The Goldsmith is a true gem for Binghamton. It automatically gets points in my book for being locally owned and operated, as well as being located in downtown Binghamton and not fleeing to the parkway or mall. It has the largest selection of any jewelery store in the area, with styles and prices that will fit pretty much anyone’s needs. There is also an ever-expanding selection of non-jewelry items and gifts, including barware, scarves, purses, and housewares. What sets the Goldsmith apart from other businesses is their customer service. Since they don’t work on commission, you aren’t stuck with one person while shopping. When my husband and I were looking at wedding bands this summer, the salesperson who had started working with us gladly switched off with another when we had questions she couldn’t answer. We even had an opportunity to speak with the goldsmith himself, who frequently pops out from the back to interact with customers. Overall, the staff is knowledgeable, responsive to what you’re looking for, and friendly. In all my visits to the Goldsmith over the years, I have never felt pressured. I have also had great experiences with custom work and jewelry repair here, and find that their prices are competitive with other locally-owned jewelers. Be sure to sign up for their mailing list, which includes reminders for their two annual sales and a gift card on your birthday and anniversary.

A gorgeous store with gorgeous merchandise. I love the gift items — pottery, scarves, handbags, etc. In addition to beautiful traditional jewelry, I most love their more modern pieces. Fresh and inspired! Plus, not everything is expensive. They have a little something in any price range. If you haven’t been in lately, pay a visit!
