is great for friends, teams that are thriving and teams that are struggling! I do think it’s the type of thing that once you do it once you can never do that room again, they have 5 different rooms I believe which at least gives me the chance to go back again.

Breakout games are great, intense fun. You are trapped inside of a room for an hour (not literally — emergency exits are provided) and given a scenario or sequence of puzzles and riddles to solve to make it out of the room. Each room is different, so you can come back multiple times. The cost is a little expensive, but it is worth it to me as the experience is great and unique. I want to come back and beat every scenario they have!

A group of 5 of us went this past Saturday. A sweet little high school aged girl working the counter saw us in, explained how things worked and was very outgoing and friendly. As we were the last group of the evening she allowed us to choose a different room, in lieu of the one we originally booked on-​line. She then proceeded to run our game. This was my first experience with Breakout Birmingham or anything of the sort. The other members of my group were escape room veterans and have battled various rooms in this establishment before. Apparently the Casino Royale room is one of the most desirable and ultimately the more challenging to reserve hence the group majority opted for the 007 room. It was a completely different challenge than anything I have experienced in the past. It was also far more challenging than I expected as well. Overall a very enjoyable event/​a unique good time with friends. Fortunately, we ultimately did escape at 58:34. If you haven’t been to one of these experiences I would highly recommend trying it. I don’t foresee you finding a better staff/​facility for your adventure. I will likely try another room, a number of my friends are hooked and want to try them all in every hosting facility.

I thoroughly enjoyed this Breakout for an Elite Event and look forward to many more. The staff are friendly and genuinely want you to enjoy the whole experience. It’s a pretty cool concept and the suspense and anxiety for your Breakout is overwhelming! You can go in a pair, but try to grab a small group to think through this puzzle (think SAW). Blindfolds, handcuffs, instructional audio clips… you just have to see for yourself!

Y’all!!! This place was SO fun! If you’re in to solving problems, then you definitely need to do this. I was with a group of 6 others folks for our Unilocal event, and we absolutely loved it. Every one of us. Fun thing is that this activity is independent of weather, so you can do it whenever it’s open.
We did the Museum Heist, and it was supposedly one of the tougher ones. We were able to make it out, and it was a blast trying all of these different things within the setting.
I will ABSOLUTELY be coming back to try more of the rooms in the future, and will be bringing many friends/​family as much as I can. I think there are 4 – 6 different rooms right now, so I got a few more visits to do.
A fun thing, too, is that you really probably won’t notice everything that people did to progress through the setting so you might still get some things you don’t know if you come back months later to work the same room.
The Breakout crew was all super friendly, and helpful. They did a wonderful job of incorporating some cool tech into pretty much the whole room and building. It was all very innovative, and I wish I had come up with something like this!
It’s only 1 year old, and they are already killing it for a great all around experience! I’m looking forward to watching this grow!

My fiancée took me for my birthday because I had been dying to go ever since we participated in the scavenger hunt (which was great and I hope they do another one soon-​maybe just a little more organized). The only reason I didn’t give it five stars is because though I love a good mystery, the clues we kind of all over the place (we did The Kidnapping). I think this place would be the greatest with just a little more organization. But I can’t wait to go back and try the others

This review and my review of the other escape place in Birmingham are pretty identical because the places are. You wont go wrong with either. This is such an amazing experience! You are locked in a room (don’t worry they have a panic button by the door). They play a little video giving you a setup and then BAMM! you have 1 hour to escape. They have multiple rooms that have nothing to do with each other so you can keep going back to try something new. each room allows 8 people. You can book all 8 slots and go by yourself or you can just book what you need and you may or may not get paired with someone else. Parking is non existent but once you start your adventure you don’t really care. We did the Kidnapped room. Locked in a room with a killer returning in 1 hour! Clues, lock boxes, lasers, keys, secret compartments! it was so much fun! If you get stuck they are watching and listening the whole time. You get 3 clues. If you have never done an escape adventure you must do this. If you have done them before this wont disappoint.

I am so psyched that these exist!!! I have been playing escape games online for years, so I was a little leery of a live-​action version, especially one where you may have strangers to work with, but boy was this a great experience. We only had 3 in our party, so they put us together with another group of 4. Made the control freak in me a little nervous at first, but the way the room works lends itself to cooperation. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Game master was helpful without being intrusive or annoying (he is watching and listening the whole time… comforting? Maybe…). There is a panic button by the door in case you need to leave or get freaked out, but even the Kidnapped! scenario that we did wasn’t spooky enough to push you to that point. It was impressive how they made a clean room look «dingy”(supposed to be a basement of a psycho’s house) and maintain the ambiance without ACTUALLY being gross. Also liked that they had a dry erase board in the room so you didn’t have to just remember all the stuff you discover, as opposed to the other escape game in town. We escaped with time to spare, but even if we hadn’t, it would have been TOTALLY worth it! The price is even reasonable at $ 24.00 on the weekend and $ 22.00 on the weekdays (with promo code WEEKDAY). DO IT! YOU’LL LOVE IT!

The staff was great! Room was a blast, challenging and a great way to get the kids away from their cell phones!

We did a Breakout for my 50^th birthday & had a great time. The staff were very friendly and helpful & we will definitely be back to try again! Kelsey & Elijah were super nice!

I recently scheduled a team building event with Breakout Birmingham for my office. Josh was so helpful in coordinating the number of people and times we could come. There were 15 of us split between three rooms.
When we arrived, the staff was beyond welcoming and enthusiastic. We did Island Escape and Kidnapping. We had so much fun! The challenges, puzzles, and equations were challenging and engaging. ²⁄₃ of our teams broke out! It was down to the wire. We were thankful for the helpful Game Masters who led us through the room. I can’t wait to bring my group back to do more rooms. We’re hooked!

I enjoyed the kidnap room and plan to do the others. This is an experience and it should be shared. Parking wasn’t the greatest but neat location. Great idea.

This was a super fun experience.
Our group did the Kidnap scenario. There were tons of clues and locks to free other clues. The venue was clean. Safety is taken seriously and you can leave the room if necessary. We had 4 people booked, but they didn’t add anyone else to our group. There will be another room scenario soon, so we hope to not miss any of them. This is a great team building exercise. It wasn’t overly cheesy. There were surprises through the experience. We think that we want to dress swanky for casino royale and do it next month. I feel like we got a great experience for our money.
